Star Wars: Dawn of the Republic
Time Skip: Coming Soon!
Dawn of the Republic has always had a central idea: telling the story of the fall of the Old Republic, and how it will one day rise again as the Galactic Republic of the Clone Wars era. Amidst that backdrop is the final war between the Jedi and the Sith Empire, the one that will some day lead to Darth Bane and the Rule of Two. To tell those stories, this was always envisioned as a two-part timeline. With the fall of Coruscant and the ongoing fall of Chandrila, the fall of the Old Republic is nearly complete. So too is the first part of the timeline.
Sometime in the next few weeks, we will be having a time skip that moves the story ahead a few years into the second part of the timeline. Time skips have been part of SWRP timelines in the past, and they always arrive when the story has progressed to a certain point and when shaking things up a bit is a natural consequence of how players have moved the story forward.
For many of you, this will be your first time skip with us. Here are some answers to questions that you might have:
1. When is the time skip happening? We are currently working on the date for the time skip, but we wanted to give you this head's up now so you can begin thinking ahead. We will have another update, along with a date for the skip, by March 26th.
2. How many years are we skipping? We will be moving 5 years into the future.
3. How does this impact my character? The only mandated impact is that you have to age your character by 5 years. So if your character is 25 now, they will be 30 after the skip. What the characters do in the intervening years is up to you, and you're encouraged to fill that out in your character profile, but anything normally needing approval will still need to be improved. That includes ranking up and gaining assets.
4. What will the main factions be? The main factions will be the Jedi Order, the Sith Empire, and the Mandalorian Dominion. With the fall of the Republic, the time has come to retire it as a main faction. Its NPC forces will be moved under the control of the Jedi Order.
5. What will happen to Republic PCs? The fall of the Republic was something we always knew was going to happen, just as we know that the Republic will one day rise again. That gives those of you who have characters in the Grand Army of the Republic or the Galactic Senate a fantastic storytelling opportunity. You can incorporate the fall of the Senate and the ultimate decentralization of the Republic by the Sith into your story. By default, your character would become indie, but there will be plenty of opportunities to join other factions, such as the Mandalorian Dominion as a soldier or an independent faction.
6. Will the Jedi faction have a playable Republic sub-faction? No. The Republic forces under the Jedi Order will be NPCs.
7. What will the Mandalorian main faction look like? As of now, the Mandalorian Dominion will be positioned as a protagonist faction. Their territory will expand to include some former Republic territories, but the full extent of this has yet to be determined.
8. How does the Mandalorian Dominion becoming a main faction affect faction limits? If you have a Mandalorian Dominion character, you will lose your indie status as the Dominion will become a main faction. For example, if you currently have characters in the Dominion, the Sith, AND the Jedi, you would have to give either Jedi or Sith up in order to stay in the Mandalorian faction. The two main faction rule still applies.
9. Will changes be made to the Sith Empire? The Sith will gain additional territory as a result of the Republic's fall, but beyond that we do not anticipate any changes to the Sith faction.

We'll keep you updated with more information as it becomes available. Very soon, there will also be a time skip write up that will thoroughly tell the story of what kicks the skip off and what happens with the factions in the intervening five years. The admins will work with faction leaders to flesh this out.
This is a very exciting milestone in this timeline, and every big event you've been part of has steered us towards this point. We're very excited to see where the story will go after the skip.
We're happy to answer any other questions you might have!
