From Mos Eisley, It’s:
Most Interesting Mercenary in the Galaxy with Daren Calrissian!
Today, I’m here with Tracyn Runi, a Mandalorian Mercenary. Most Interesting Mercenary in the Galaxy with Daren Calrissian!
A: I’m fine Daren. Work’s a little slow, but that’s the life of a mercenary I guess.
Q: Very good. So tell me, how did you get into the mercenary business?
A: Well, as a Mandalorian, we are warriors first. I am a well-respected member of the Runi clan, meaning that I was destined to lead my clan. However, fate dealt me a cruel hand when we were exiled to that dust bucket that you call Tatooine. Horrible place. VERY dry and hot. I was nearly 20 when this happened.
As Outcasts, my clan was forced to make do with our surroundings. We set up camp near Anchorhead, but we were under constant attack from these Sand People. You could almost call it a war, since we were lightly equipped by Mandalorian standards. These things had strange rifles and these shoddy clubs that, from experience, pack a serious whallop. Seriously, those clubs hurt. After nearly half a decade, we ran those guys off, claiming their camp as our new home.
After that, things got kinda quiet, even for Human standards. We kept tradition alive, honoring our people who exiled us, hoping one day, they’d allow us back on our home planet. I was twenty-five when a Mandalorian ship landed in Anchorhead. We soon met with the captain, a member of the Ordo clan, who said that we could return only if we brought a trophy from war. Well, we had hundreds of the savages’ clubs, meaning that we could return to our home at long last…
We soon arrived home, where our clan was welcomed with open arms, as war heroes. We were even greeted by Mandalore himself. He gave us our clan residence, had several of us sent to the frontlines of a war our people were fighting, and myself, they moved me to the Deathwatch. I was the youngest Deathwatch initiate in nearly a century. I ran several missions with my brothers, until an unfortunate accident on one mission left me as the sole survivor. I asked Mandalore to allow me to go into a self-imposed exile without having my name removed from the records. He agreed and I was honored with taking “The Long Walk,” a custom normally reserved for the oldest and wisest of our people.
I left my home, bouncing from planet to planet, picking up odd jobs, and spending a majority of my money trying to drink away the memory of how I got my brothers killed. Many nights, I couldn’t sleep it haunted me so. And now, I find myself at the age of 32 trying to find steady work.
Q: Very interesting… So would you say you’re good at your job?
A: To an extent. I am good as a soldier and as a battlefield leader, but I don’t foresee a career as a Senator being in my future. Perhaps when I’m older, I could become a barkeep.
Q: Hehehe… So, I assume since you’re a Mandalorian, you aren’t Force Sensitive?
A: What in the tach is the Force?
Q: So that’s a no… So, since you are a war veteran, you carry decent weaponry for your newfound career path?
A: Minus my concussion rifle and my heavy pistol, I occasionally use thermal detonators, depending of course, on how my client decides to equip me. Usually, I try to outfit my armor with hidden weaponry should I be captured. Remember, once a Mandalorian gives his word, he is bound by it. I never betray a client, no matter how much greater his enemy tries to pay me. Honor above pay.
Q: That’s noble, for a mercenary.
A: Thank you.
Q: Thank you for being on the show Tracyn.
A: My pleasure.
Q: That’s all we have time for this show. Tune in tomorrow when we talk to a protocol droid turned Mercenary to pay for new parts! Thank you for watching The Most Interesting Mercenary in the Galaxy with me, Daren Calrissian. Good Night!
