Greybok was close to an outburst when Commander Ion stepped in a calmly posed a question before the tribunal. To say he was irritated would have been an understatement. He wasn't concerned at what crimes this man had committed against the Jedi Order; he was livid the man had disobeyed orders. Val had taken soldiers not under his command and blatantly defied the council's orders. At the very least, that made him guilty of mutiny—not against the Jedi Order, but against the entire rebellion.

The Wookiee was about to remind the Commander of this fact when his eyes scanned the crowd of assembled rebels and spotted first Mig and then Alys. His smoldering golden-brown eyes particularly focused on Alys. She looked unharmed, for which he was relieved, but unashamed, as well. Mig looked distressed by all of the tension in the chamber. Seeing the both of them only made Greybok's blood boil more. He was angry at them for being co-conspirators but more angry at Val, because seeing them again reminded whom he had almost lost due to the Jedi Master's recklessness.

That was enough to break his silence. Roaring in Shyriiwook, he said, «With all due respect, Commander, I don't care why he chose not to trust us. A refusal to obey orders is mutiny, and every one of us gathered here has received orders from this council to ensure that our actions do not expose our rebellion to the Empire before we were ready.» The light caught Greybok's eyes, which glimmered like flickering flames. «And everyone of us has gone to extensive lengths to follow that order. Even if the Empire does not know about our Alliance specifically, the knowledge that the Jedi are alive and well in this galaxy has almost certainly alerted them to the possibility of a rebellion against the Empire's rule. Now that they know the Jedi are alive, they will hunt them as the Trandoshans hunt the Wookiees.»

Greybok bent down and put his hands on the table, leaning forward so that Val could see the fire in his eyes directly. As a Wookiee, he stood high over every other member of the council. He was easily the most imposing figure in the room, which was only reinforced when his black lips curled up in a snarl, revealing the jagged teeth beneath them. «No. I don't care why he didn't trust us with his actions. I want to know what gave him the right to put every single life in this room—» His eyes briefly brushed back over Alys and Mig, the accusation sweeping to them as well «—and, indeed, our very rebellion, in more danger than was necessary.» @Orbit @Deviant @Mithias @Minuteman75 @Sangga

Luy closed his eyes, and focused his attention on what was being said and the emotions in the room. His calmness and serenity was not as strong in terms of an aura. But is composure as the Commander queried and the General roared was maintained. As the General stopped, a hand was removed from his sleeve and a palm held out and upright to be given room to speak. As the general hub-bub of reactions to the General died down Luy's hand lowered to his sleeve, and his eyes opened. His face had not moved, but the stoicness of his eyes and determination in their glint showed his resolve. He would move to the defense of his Brother of the Force, but even Luy's comradeship knew its bounds.

"My fellow Masters, Commander, General and other officers, soldiers and members of the Alliance. I commend some of you for your composure in this siutation and ask others..." he paused to sense the broiling angers in the room. "... others I would ask to reflect on the spirit of this Alliance." He opened his arms and turned to face each and every member of the Council and further back to the awaiting Jedi and Rebels. "Some of you may not have been aware of the Jedi, and the secrecy that the General has pointed out as being sundered, is the reason for this." He nodded to Greybok, a slight bow. "The fewer to have known about us, the more potent our actions against the Sith would've been. Each and everyone of you have placed their trust in the Alliance and it was its Founders that decided to keep this fact secret. We Master's and your own noble Commander Ion knew the mastermind of this union of ideals. We five Masters eventually agreed to take up this casue." He paused once more, then turned to leave his hand outstretched toward Valentine. "Before you stands a Master of the Jedi, but also a founder of this movement." With a dismissive handwave, Luy returned to glancing at everyone, trying to make eye contact as best as he could. "Do not, for one second think that Master Rayth wanted this reveal to have occured. Do not think for a moment that we Jedi are anything like the Sith, and please ensure that the work that has been done is not wasted." He turned back to Valentine. "Rightfully you are concerned for this good and noble work. The actions of Master Rayth and those that moved in his decision will need to be addressed. But with anger and hatred comes regret and like all a reaction." Luy's voice had barely raised, not in anger but as to exentuate his point.

His hands both unfruled from his sleeves as he began to pace again, this time he moved to Valentine, his hand clutched his fellow Master's outer robe tightly. "The fabric of this man mirrors my own, and I know that he would not have revealed himself as a Jedi if the situation was not dire. At the end of it, his action has revealed us to the Sith and endangered the cause, but he saved lives." He released his grasp and patted Valentine's shoulder. Luy moved toward the Wookie and clapped his hand to the Wookie's arm. A broad smile on his face, he liked this Wookie. He like his honesty, his determination and his loyalty to those in his care. "I am no military tactician, as most Jedi are not. The lack of communication can be put to that as a fault. These are lessons we need to learn, as our students must learn about the Force. You are our Master's in this case General, you and those like you. A teacher does not break or demand the death of their students, even if they bring danger to the class." Those who knew of Luy's students would know of the fate of one of his Initiates that did not make it to the Trial. Luy patted the Genrals flank and returned to his place. "Whatever this Council and Tribunal decides will be respected of course, but I suggest leniancy as I would to anyone standing in that spot, Jedi or not. United we are stronger than if we kill or cast another away."

Everything that preceded Master Luy’s words only served to cause the turmoil within her to writhe and roil. Her fingers were clenched into tight balls in the palms of her hands and she dared not even attempt to make eye contact with Aly. It was only when the Feeorin spoke that she felt this knot of pain untangling itself. Tensions released causing her muscles to twitch slightly, her lekku quivering along their length until she sighed heavily.

What could she possibly say that he had not? She didn’t know what relieved her more, to visibly witness sanity in action or to have avoided making a fool of herself before the entire Alliance. Certainly they would bond together and heal and continue to grow strong...it was as if a spell had been lifted from her mind and she cast her eyes about the room searching for Aurelian at last.

The Force in balance was the Light. The life of the galaxy flowing through all living things. A Jedi’s life was meant to be lived in that balance, untouched by the taint of the Darkside. There were choices and you had to make the right choices. No matter how difficult. Aurora had failed. She had tried to save Tyler and Arda, but she had failed. Arda was her student. Arda was one of the first. She loved that girl and she had left her to die. Aurora had chosen herself over her student. She decided a life could be lost to protect the secrets of the Order.

Her mind contained a century of the teachings of the Jedi, that would be impossibly powerful in the hands of the Sith. Aurora’s choice had rended her soul in two. The balance was distorted, her mind on fire, her heart aching, and her soul breaking. Aurora had once been the picture of a Jedi. She had once been true strength in the Force. She was ruined and she was on Al’doleem. Aurora needed help. She needed Leah, Luy, Val, and Vu’thair. Unfortunately, Val had decided to launch an unauthorized attack on Corellia and reveal the Jedi Order. Unfortunately, his trial was ongoing and she was expected to attend. She had landed just moments before the trial began. Her armor still a ruined mess from where the bolt struck, her robes tattered from her fleeing Nar Shadda. Aurora wrapped her robes around herself as she entered the monastery.

The moment she had stepped off the shuttle, she had locked her mental walls high and smothered her Force signature into oblivion. She was of equal strength to the others. They would not see the turmoil that lived inside of her, not until she could get the help she needed. Aurora walked quickly to the tribunal. Of course, it was already in session. It would be best if she kept her mouth shut. It would be best if she did not draw attention to herself. She slipped in a side door as Greybok finished his speech and Luy began his. Aurora’s eyes cast about the room. She needed this to be over, and she wanted Val to be absolved. She was scared and she needed answers. @Orbit @Deviant @Malon @Minuteman75 @Sangga @Mithias

Castor was already rather surprised by what was being said during this tribunal.

The master on trial didn't attempt to shift blame or plead for leniency so far - instead the man had seemingly accepted that he was going to face judgement for his actions. Regret wasn't something he felt from the man in abundance and Castor found himself hoping that 'judgement' didn't mean 'punishment' in the most strict of sense. The man seemed to accept that his actions would have consequences but believed them still to be right.

His own Master was conflicted, he could tell.

Doubtlessly some of those about to pass judgement wished that they had had the actual hearing in private so that only the announcement of the consequences was made public to the rest of the alliance. Now everyone was under pressure not only to do what they thought was right but to do so in a manner that the majority of the Alliance would agree with. It was an interesting dynamic and Castor was enjoying watching it unfold, truth be told.

But all of this?

It was all just thoughts rattling around within his own mind because, so far? The defendant hadn't actually had a chance to speak to answer for his actions. So far three people had piled on more and more questions and doubts and one person had spoken in his defense. Admittedly the xeno had spoken almost on behalf of the Jedi Master on trial today and Castor himself would have taken exception to being spoken for in such a manner but, then, he was still trying to drop some of the bad habits that came with being a Sith for your entire adult life, save for a few months.

All he wanted to hear was for the Master of the hour to actually get a chance to defend his actions - those who stood against him and those who stood with him were all just so much noise right now.

The only words that mattered right now would come from Master Rayth.

Council Chambers of the Old Temple
Al’doleem

Vu’thari listened to members of the Council carefully, measuring emotion and words. Not only was this part of his observation, but also the others gathered as well. Strong emotions were prevalent. It was not ideal, a public forum such as this, but the twi’lek also understood the need for transparency. They were not trying to keep secrets from their own, but this was not a time to take risks.

Looking over to Valentine, he caught the Jedi Master’s eye. The man simply nodded at Vu’thari for him to speak. He was sure the Jedi Master wished to hear from the Council before responding. Nodding back, the twi’lek looked up. He hated speaking in public. But ever since he embarked in this effort, his comfort with social interaction was growing, as well as his confidence in this area. He caught the eye of Aurora in the back, but he sensed nothing from her. She also did not appear to want to bring attention to herself, so Vu’thari obliged the fellow master and shifted his eyes to Valentine. Many eyes were on him as he took a small step forward. In a strong voice, the Jedi Master who came from Nar Shaddaa spoke to Valentine. His words were not laid out for approval and cared little about the judgment that would follow—Vu’thari spoke unfiltered and uncut.

“Master Rayth, the attack you led on Corellia was courageous and daring. It struck a blow to the Empire that they did not anticipate. When you revealed yourself, I am certain hope was fed to the far corners of the galaxy by the revelation of the Jedi’s existence. It will continue to grow and hopefully a fire will be lit and beacon of hope for the oppressed. It was an act of bravery that will not be forgotten…”

Pause. His eyes went down for a brief moment and lifted back up.

“It was also short-sighted. The decision that you made to reveal the Jedi was made without regard to the others in this room and the others who risk their lives for this Alliance every day. Tactically, it made sense. Strategically? It could very well be the end of us, thus the reason secrecy was paramount when we began this endeavor. The Empire has been fragmented and disjointed for so long because they had no common purpose. Even with the bold actions of the Mandalorians, they still bickered and fought. But now, we have given the Sith and the Empire a new focus. A common purpose. And we were not quite ready for that…”

Still keeping the gaze of Valentine for a few moments, he concluded, “Forgive us, we have been rude and not allowed you a chance to speak on your own behalf…please do so.”

Valentine stood there on his side of the table, his emotions fluctuating as each councilor laid what they thought of his actions out in the open. Leah had laid out his charges out to bear and each one was a sharp dagger that was plunged into his heart even though his face showed no such thing. The anger was apparent in Greybok, Ion, and others in the room. He despised the fact that Ion saw it as mistrust and Greybok saw it as mutiny. In truth, the General wasn't wrong but it still hurt Val despite how much he thought he prepared for it. Not once did he think he would hear these words put on him but Val then scoured over the reasons why he did what he did, it had to be done and he believed it with his heart and soul. The Jedi had to remain strong if he wanted to make it through this trial, pushing the pain down in order to give him clarity. Val's eyes met Ion's head on when he spoke, remaining quiet as the General led after that and leaned down on the table to show the full fury that was contained within his gaze. Despite their size difference, Val's gaze locked directly with Graybok's and the wookie would find no fear within the Jedi's gaze, it hard as steel. It was a fire and conviction that blossomed throughout him. He may have been the most imposing but Val was not intimidated in the slightest and he only had to show that through his eyes.

Master Luy and Vuthari offered their supportive words and also their critique which Val was thankful for, glad to know not all of them completely disagreed with his actions. It at least meant he had a chance to explain himself in this trial and Vuthari gave him the floor to speak after everyone else. Val noticed that Leah didn't add anything behind his charges and he wondered if she couldn't bring herself to do it or if she was too disappointed in him, controlling his own emotions at that time and making it difficult for him to sense anyone else if they weren't visibly showing it. Either way, Val knew he had to speak and he exhaled softly before leaning back from the table, "Before I begin my case I would like to address something important." Bringing his eyes to General Greybok once more, "I took a retinue of ten men with me onto Corellia." Val slipped his hand into his pocket before slowly pulling out three dog tags, one covered in dirt and scratches while the other had some blood splatter. "I lost three of your soldiers, Thomas Edward, Jacob Hunt, and Selena Newport. I'm terribly sorry for that and I want to inform you that they fought bravely to the end, believing in the end for what they were fighting for. I take full responsibility for their death." The dog tags flew out from his hand slowly before neatly arranging them in order on the table in front of the General. "We tried to recover the bodies but the battle zone was flooded with Imperials. We couldn't reach them without suffering more losses." His voice was disheartened but he eventually slipped his hand into his pocket once more before pulling out a comm piece and floating it over above the dog tags, "The other seven are alive and well, each taking different routes to return home. You can track their location on that until they return."

Val's gaze then slowly swept over to Alysanne, "As for the others that accompanied me, they were under my orders that it was a legit operation. I humbly accept any punishment that you have planned for the seven soldiers returning and for the students who joined me." The Jedi knew what the rules were and Alysanne right in front of him wasn't allowed to speak during this. As an extra precaution, Val's steely gaze bore into her and sent a message only she would catch, Do not speak. With Val claiming that and if Alysanne didn't speak, nobody would be able to refute that claim and that's how Val wanted it to be. With that finished, he dropped his gaze to the table, exhaling once more before speaking, "If we argue on the basis on what right I had to lead this assault, then I can tell you now that I had no right to do such thing. But do I believe that this was needed and the right thing to do? Then I can tell you without falt that yes, it was." Val dropped his hands from the table before raising his gaze once more, meeting each of the counselors as he continued, "How long have we said these words? That we're preparing for the right moment to strike, that we have to remain hidden from what we are? For too long we have been in the shadows my friends and deep down all of you know it as well. We've let these Empire's have squabbling fights over who controls what and who owns what, the galaxy suffering in their wake the entire time. And yet we just sit here and watch because we're too afraid to show ourselves."

Val glanced around at everyone that was in the room, seeing the faces of the people that hated him, feared him, supported him each one completely different from the next. So many differing opinions, ones that would agree and disagree and that's why it had to be done. He couldn't be the only one that saw it and Val returned his gaze to the counselors, "Deep down we know the truth. No matter how much preparing we do, we will never be able to fully match the Empire in strength." Val then looked to Ion, "It was never a case of mistrust, I trust all of you with my life." In his words, the Commander would know that the Jedi was telling the truth. Val would fight with Ion and the others any day of the week and be in their corner. Then Val's gaze went to Greybok, "But as I bet the General knows, we will never get anywhere in this unless we take a risks. If we sit here and wait, play it safe, then we will eventually be destroyed. Yes, we'll live to see the next day, maybe last a few more years but in the end, it won't matter." It was the bluntest truth that he could give and while they enjoyed this newfound success, it would only be so long before the Empire caught up and they lost whatever element of surprise they were trying to achieve. "I couldn't tell you all because this opportunity would have passed by us. It hurt me to do and while I honor and respect our code and ideals, this was not something I could pass on and be bogged down by discussion. We cannot match them in strength so we must take the initiative, make them stumble, question themselves, and capitalize on it."

While the others saw this as the destruction of the Order, Val saw this as the only way forward, the golden opportunity for them. Val placed his hands on the table and leaned toward the others to show the seriousness of his words, "I have thought of it strategically. We have given the Empire a common purpose but now we have also given the entire galaxy a purpose. As Master Vuthari pointed out, this attack will reach the far corners of the galaxy and everyone will hear of it. Not only will people know that the Rebel Alliance and the Jedi are alive, they now know the Empire is not indestructible. The people will know now that there is a light at the end of this dark tunnel, that there is something to strive for, to fight for, not just for themselves but for everyone who suffers the chains placed on them by the Sith. They have something tangible to believe in, no longer just myths and fairytales." Val's beliefs shone through, his words strong and conveying easily the conviction in his words and what he wholly believed in. "They know that someone is out there, fighting for their freedom and standing up to the tyrants of our galaxy. We are not here to bide our time and wait for it to be convenient for us to come out, we are to light the way forward for others to follow, to set an example that we cannot be subjugated and made puppets. That is our purpose, we are meant to be a beacon for the galaxy."

Alys hadn't expected the fire she saw in Grey's eyes as she finally locked eyes with him. She had known him a long time now, almost as long as she knew anyone in the rebellion, and this was the first time she had seem him like this. Anyone could have melted beneath his gaze, and she almost took an instinctive step back, but somehow managed to hold herself in place. Steeling her resolve, the smile vanishing from her lips as the gravity of the situation dawned on her. She had, on some level, betrayed his trust, and she finally realized that there was a possibility that things might not be the same between them. She had thought that she knew what coming here would mean. She had known that she had to do this to make sure that history did not repeat itself. She had walked in knowing full well that she might have to stand against the entire Order to do what she thought was right. But so worried was she about the grand scheme of things, that she had forgotten what really mattered. She had not been prepared to face Greybok and the look he gave her.

That was when Valentine showed up, walking in like the very image of a Jedi. She was still caught up in the new storm that had erupted in her mind, but when he nodded at her there was a moment of calm that came over her, and that helped her compose herself. He was about to face the prospect of possible exile, but still he wasn't letting it get to him. He greeted her like he would have any other day, when she herself suspected that he planned to take the fall for her as well. And as he spoke those suspicions turned to truth. She looked from Grey to Val, searching through the crowd for Aurora but not finding her and her unease grew.

No, she could not back down. Not now. She would make things right with Grey if her actions had broken them in any way, but neither would she back down and let Val face this on his own. She had caught his look, understood what it meant, what he expected from her. But she couldn't do it. She had been entirely aware of the fact that she was headed to Corellia without the Council's approval, and she was not going to let Val take all the blame. She almost chuckled then, when she realized the irony of the situation. She had defied the Council once to follow Val because it was the right thing to do. Now she was going to defy him, because it was the right thing to do. And that was what calmed her down, and gave her the resolve to continue. Val, Grey, Aurora, this is what they had all taught her, to do what was right, no matter the consequences.

"Fear is of the dark side, it is not the Jedi way." She finally spoke up, her head slightly bowed, her eyes on the floor. "We cannot let fear of defeat stop us from doing what is right." She let out a long breath before rasing her eyes and catching Val's eyes for a moment, an apology in the look she gave him before turning to face the Council, to face Grey, the apology still in her eyes. "One spark is all it takes to ignite the flames of hope, and that's what Corellia was. The Empress is dead, half the empire is unsure of its future, the Mandalorians openly rebel against the Sith. And yet, despite all these momentous events, the Galaxy whispers one word. Jedi." Her voice grew in confidence as she spoke, becoming more sure of herself with each word. "We have given hope to the Galaxy, and changed everything. For months I have been trying to convince the leaders of Malastare to meet with us, to join our cause. But to no avail. But now, with the news that the Jedi have returned, they have agreed to meet us, meet you, and discuss the possibility of joining our cause. Corellia did that, Master Rayth's actions did that."

She glanced once more at Val, before speaking up one last time, more softly this time. "Corellia won't be our doom, but of the Sith."

Each member of the Council made their voice known and Leah listened throughout. She was conflicted, searching for the big picture before she explored the details, but her mind wandered between two points of view. The General was every bit right. In the eyes of Alliance Command, Valentine violated the orders they were meant to follow. In the eyes of the Jedi, he committed a breach of faith and trust. Nothing could change that. Not the pious words of Master Luy, his sermon or his awkward pacing between Greybok and Valentine. Not the conflicting views from Vu’thari, who made every attempt to maintain a neutral, balanced position. Not the silent tremors in the gathering crowd, from Ner Giza to Castor. No— truth was constant.

Soon, Leah found her own position on the matter. Before she could make that position known, however, she noticed Master Blackwood melded with the crowd. She was deadpan, shoulders tense and body stiff. Wrapped in tattered robes, trying to hide her armor beneath. Bold as she was, the Jedi Master refused to join the others and instead kept her distance. Leah tried to reach out to her through the Force but struggled to find contact or feeling. She was closed off, her presence altogether gone. Why? The Jedi were in the open. There was no reason to hide anymore. But Leah realized there was something wrong. She did not need the Force to know. Her eyes searched the crowd. Where was Arda Breaux?

Worry festered on her like a tumor. Only a sudden, quiet voice behind her pulled Leah back into reality. “Ambassador, I have news from Mandalore.” She recognized the voice of one of her subordinates. “We could not reach Raz Solus, as you requested, for this hearing. But we have received reports that she has been proclaimed Mand’alor.” The Jedi Master hid her surprise. The Mandalorians were left without a leader for centuries. This was a historic moment, and yet, reminded Leah of another point in the tribunal: the extent of Valentine’s relationship with the woman. Not that a marriage would constitute punishment, but the Council needed to know. Was Raz the real cause of the attack? Had she convinced the Jedi to do what he did? So many questions, so little time.

Before Leah could get too carried away, Valentine pierced her thoughts. Her eyes glanced between him and the dog tags he had just tossed into the table. The men and women who died in the attack. Her heart ached. He was responsible. As he continued, Leah felt herself unravel again. One thread pulled her toward Aurora. Another to her student Arda and the rebel she accompanied to Nar Shaddaa. And another to Raz Solus, the Mandalorian. No— Mand’alor. Then there was the declaration from Emperor Vrael, calling for unity to end the Jedi threat once and for all. Leah unwinded and her thoughts tangled together until she was finally lost. Again, it took the voice of another to piece her back together: Alysanne.

The guidelines were clear. Only the Council could speak. However, the Jedi Master made no effort to stop the girl. She admired her defiance. Before the guards could descend on Alysanne and interrupt her first words, Leah raised a dismissive hand and allowed her to continue. Then, she listened. She found confidence, rebellion— hope. Leah was heartfelt, but when the girl was finished, she warned, “Alysanne, please. This hearing is for Master Rayth and him alone. Only those of the Council are permitted to speak.” She nodded to the guards. Not to take the girl away, but a signal to show that whoever chose to interject again would be interrupted and escorted out. But she was not done. Leah chose to respond to Alys' comments.

And you are right. We cannot fear the Sith. We cannot stop ourselves from doing what is right. But was this right?” She looked straight to Valentine. “Tell me, Master Rayth. Look me in the eye and tell me this was for the better of us all. That the loss of these men and women—” She gestured to the tags. "—was right." Alysanne may have had a point but she had only just joined the Alliance. She was barely a Padawan. Unlike the Jedi Master, she had not lived her whole life trying to fight the Empire. She had not seen what others saw. She had not lost what Leah lost.

Her gaze glanced to the dirty, bloodied dog tags once more. “These rebels died fighting against the Empire. They deserve honor and respect for their sacrifice.” She paused for a moment of silence but pushed through a heavy heart. “But they did not deserve to die the way they did. They didn’t have to. It wasn’t right.” She grieved their loss. “Such needless death.” There could have been another way. “Yes, you’ve given the galaxy a spark of hope Master Rayth, but only that. They still do not have the means to challenge the Empire. No weapons, no fleet, nobody yet to lean on. You’ve crippled several installations on a single world in the heart of the Imperial Republica. You encouraged riots in the streets of Coronet City. But tell me, is Corellia free?” She looked around for an answer. “No. As we speak, it remains under Imperial occupation.

I wonder what happened to the people there, inspired to rise up against their oppressors— after you and the Mandalorians up and left. What do you think the Empire did once they swept back through?” Leah didn’t bother to continue. Everyone knew the Sith would not tolerate dissension. Those that rose up would have been crushed underfoot. “After Mandalore shot through the shipyards of Kuat, what did the Empire do? They rebuilt. What do you think they will do on Corellia? The same thing. You have gained this Alliance nothing. We are already stretched thin across the Outer-Rim. Our fleet cannot maintain our holdings against an emboldened, alerted, and unified Empire. We do not have the resources necessary to help every world you believe you've inspired. You jumped the gun, and in doing so, shot us in the foot.

The Jedi are a beacon of hope, but the Sith now see this beacon too. I’m sure you’ve seen Emperor Vrael’s broadcast. Now, he will do whatever it takes to smother us out.” A deep sigh. She regretted having to shred through Valentine, but the other Jedi refused to do the same, forcing her to play the supposed villain of this story. “Even with the help of the Mandalorians, of your... wife ...in House Solus, who stands on the other side of the galaxy sandwiched between the Sith, I’m not sure if we can keep the fires of rebellion burning after what you've done.

OoC — forgive me for the massive post. I hope the pretty pictures will help. @Malon @Orbit @Minuteman75

It was hard for Mig to watch knowing he had been there as well. His friend, and now friends, were standing up for themselves boldly. The Gotal felt bad for them. He was well invested into the discussions going back and forth. Mig had hardly spoken to the Jedi at all. Basically not at all really. Alys though was his friend from various other instances and he ached as she spoke up out of turn. Subsequently, when Leah gave her opinions Mig started to realize they were on the losing side here. Once the Council woman had gone silent, Mig had actually stopped listening cause he disliked what she was saying.

"We knew it was wrong!" Mig blurted out, forgetting that he wasn't supposed to be speaking, but he said it before anyone could possibly stop him.

The Jedi was trying to protect them all and take the blame. Mig maybe partly realized that but it was wrong. He would not let this guilt eat him up. The Gotal was an honest, simple mind that would not be able to hold a lie like this. Whether or not the guards dragged him out, his message was out there. As the third leader of the Rebel strike, Mig was not just speaking nonsense either. Those who knew of his involvement would know he was speaking truth. Master Rayth would not take Mig's sins. The Rebels were a team and even if Mig had not known about the Jedi, he had heard the legends enough to be inspired by them.

«I will deal with you — both of you — personally, later.» Greybok's roar in Mig's direction sounded like a lion's roar and was loud enough to rattle teeth and pierce eardrums. «Do you think it somehow noble that you knowingly went and did the wrong thing?» Then, gaze sweeping to Val and Alys specifically, he added, «Do you think being Jedi excuses what you've done? This rebellion is more than the damned Jedi. Everyone here has a reason to fight the Sith. Your religious nonsense, special powers, and fancy laser-swords do not give you anymore right to disobey orders and endanger lives than anyone else here.» He threw an apologetic glance, perhaps the first ever, in Leah's direction as if to tell her she was the exception to his statements. He knew she didn't allow the fact that she was a Jedi to blind her to the needs of those who were not. «So spare me your lectures about the dark side and fear, as if any of you have lived long enough, as I have, to truly know these things.»

«This rebellion only works if we all work together. Jedi and non-Jedi. It only works if orders are obeyed, even if those orders are at times frustrating.» He reached for the dog-tags Leah had just been examining, upon which were etched the names of men he knew and cared about. Scooping them up, he dangled them for all to see, but especially Val. «These men died heroes, but they nevertheless died in vain, because they died on a lie. You confessed as much. They thought the mission was legitimate and went to their deaths believing they were fighting for something worthwhile—because they knew the council would only ever risk their lives if they were certain the objective was going to have long-lasting consequences for the Empire, bringing us one step closer to a free galaxy.»

«You — all of you — deceived them. You hit a target that will be repaired within a fortnight and jeopardized our rebellion in doing so. Furthermore, you have just increased the cruelty under which the people of Corellia will live. The Empire will look there for you first, since that is where you made your 'grand debut,' but it won't be you who suffers.» Once again, the Wookiee general bared his fangs and grit his teeth. He was mad. And the more he thought about this situation, the angrier he became. «It will be the people of Corellia that suffer for your actions. Their blood and the blood of these men—» He tossed the dog-tags across the conference table so that they slid in front of Val. «—are on your hands. Think on that the next time you delude yourselves into believing you did the 'right thing.'»

Greybok took a deep breath to compose himself. Then, he turned slightly towards Commander Ion. «Commander, I will deal with the mutinous pilots under my command later and privately.» He did not dare face Mig or Alys as he said it. It pained him to even think the words, much less speak them aloud. But they had made their choice, and he was left with the job of being their commanding officer—a job he planned to faithfully execute. «As for this man, he too is guilty of the crime of mutiny, and I recommend he receive no leniency in your final judgement.»

With that, he pushed away from the conference table and folded his arms across his chest. As far as he was concerned, his vote on this matter was cast. @Orbit @Deviant @Mithias @Minuteman75 @Sangga

Aurora watched as the rebellion crumbled around her. Jedi argued against Jedi, Greybok rained down condemnation, and Hugo stayed silent. She could feel Leah’s eyes on her, the woman expecting Aurora to speak. The Morellian Jedi stayed silent. She watched in quiet horror as everything they built began to fall apart. Even Alysanne foolishly raised her voice against the Rebel Council. This should have been a Jedi matter, this should have been for the Jedi Masters to decide. Val was wrong to involve the Alliance, but what was done could not be undone.

This could not be how their great victory began. All she saw was paths that lead to Darkness. Aurora did not trust the Mandalorians. She deeply disliked Val’s entanglement with that Solus woman. That did not mean he should suffer for the beat of his heart. Aurora needed to speak. She needed to say something. Aurora needed to find herself, but she no longer knew where to look. Her time was ending. The damage she had done was irreversible. She could not see the Alliance splinter into pieces. Aurora pushed her anxiety deep down. She pushed away all of the horrible things that happened on Nar Shadda. Aurora was no longer herself, but she could pretend for a moment. She would fake it for a moment.

Her mental walls remained tightly shut as her signature was nothing. Master Aurora Blackwood stepped forward for perhaps the last time. Aurora walked to stand beside Val, her arms folded across her chest. Her eyes were empty as she spoke. “This display serves no one.” Her gaze fell across the Masters she knew so well. “Have we learned nothing from our past?...We created an Empire with these operas.” Aurora looked throughout the room. “There is no justice in this shouting…no truth in the rabble.” She looked at Hugo and then Leah. “If there is to be punishment it should not be a spectacle, Commander…send the crowd away.” She fought to keep control. She only had to maintain the illusion until they were alone. Aurora could manage that, she prayed she could manage that. @Deviant @Malon @Orbit @Minuteman75 @Mithias @Sangga

After the disaster that was the Nar Shaddaa mission and taking a longer convoluted route to get to this place to make sure he wasn't tailed or followed when getting to the Al’doleem temple, a Galactic Alliance location that was previously secret to him until this point, until the Jedi have shown themselves. Tyler, on the way over to this place, got caught up with the latest happenings via the Holonet. The strikes on Corellia, the Jedi have shown themselves to the public. The Jedi have fought there and battled against Sith defends and caused some damage.

The Jedi have been living in the shadows, undercover in the Rebellion. Of course when the leader of those said strikes, a Jedi lets the galaxy know they are out there, fighting against Sith tyranny; is on trial. Tyler came late, still wearing his blue-colored armor. The Rebel Council and the apparent Jedi Council is assembled. Very nice to see that Aurora is alive and well. Of course she would since she fled the fight on Nar Shaddaa against a trio of Sith the second things got rough. Tyler would glare at her for a good few moments. He could say something, but he won't.

He did come in on time to hear some said to Master Valentine Rayth. Reasons for commending him and his actions, most of them superficial and sounded exaggerated. It seems like the Rebel General especially has it out for him. No secret bases or assets were compromised as far as the Ex-Imperial agent knows. Even though Tyler distrusts force-sensitives, Rayth's actions are something he can stand behind. Plus an alliance with the Mandalorians, that's a big deal considering how many blows they've done the Sith in recent memory.

And really, what are they going to do Rayth? Exile him? One only needs to read a history book to figure out that's not going to be the best idea.

Feeling the thick sensation of tension form around her, the Jedi Padawan stood near the back of the cramped room, the back of her new robes pressed lightly against the wall of the chamber. The room was bustling with hushed voices and potent emotion, which Fey felt rolling from one person to the next in heavy waves. It had been this way since she entered, a strong mixing of feelings that was hard to hone in on.

Fey was not entirely sure of the situation at hand. The young student had spent most of her time recently buried somewhere in the archives of The Crypt on Ellora, and had only left for Al'doleem when the news reached her and it seemed an imperative moment for the fate of the New Jedi Order.

When Valentine arrived, and the din of voices ceased, she studied the jedi master. She had never met this one of the five, and therefore had nothing but the hushed whispers to compare him to. Tapping her bottom lip in consideration, the young pantoran let her eyes slide around the chamber. Her eyes paused on Master Reach, her own mentor, as she began listing the charges against the accused. fey attempted to gauge her thoughts. It was nearly impossible, the room was too loud. Conflict, sure, but every Order member here tonight was conflicted, including herself.

On one hand, the order was just getting on its feet-- division now would only ensure failure in the future. The empathetic pantoran weighed the possible outcomes from this trial. Must retribution truly be paid? The young woman could sense a growing division. But the cost of the exposure could mean the end of the budding new Order. That would be the price of the wrong choices made at such touchy times as this.

Discontent with her own uncertainty, Fey let the back of her head rest against the stone of the wall of the Chamber and let her eyes drift closed, listening avidly and allowing her mind to become and open channel with the force as the proceedings commenced.

Valentine had finished his words, seeing his words play across the councilors mind in front of him. He had no idea what to expect after he had laid out his words, wondering which would agree and which who didn't share the same view. Val, however, felt something flicker in Alysanne and he brought his gaze over to her. She started to speak and he knew instantly what she was doing, seeing the apology clear as day across her eyes. Goddamnit, Val thought to himself, shaking his head slightly as he didn't want the others to be a part of this. This was his mistake alone and while he appreciated the support from Alysanne greatly, he would rather her leave out of this unscathed and him with a few extra scars. He was hoping that Leah would cut her off as the guards stepped forward but instead the woman let her speak, causing Val to lock his jaw slightly and momentarily. While he wasn't surprised that Alysanne had spoken out, he wished she would just hold her tongue.

But when Leah spoke it's what truly shocked him to his core. Val looked at her completely shocked and it would be apparent to her, barely believing the words that were coming out of her mouth. He thought he knew her well, she was his friend but he couldn't see how she was thinking like this. Val thought she would have been on his side but that thought got completely turned upside down on its head. He appeared genuinely saddened by her words, "Oh c'mon Leah, you can't tell me you think like that. How do you think a wildfire starts? All it takes is a simple spark to light everything aflame, it may be slow at first but it will catch on, building upon itself until that small fire becomes an engulfing flame that swallows everything in its path and cannot be ignored. Out of everyone here, I thought you would agree with me. I'm disheartened and disappointed you hold such a bleak view of our future." It was evident in his voice and it seemed painful for him to even say it but his gaze was eventually torn off of her as another person spoke up. Val just exhaled softly, seeing Ming bluntly say they knew it was wrong. He was the other student that joined him on Corellia and the Jedi was thankful for his assistance, wishing he could have actually met him in person. But Ming was just digging a hole for himself as well and he didn't want that. They were still students, they shouldn't have to be put through this in the first place.

That's when General Greybok spoke up, letting the two students know his anger for their actions before training his gaze on Val. The General laid into him, Val standing still as a statue and stoic as one. The General claimed that the soldiers did die in vain, not knowing exactly what they were fighting for until their demise. It wasn't true and Val was glad the other seven weren't here in this room, at least able to accept this so they wouldn't be reprimanded. Every single one of those soldiers knew exactly what they were there for and Val had told them all of the costs it could take. The Jedi had never seen more determination on the soldier's face until then, each fully accepting their responsibility and what this could mean. It was frustrating to him that he couldn't tell the truth that they did know what they were fighting for but it depended on the other seven's military careers. It was a small price to pay but it was the only reason the Jedi was able to stand there and take the brunt of it. Val had been with them in the end and he would always remember those soldier's names. If General Greybok won't, then he would, sliding his hand over the table to pick up the dog tags and slip them into his pocket.

When the General finished it was clear where he stood on the matter. That's when all of a sudden Aurora appeared out of thin air, appearing worse for wear than ever before and causing Val to arch his eyebrow slightly. She had concealed her signature immensely and Val worried for her but before he could ask, Aurora asked if they could make this a private endeavor. She looked to the Commander and pleaded with her eyes but before he could speak, Val held up his hand to stop him,
"I have one more thing to address Commander Ion, respectfully." Val then swept his gaze to General Greybok, his eyes containing the same fire and steel that the wookie gave him. While the General showed it by how loud he was, Val continued to speak calmly, the power of his emotions instead transferred into his words, "With respect as well General Greybok, with your age and experience I expected you to see the full picture." Val then stepped forward before placing both of his hands on the table, sweeping his gaze across all of them, it lingering on Leah for a few seconds before he spoke, "I will make this clear now, Raz Solus is not my wife. I met her years ago before I was a Jedi and not only had she saved my life on multiple occasions, and the lives of my friends, she has fully gained my respect through the years I've known her. "

"Why do you think we have been safe for so long? That we could expand our network and reach with minimal Imperial resistance? Because our allies," Val put extra emphasis on the word to remind everyone in the room, "Have been fighting the war on two fronts and head on for us, demanding their attention. Every day they bury their kin in the ground while we continue to make deals and sneak in the shadows waiting for our "moment" to come to us. Raz Solus told me directly herself, she was losing confidence in this alliance of ours and who could blame her. We were treating them exactly as the Sith were, letting them conduct the fighting and losses while we reaped the benefits in the background." Val let his words sink in for a moment before giving a pointed glance to the General, "Instead of our inaction making us lose one of our closest and strongest allies, I had to step in personally to make sure we didn't. This was never about destroying the tower, this was about sending a message to the Galaxy that the Sith are not indestructible and to maintain our alliance we worked so hard for." Val pushed off from the table, finishing his final words before gesturing to Aurora who stood beside him, "As Master Blackwood mentioned, however, I'm sure we like to discuss the details privately of our," Val then gestured his hand to Leah, "friends who are sandwiched between the Sith." The Mandalorians were in the same situation or even worse than the GA, and as Leah pointed out they were sandwiched between two factions of Sith but yet they lived and thrived. The Jedi thought it would be too on the noise to point out that the Mandalorians nearly proved every point he made, this could be done despite their size and power, this fight could be won. Either way, Val clasped both of his hands behind his back before turning silent, letting the Commander speak now.

Before he knew it, everyone and their mother wanted to say their piece. The commander had to utilize every ounce of discipline he had within him not to lash out at everyone who kept interrupting. Valentaine could not even speak in his own defense for a short time because of it. All these sermons and rants were getting them nowhere. At last Rayth did spoke for himself. Hugo listened carefully as possible to everything said by the human.

He refused to look away as the explanation finally came. When it did the Duros paused, all of the words sinking into his mind.

Val you damn fool. You think we all want to stay in the shadows forever? While watching the Sith continue to use the galaxy as their kriffing personal playground, frak no! Commander Ion thought with new conflict growing within him.

There was no doubt about Val’s sincerity not at all, yet didn’t change the fact the Jedi broke their trust to commit these actions. When Alys jumped in Hugo raised an eyebrow with an expression that showed everyone he wasn’t impressed at all by the grandstanding followed by Mig’s brief confession. By the force don’t make this harder than it already is. Hugo silently pleaded with mounting frustration.

Greybok and Leah meanwhile laid into the duo band Val, with several key points of grievances and possibilities to counter the benefits Valentine brought up.

The Durosian was to speak one more to silence the commotion when Aurora Blackwood of all people appeared before them. So she had returned in time but where is Arba he wondered. Further question on the subject ceased when the Morellian aired her own opinion. Hugo’s frustrations melted away into realization in his red eyes. Briefly the commander closed his eyes, ashamed that he let this tribunal turn into a circus.

The story of Andraste’s fall resurfaced in his memories. It involved how her trial being something similar and the Jedi council’s decision that splintered their Order, helping to bring about the reign of the Sith. The very idea of re-enacting the same scenario was the last thing Hugo wanted. He still believed Val needs to be tried but not like this. The latter then continued to defend himself, even bringing up information that Raz Solus was losing patience with their alliance.

Apparently they hadn’t learned about Nar Shaddaa strikes yet. Without warning Hugo Ion slammed his left fist onto the table, the sound echoing across the room for all to hear.

Those closest to him at the table would hear the Commander whisper with determination. “The cycle ends here. We must be better than this.” First looking at Valentine, followed by the council members and Jedi masters he took the effort to glance at the rest of the rebel assembly. They would note his posture straightened and his voice filled with renewed authority, proclaiming.

“We will no longer disgrace ourselves by keeping this tribunal as a bloody spectacle. With the expectation of the Alliance council and the Jedi masters, everyone else present is to exit these chambers immediately. I will personally inform you all the verdict once it is settled. That is an order.”

Everyone will hear by his tone alone it is a command that will be carried out. Once all of the lower ranking rebels and Jedi were all gone a few minutes later Hugo looked at everyone left in the room. Subsequently, he said.

“Before we resume let me make something clear to all of you. Keep your damn composure even if it hurts. Stick to speaking about the facts alone not spouting out future predictions of our cause from either view. Furthermore personal relationships imagined or real have no place here for discussion.”

His eyes were specifically on both Leah and Valentine upon saying those latter words. Sighing heavily Ion then concluded. “Now let us proceed without further delay.”

Hopefully, the tribunal can be done soon so the focus can be centered back on the Hutta operations. If the Mandalorians really are starting to doubt the Rebels’ commitment to the fight against the Sith then they will soon find out how seriously mistaken they are.

//End Thread

The tribunal will be now a private session and hopefully be finished in a short sequel thread. Stay tune.
