As his master swung his saber through telekinesis, Aran's barrier faded, he shut his eyes once again, with his arm outstretched, he created another barrier. He opened his eyes, and focused on the barrier's strength. His mind was focused on nothing but the barrier. He waited for his master to hit it again.

"It's good to concentrate, just remember to not focus too much on erecting a barrier that you miss an attack from the enemy," said Zolotoy.

Zolotoy flung the lightsaber again. This time, he telekinetically manipulated his second one to swing around Aran and attack the man's legs from behind.

The lightsaber hit the barrier, it didn't fade. "Success." Aran said. The lightsaber hit his foot, and he fell to his knees. He got back up, and put one had on his training saber. "Dueling again, master?"

"No, just teaching a lesson," said Zolotoy. "You focused too much what was ahead of you that you didn't notice my counter attack."

Zolotoy extinquished his lightsabers. "Let's take a break from this. Aran, what do you know of the Jedi Tenets and Jedi Code?"

Aran thought for minute, then spoke. "The code and tenets of the Jedi are: There is no emotion, there is peace, This tenet is not to say that emotion does not exist but that it ought to be set aside. Emotions must be understood first, and it is a young Jedi's duty to explore his feelings. Unless a Jedi can confront his thoughts and feelings, he will never achieve peace. Emotions, then, are not to be overcome or denied, but rather understood and dealt with.

There is no ignorance, there is knowledge, A Jedi must be circumspect and try to understand the world that is surrounding him. That ignorance does not exist is, of course, a flat-out lie or gross misunderstanding. Simply ignoring facts that do not fit with one's viewpoint is equally foolhardy. Ignorance is a part of life but it must not be feared. For more knowledge to light their way, the Jedi Temple Archives contain possibly the single largest source of information in the galaxy, but this tenet also reminds the Knight that knowledge can be taken from the most unusual places.

There is no passion, there is serenity, This tenet is more than a repetition of the first. It refers more directly to situations of extreme stress in which a Jedi might be tempted to react strongly, or be so focused on the task and not the goal. That a Jedi must draw his weapon only in defense is an expression of this tenet, keeping all other options open. While emotions and intuition must be understood and utilized in a Jedi's daily life, they must be checked, lest the Jedi act rashly and lose objectivity. Passionate use of power leads to the dark side. A Jedi must always act with a calm hand and an even temper. "when in doubt, stay your hand", observing each situation as clearly as the Force sees it, not clouded with unbridled passion. There is no chaos, there is harmony, This statement reflects the cosmology of the Jedi Order. Whereas uninitiated beings see the universe as a chaotic and disconnected place, a Jedi realizes that all things are interconnected and, more importantly, interdependent, in a never-ending cycle of balance. While an uninitiated being sees sorrow and tragedy in the workings of the universe, through the Force, a Jedi is able to interpret and understand even the most painful of life's events. Every event has a purpose.

There is no death, there is the Force, common argument is merely observing how a thing affects another thing, preventing those aware of their own finite existence from truly seeing the world as the Force sees it. A Jedi, like many ancient feudal knights of various empires, must always be ready for death, and not obsess nor be ruled by it. As a warrior not only in combat but also in day-to-day life, it is easy to fail and fall, then rise up without distraction or attachment holding the Jedi back." Aran took a deep breathe. "Those are the tenets and the code of the Jedi Order."

"Very good," said Zolotoy. He glanced at the time. "Aran, I want you to look in the Jedi Database tonight and choose a power you wish to work on tomorrow. If you can, try practicing it a bit beforehand."

Zolotoy dismissed himself and left he training room.

Aran nodded to his master. "Very well." he said. He left the training room to go down to the database, to find a force power to train.

THE NEXT DAY

Aran hurried back down the halls back to the training room where he met his master last. He strode in and looked around the room. Not much had changed, some thing where moved around, but that was all. It still felt and looked relaxing. He had looked through the data banks last night, and decided what force power he wanted to learn, Force Sense.

"An interesting choice," said Zolotoy, having heard Aran's choice. "Now, what has your research told you about Force Sense and utilizing it?"

Aran looked at his master. "Force sense heightens your senses and lets you sense people emotions, thoughts, and such. You can use it to detect disturbances in the force, or when an enemy is near by." Aran said.

"Very good," said Zolotoy. He glanced at his watch. "I'll be back in just a sec."

Zolotoy walked out of the room, asking Aran to try to utilize Force Sense to see if the man could identify any creatures outside of the room. A minute later, Zolotoy entered the room.

Then another Zolotoy entered room.

And another and another.

"This is an advanced ability called Doppelganger," said all the Zolotoys together. "Which is the real me? Utilize Force Sense to try to learn the truth behind my illusion."

Aran closed his eyes and focused on his senses. Attempting to sense which one was his master, and which one was a doppleganger. He opened his eyes, and pointed at the one that entered second.

"I'm afraid it was a trick question," said a voice.

All the Zolotoys in the room disappeared. The real Zol entered.

"I was never inside," said Zolotoy. "You need to know that you mustn't limit yourself with Force Sense. Always expand past the box."

Aran nodded, then spoke. "What exactly should I be focusing on, when I use the force power?" He sighed, he wasn't the best with the force by far, he could be better.

"With Force Sense, you don't want to focus on just one thing," said Zolotoy. "Let your mind engulf all that is around you. If you don't pay attention to something, that could be used against you. Surprise is a nifty tactic to have when you're using it on someone, but bad when someone uses it on you."

Aran nodded at his masters comment. "Right." he sighed again. Obviously disappointed in his lack of skill. "Shall we continue." he said.

"Experience holds greater value than textbook review and lecture," said Zolotoy. "We can sign-up for a mission later."

Zolotoy sat down.

"Before we go on a mission, an ability that would be wise to learn is Force Concealment. This ability allows you to conceal your Force allignment, whether it be Ashla or Bogan. Mastery over this ability can lead you to masking your Force sensitivity or even masking your prescence entirely. Now, try to relax yourself. Be lost in your surroundings. Lose your thoughts of good and evil, and allow yourself to become an individual. Neutral. Neither light nor dark. Nothing."

Aran sat down also, he closed his eyes, and attempted to clear his thoughts. It took a while, but eventually, he got rid of good or evil, the Order, or any other thoughts he was thinking. A good ten minutes passed before he fully cleared his mind. Then he spoke. "Now what?" His eyes where still closed, his mind was still cleared. Unsure of why he was doing this, or what this power would do to him.

"Good," said Zolotoy. "For a few minutes, I could not identify whether you were Bogan or Ashla-oriented. However, had a put some effort into it, I most likely could have figured it out. Know this: those more powerful can occasionally sense past Force Concealment."

Zolotoy stood up.

"I think it might be best we try a mission," suggested Zolotoy. "Be ready to depart within the week."

Aran opened his eyes, and stood up. "Okay." he said, proud of his success. He looked around. "So we are done for the day?" he asked. in great confusion.
