Torgrir paced impatiently about an empty training room, his nerves getting the better of him. He was to meet his master soon, and he had little idea of what to expect. He had arrived at the academy some time ago, but had only just now been assigned a master. He thought for sure that he had been all but forgotten in the massive knot of new students coming and going. But now, his wait was over and he could begin the journey to becoming a full member of the Jedi Order, as he had always aspired. He hoped his master would be skilled in the ways of lightsaber combat, something he had always excelled at. Now, it was just a matter of waiting a few more moments.

Kaeri walked through the training halls of the Jedi Temple. Her new apprentice, Togrir, was waiting for her. All she'd been given was his name, not his species, not his home planet, nothing. She came to the training room Torgrir was supposed to be in. Excuse me. Torgrir, I'm your new master, Kaeri Vanay.

Torgrir whirled about quickly to face his new master. He felt the instinctual shame of a stranger knowing his name that was bred into him, a vestige of his Firrerreo upbringing. Nut, he quickly decided, if anyone deserved to know his name, it had to be his new master. Quickly recovering, he bowed deeply to the Jedi Knight he now faced. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Master Jedi," the padawan intoned in the humblest way he knew how, "I eagerly await your guidance in the ways of The Force."

"I would learn the ways of the lightsaber so that I may defend the innocent and protect the weak." Torgrir blurted, words spilling form his lips at an incredible speed. The padawan had had plently of time to think about this as he had waited in his chambers for his training to begin.

Kaeri smiled. This padawan was eager. She'd have to work with him on that. What do you know of the different forms?

Torgrir took a deep breath and recited from his memory: "There are seven forms of lightsaber combat, and every successive style requires the knowledge of the previous forms." He hesitated. ...I only know the first form: Shii-Cho, the determination form." He had said this last looking down at his shoes as if they were the most interesting thing on the planet.

Torgrir returned to recitation. "The fourth form of seven, called aggression form, characterized by Force-assisted gymnastics." As he said this, he puffed out his chest slightly and put his hands behind his back. He was glad he was able to appear so knowledgeable.

The seventeen year old did know how to recite. I won't ask you about the other forms, but I would like to know if there is one you would like to learn.

Kaeri grabbed a lightsaber and held it in the opening stance of Ataru. Whenever you're ready.

Torgrir hesitated for a brief moment, collecting himself and concentrating. He pulled his blue lightsaber off of his left hip and attempted to copy his master's stance, getting the jist of it correct. The padawan breathed a heavy sigh, saying, "I am ready, master."

Torgrir was a little taken aback at the speed in which his master charging at him. He barely recovered in time to block the blow, albeit awkwardly, with his saber tip pointed downwards. He pushed on Kaeri's saber, attempting to throw off the attack.
