Well kriff. He was sure that was going to take the guy's arm off, but he just barely managed to snake that shoto in there. The Force must have willed it, and Vizim couldn't argue.

His heart was still racing as the blows came to a stop. Each bout was quick and violent, and it gave him a rush that couldn't be matched by anything else.

I'm only fighting now because you've been in my way, he said matter-of-factly. He had a job to do and he'd kill anyone he had to in order to see it done. He wasn't looking to pick a fight with every Jedi he ran into on the way.

The last bout of stabs and jabs and left the two having switched places with Vizim's back to the security room and Crix's to the door Vizim had come in. Perhaps it was symbolic in its own way.

Can't say the same about the guys that'll be barging in the door I just came in, though, he said. No, they would be out for blood, but Crix had a few moments before that happened. If he hurried.

Vizim started backing toward the security room, more than happy to take the Jedi up on his suggestion of fighting another day. With weapons still held in both hands he gave a slight nod.

Until next time, then, he said, and if they went their separate ways, he would continue on toward the security room. It was just another ticket he had to punch before he could go home.

Well, he had a point even if he didn't really agree with it. The only reason they had been fighting was because they stood against each other for their objectives were mutually exclusive. Only trouble was that now even if he was able to hold the Sith off, all he would manage to do was secure a small section of the Temple.

The fight was over here - they'd lost.

It took something inside of him to accept that, like something clicking into place. Oddly enough, it seemed to give him a sense of peace and acceptance. The battle was lost and throwing himself back into the fray at this point would serve to only add more death and suffering atop the defeat, either his own or Vizim's - it didn't matter.

Accepting a loss was something he had been trying to work on for... decades at this point. Crix had never dealt with loss well at all but in this hallway, dripping blood all over the floor? Something just clicked.

There would be other battles and he would fight them.

Crix let out a slow breath and the tension began to leave his body as he accepted something he had once railed against. Would he fight to correct it in the future? Absolutely. But, for now, it was time to admit that he could push no more. He gave the Sith a slight smile that might not have shown up very well in the shadowed way their lightsaber illuminated the area.

"Until next time. Don't get too comfortable here, my friend, we'll be back."

He extinguished both lightsabers as he stepped back, the darkness of the hallway helping to mask his escape from both Vizim and the reinforcements that were, even now, making their way into the Temple.

The Jedi would return and the battle would begin again.
