THE ORB OF TRANSFORMATION

2f33eec572b2c3816b90e6384a3df61f.jpg
The Orb of Transformation is a tool and weapon created by the Sith Council member Darth Andruil as a means of creating abominations and Sithspawn on a large scale rather than having to convert individual victims. After having discovered the means to create abominations, she used the information in conjunction with her knowledge of Sith Alchemy and Nightsister magick in order to create an artifact that can convert sentient and non-sentient beings alike into twisted versions of themselves.

Designed primarily to be used in a controlled setting, the device is seemingly benign in appearance. It is quite large and typically sits on a stand when not in use. Upon activation, the orb levitates and begins to radiate powerful, invisible waves of dark side energy. Although the precise means by which it functions isn't clear to most, it is thought to open a direct channel to the dark side and pour that energy into those in close proximity.

The Orb is a completely unique construct and kept in secret for the production of abominations and Sithspawn. The device is capable of converting any individual within thirty meters into a twisted abomination within the course of approximately one minute. With the proper "programming" it is even capable of melding together synthetic and organic materials through the use of technomancy to create hybrid abominations. Because of the limited radius, victims are typically locked in a large chamber for conversion.

Although construction of the device required a great deal of knowledge and power, its use now is quite simple. Although unresponsive to those without the ability to use the Force, those who have this capacity must simply focus on the object and recite a secret incantation to activate it. The distance that one must be from the object to activate it is variable based on one's strength in the Force. For obvious reasons, it is highly inadvisable to be within thirty meters of the Orb.

Intent
In keeping with her role as the leading expert on the arcane in the Sith Order, Darth Andruil is going to be creating numerous artifacts for use this timeline and in the future. The thought was to create an item that can create abominations similar to the darkstaff but with fewer "issues" that are associated with it (mobility, sentience, etc.). This is a means of creating abominations on a wider scale than having to make each individual one. This probably qualifies as site lore, though I'm uncertain.

OOC Notes
The existence of this item is currently not known to anyone who has not been specifically informed of its existence in character by Darth Andruil. In case there are concerns regarding ability to construct such a device, her prerequisites for the skills involved are the use of Darth Kravos's holocron on abominations, a holocron teaching Sith alchemy/magick acquired on Korriban, and a lifetime of using Nightsister magick in addition to Sith Councilor-level skill with the Force.

You mention the sphere is large - is it as large as depicted in the image? I'm trying to get an idea on the ease of maneuverability/ability to deploy this in say, a city center or something of that nature.

Is it possible for a person to resist its effects?

Yes, size in the picture. Not resist per se. Only way to resist it is to get out of its range

Hmm. I could see that being.. problematic. So you're saying (this is just an example) someone as powerful as Yoda wouldn't even be able to resist it in any capacity?

I would think someone sufficiently talented or powerful in the Lightside of the force would be able to resist the energies attempting to convert them. Do you disagree?

Someone strong in the Force could probably resist it long enough to get out of range, but if they keep sitting next to it or get locked in a room with it, it'll end up being bad for their health. It only has a 30 meter range and takes a minute to work. Your average joe off the street probably wouldn't be able to move, but someone above average could get out of range
