A horrible disease swept across the globe, devastating humanity in a little over a year. The disease turned people into ravenous, flesh-eating monsters called zombies. The only way to kill them was to separate the brain or destroy the brain.

The US military has set up stations in Raleigh, NC; Boston, MA, Las Vegas, NV; Seattle, WA; Anchorage, AK; Jefferson, KS; Washington, DC; Orlando, FL; New Orleans, LA; and San Francisco, CA.

Meanwhile, London, Rome, most of Ireland, and parts of Japan are the only other places with human resistance.

Rules

-Ask before joining
-Ask before having a settlement destroyed
-Be plausible

A few months after the initial outbreak, the survivors had gone into hiding or made pilgrimages to the remaining military outposts. Most who left, didn't make it to their destinations. Jay Peterson never made a pilgrimage. His family was killed when the infection made it to his small town of 630 people. After he "put down" his friends and family who had turned, he decided to link up with his cousin who had been living in a town 20 miles away.

His cousin had been preparing for a zombie apocalypse since they were in 7th grade. Now, at the age of 19 to the day, he would hit the road and reconnect with his cousins who had most likely built a mini-fortress stocked with guns and ammo. Jay emptied his fridge and pantry of all food and drink. Since his parents divorced, his step-dad took all of his guns but there was a few boxes of shotgun shells and after his 18th birthday he got his bolt action 12 gauge back.

Now, with a backpack full of supplies, an wood ax, and a shotgun. His small '86 Ford Ranger was sitting outside, since he had already gotten all of the gas in town, and raided the Grocery Store and Gas Stations of food to survive off of for the past four months. His truck was stocked full of gas cans, sharp objects, soda, coolers, and food. He covered everything up with a stock rack and tarp to keep blood off of his essentials.

Packed and ready, he hit the road and headed north.

It had only been a few short months since the Infection struck, and Jason Turner had already had 5 extremely close calls with the infected. He had managed to travel from small town to small town with relative ease in his '83 Jeep Renegade. He carried only what he needed: food, water, ammo, a .308 rilfe (w/ Hunting Scope), and his .45 Colt 1911. The only "luxury" Jason brought along was a HAM radio to monitor any transmissions of other survivors.

Several survivors he had met so far in his travels told him to find a place to stay and hold up in. Jason never accepted this because he saw the most effective way of staying alive in this outbreak was to keep moving.

Jason pulled into a small town and he heard a truck motor turn over not too far away. He shut off his Jeep and stepped out, his brown cowboy boots stained with blood and his dirty shirt gently blowing in the breeze. Jason shrugged as he heard the truck drive away. He pulled out his pack of Marlboro reds, or "Cowboy Killers" as he'd always called them, and placed one in his mouth. He pulled out a matte black zippo and flicked it open. He stared at the flame as he brought it up to the end of his cigarette and then he flicked it shut. He first drag was a long, steady drag. He placed his zippo in his pocket and himself in the drivers seat of his Jeep as he exhaled, smoke consuming the area around him. He turned on his HAM radio and sat and listened for anything. All the nearby signals had stopped recently, many of them ending after a series of blood curtling screams, and some by the almost cliche "We're all gonna die!" then a gun shot. Jason shook his head as he was getting nothing, again, and turned on his Jeep, and began to head out of town.

((NO WAY, You smoke Marlboro Reds too? Awesome.... Anywho, if you would like to know more about the current town I am talking about that we are in, google maps Arnold, Nebraska. Some of the main stores within the town are Mighty Mart, Reed's Grocery, Suzy's Bar, Jim's Bar, and Sinclair Gas Station. Also, there is a small community center, hardware store and the high school is a bit small as well. I used to live there.))

Jay roared into town from the old highway, which (without maintenance), was starting to become covered in weeds and prairie grass. Like any other chain smoker, he had already lit and burnt up three cigarettes on the boring drive for the past 20 minutes. His iPod was blasting music through his blown out speakers. This would later be a bad idea. He noticed his old stomping grounds, the parking lot to Mighty-Mart. The little convenience store would be a fun place to rest. Only one entrance, so only one direction to receive attack.

Stepped out of his truck and locked the doors behind him. Lighting up another smoke, he walked up to the glass door and went inside, locking it behind him. At the click, a rustling could be heard from the back. This time his weapon of choice was a corn knife (machete w/ ridges). Jay raised it as he first opened the bathroom door, it made a loud creaking sound, and as it opened Jay could see streaks of blood on the sink, mirror and floor around the toilet.

Now it was time to check behind the counter and in the back room. The backroom was clear, but as he started to leave the counter and walk by the fridges, a ghoul leaped through the soda racks. Startled, Jay fell to the ground through the counter door. The zombie fell forward. His corn knife was flung across the small room. The zombie stood up and stared at him.

A knife that was sheathed around his boot was now his only current defense. He struggled to get up and the zombie snarled as it stared at him, as if about to pounce on him.

Jason was about to leave town when he heard a comotion from a little convience store. He saw a truck pulled into the parking lot and heard yelling and groaning from the store. Jason pulled in and grabbed his .45 Colt 1911. He ran into the store and found a man on the flooor with a zombie standing over him ready to pounce. Jason raised his pistol and aimed at the zombies head and squeezed the trigger smoothly. Red and black fluids splattered on the floor and far wall behind the zombie as it dropped backwards to the floor. Dead once more.

Disneyworld. Officially the happiest place in the world. Orlando had been taken by the zombies, but the enclave of Disneyworld remained well guarded. Its government was set up in the iconic Epcot Dome while the President stayed in the Castle in Magic Kingdom. People slept at the bottom of Space Mountain or any of the other hotels in the Disneyworld Area.

The Air Force had a small base in a clearing behind Epcot. The monorails were used as quick ways to get around the city. It was all set up by a man named Logan Bennett. He and his wife, Heather, helped Disney get back on its feet.

While Jay was knocked to the ground, he quickly grabbed something behind the counter. Something sweet that he had been yearning for for quite a while now. When he got up from the ground he met what he considered a new friend with such a great package. "You smoke," asked Jay as he grabbed the little red box. "I finally got a pack of Swishers that I've been looking for. You want one?" Jay then took one out of the package and lit it up with his old '69 lighter. A lighter that he got from his grandma when he was 17. A part of his beloved lighter collection.

Jason smiled at the man who offered him a Swisher Sweet and said "I like you already." as he took the offered Swisher and lit it. "Nice lighter by the way." he chuckled as he exhaled from his first drag. Jason had holstered his Colt and was rummaging through the store, searching for anything of use. Besides a carton of Marlboro Red's, he managed to find several things of SPAM and even some canned beans.

Jason walked to the cash register and popped it open. There was easiy $200 in the register's drawer. "Ya know, if money still meant anything in this 'New World', I'd take every last cent outta here." but instead he simply closed the drawer and walked back over to his new friend. "Got a name?"

"Name's Jay, my highschool buddies called me JDogg," he replied, grabbing his blade from the floor and inspecting the back office for the lighters they kept there. "Gotta get a new one from everywhere I've been," said Jay, explaining why he was always toying with lighters. "I'm a bit of a pyro. What's your name, and what are you doing in this small crappy town?"

"Name's Jason. Jason Turner. And I was just makin my way back east. I grew up in a little town kinda like this one, Glen Rock. That was wayyyy over yonder in Pennsylvania though. Hard to say if there's anybody over there since I left a few months ago." Jason followed Jay back outside. Jason couldn't help but admire Jay's truck. It was a classic. "Nice truck you got there," Jason noticed the mud covering both sides of the old Ranger ",I see you've been usin it the way it was meant." he chuckled. Jason also couldn't help but notice just how young Jay was. He was guessing he was only about 18, if that. Jason knew he was certainly a few years older than him, with Jason being 26.

"Yeah, this things a beut I guess. Changed out the tranny a few years ago," said Jay, puffing at his cigarillo. "I've made a few adjustments since this outbreak. I used to work at a service station when I was 16. So, I got some parts and cleaned this bitch up. Now it gets better gas mileage and roars like a lion." Jay then snapped back into what he originally came to this town for. His cousin stated initially that if a ZA would ever happen, he would hold up in his father's garage/smokehouse. Then if that plan failed, they would camp out inside and/or on top of the High School.

He shoved his machete into its sheath and threw it into the backseat of his truck. Then he turned back to Jason. "Well, right now I need to head up north a block or two. Supposedly got family up there. We need to get out of this general area of town all together." explained Jay. "Your gunfire should have stirred up a crowd of undead. If you want, you can come with me." He then pointed to the battered old pickup of his. "Do you have a ride of your own?"

" Damn, I almost out of this shit... "

Marcus put his joint out on the side of the car door. He then shoved it and his lighter in his pocket. He rubbed his face quickly and looked out his window. Their was nothing but old ranches for miles around. Oh, and of course the zombies that wandered through the fields, dying off of starvation one after the other. Marcus wasn't exactly sure where he was, he knew that he had crossed the Colorado border last night sometime.

After a few hours of driving, Marcus saw a city sign welcoming him into the small town. He was going through, when he saw a few stores, one that caught his attention especially though, a smokestore. Marcus turned off his car, and stepped out of it. He walked around to the back and popped the trunk open. Their was a small amount of food, not enough to last over a week, and three guns, two pistols and a pump action shotgun. Marcus tucked the pistols into his belt under his basketball shorts, and held the shotgun. He walked up to the store, kicking down the door. He had his back pack with him and began stuffing it with items; hooka, weed, a nice pipe, and a small hooka machine.

Marcus walked out, feeling accomplished and sat in his car, attempting to start it.

" Shit!!! No ****ing way! "

Marcus stepped out, he had everything that was of use with him for now, and figured he'd go find a new ride, he started making his way towards the local high school.

((Sorry, family emergency))

Jason chuckled and said "Ya. My ol' Jeep Renegade over there. She'll treat ya well as long as you treat her well." Jason nodded at Jay and said "I'll come with you. Lead the way." Jason walked over to his Jeep and climbed into the drivers seat. He lit another smoke and turned the Jeeps key.

((I know what it's like, don't worry.))

The two roared in their vehicles up the street to the high school. Then they got out and met in the parking lot. "Don't worry, I know how to get in. My cousin taught me a few ways." Jay said to Jason. He walked up to one of the front doors, and grabbed a credit card from his wallet. He then wiggled it into the latch. "Badda Bing, Badda Boom" The door opened with ease. Jay stepped into the hallway followed by Jason. "Hello?" he said, and it echoed through the halls. No response. The school was a small school, very small. That sound would have echoed through the entire school.

Jay looked back to his companion. "Ladies first" he said, nudging Jason in the arm.

Marcus was walking when he saw a jeep roar pass and park in front of the school. Too guys got out and opened the door, heading into it. Marcus pulled out one of his pistols as he approached the door. You never knew how people would react to strangers in these times. He slid into the high school, following the two other men.

((Hey, we got two vehicles, a Ford Ranger and a Jeep.))

"Hey! Rimpley, are you there!?!" Jay yelled into the darkness. A minor scuffling came from up stairs.

Jason chuckled and smirked at Jay's little "Ladie's first" comment. He'd get him back, in due time.

Jason felt nervous as they walked through the dimly lit hallways. With his pistol raised, he continued through the halls of the old school. He heard scurring and gentle walking all around them, but Jason nodded them off as his imagination. "I don't like how quiet it is in here... Smells like an ambush if you ask me..." he whispered to Jay.

"Yeah, but it may also be someone just messing with us." said Jay, "My cousin always did sh*t like this to me." Some more scurrying. "They lock the school down tight, no one would have been able to get in, unless they were to unlock the front doors like I just did. And there is no traces of blood pools or anything. Let's head upstairs, a good place to camp out in is the Library, it is connected to the Home Ec. Room, Counselor's Room, and the Science room." The two men went upstairs, Jay in the lead with his shotgun by his side and corn knife in his hand.

Jason simply nodded and follwed Jay. They reached a door labeled "Library". "Stack up." Jason whispered sharply. He pressed himself against the wall next to the door and reached for the handle, pistol raised and ready to go.
