The fourth and final Rebels prequel short, titled "Not What You Think" (which has also, in some places, been called "Property of Ezra Bridger"), has been released:

Before anything else: I wonder if that pilot and his encounters with the Ghost crew will become a running gag. Because his voice seems perfect for someone who did not sign up for this c***.

Outside that, I felt like this gave a better impression of Ezra than the shows own start did, despite roughly the same info coming across. Ezra's a bit of an ass who sees an opportunity and takes it, whilst possessing some odd abilities. I think partly because in this case there was more room for banter against someone else first, and him talking to himself at the end is more if a victory lap.

Though this kinda make me want an episode where the crew of the Ghost gets stranded with a stormtrooper. That'd be a neat concept.

I like the bookending they did with the music. Ezra's whistling at the beginning, then the full orchestra at the end.

I still think the wrist mounted energy sling thing is dumb.

It's a little silly but I think it makes sense for a 14 year old who doesn't really have access to more legitimate weapons. Odds are he'll only use it in Spark of Rebellion, since the Visual Guide shows that he has a lightsaber. If I'm remembering the right lightsaber, it has the ability to be converted into a blaster, so he will have a real gun.

I actually like that idea. It'd be cool to have a running gag like that, especially for when the series inevitably gets more serious.

He'd be basically the Star Wars equivalent to the cabbage seller of Avatar. Except replace cabbages with TIE Fighters.

Funny you mention the cabbage seller:

Watch the end of that.

...Not quite what I meant on cabbages and TIE Fighters, but I'll take it.

Plot twist: Zeb stole the fighter from said pilot. Pilot gets reprimanded for allowing theft AND for property damage.

I meant the Rodian screaming at the end. Seems based on the cabbage dude.

I am not exactly remembering what planet this is, but I assume this the Outer Rim, yeah? I see no reason why Ezra can't have some sort of projectile firearm.

I can't even remember the last time I've seen a slingshot in real life, let alone a Freshman in high school (14 years old in the States) using one.

If he drops it in favor of a blaster/lightsaber (which I have my own head scratching over, but we've been over that in private) fine. Overall, I will still like Ezra's character I think.

The planet itself has been created to set the backdrop for Ezra, but yeah: Outer Rim.

Judging from all the shorts they're released thus far- it seems like I'll be doing what I did with the Clone Warts cartoon, which is watch the first episode or two, then ignore it completely for a couple seasons until the quality improves. Giving Disney the benefit of the doubt, hopefully the writers will feel bold enough to add some more complexity and maturity to the show after the foundation is laid out.

As it stands, if I have to watch one more scene involving some protagonist caricature casually embarrassing a evil-stupid Imperial, I'm going to choke a kitten.
