ooc: Open to GA Rebels Only
star-wars-rogue-one-rebel-alliance-council-meeting.png

It seemed every day the galaxy was shifting, governments far and wide were being formed, Empires and threats were around every corner. It seemed that there was much uncertainty to everything, those who had fought for years for the freedom of all had begun to feel lost. The Jedi had their code and legacy, but what about those who held no such powers? Those who fought against the Empire, to keep their people free? It seemed that the force was pulling things in a direction that the young Kaj could not predict.

He like many had gotten the encrypted messages, and he would find himself within the confines of the meeting room, surrounded by those who had fought within the Rebellion far and wide. He would give them all a slight nod, the young Mandalorian keeping best to hide the burns that stretched across the left side of his face.

"What about this Republic...some of my men have left to join their cause," a Phuii captain explained to another member.

"What about those who still are under tyranny in the outer rim, we can't forget about them," a Yakoran would retort.

The young Mandalorian would listen to their responses, with several ideas of his own in mind, he only hoped that there would be those with some credibility to arrive and assure the group of men and women that their cause had been for naught.

Alex had arrived several days earlier when he had been called to a meeting. Being in the process of transferring squads was a perk he was willing to milk to chip into these meetings when he could. The amount of people almost made the walls shrink around him. Face to face, shadow to shadow, Alex moved his eyes around the room in rapid yet deliberate swaths. Everything in the room was at one point in his gaze; a habit he picked up from the two ambushes he had been in already.

The officers in the meeting room shouting at each other with talks of the new Republic that had formed among other issues were like a droning white noise in the young rebels' ears. Different mission, different purpose. Our goal is to protect those who live under tyranny and free them. We should focus on that. Alex kept the thought to himself as he gazed around the room. Maybe I should speak up? These officers will argue for days if we don't.

"Our goal is to free those under tyranny, anything else is secondary. While there are people enslaved, we will exist," Alex said. He folded his arms across his chest. His normal gear wasn't on his person, but the grey fatigues he wore and the R5R blaster rifle slung diagonally across his back pointed him out as someone who fights on the front lines instead of someone who orders others to do so. "We shouldn't worry about the people that are already free. Let's focus on those that aren't."

Davis knew he hadn't made himself popular by questioning the actions of the Jedi Grand Master, but speaking up didn't equal to giving up and abandoning the cause he had risked his life for and thus he found himself a willing participant of this meeting. "There are many xenophobes out there still supportive of the Empire-" he was again unburdened by the rigors of protocol and didn't hesitate to speak up, "-fighting pirates doesn't stop that, but if we can strike hard at the very thing these idiots admire," he paused and grabbed a small pocket-sized holo-projector which after a press of a button showed the planet of Dromund Kaas. "the Sith. Maybe then we can prevent the remnants of the Empire to rise."

He knew his plan was bold. Maybe too bold, even for Star Squadron and other elite rebel units. Still, Davis feared that if they didn't make a bold move they might as well disband and join the Republic.

Tycho stood at a darkened end of the meeting room. Thinking through everything that had been said during the meeting that had just taken place. He had fought in the blasted war since the beginning. Watching friends get injured or killed for a cause all of them believed and fought for.

He is not sure how long he had stood in the darkened corner thinking. Besides the sounds of foot steps leaving the room it was silent. Until he heard new voices speaking up. One he recognized. Others not so much. Keeping his arms crossed in front of his chest the rebel officer looked over to the group. Obviously concerned with what occured during the meeting.

Stepping away from the corner the General spoke up. His voice a little rough, "There will always be supporters of the Empire. Just as there would have been for the Galactic Alliance if we were the ones beaten down." He reminded Davis. Looking at those present in the room, "You are right though. If we strike hard we can prevent the Empire from rising again." Clearing his throat the General shifted his crossed arms a bit, "Strike hard and at key planets that are of importance. Bring them into the Alliance or the Republic then those that support the Empire will have a harder time rising up."

The man pondered. Wondering if there was something he missed mentioning. There was one, "But. Due to the situation with the Mandalorians. Until the results of the meeting with the Mand'alor is known. We should be careful. If we make a wrong move it can be seen as an act of war." He cautioned. Not caring if his warning fell on deaf ears.

Striking the heart of the Imperial Remnant, it would send a signal. The young mandalorian snapped his fist into his palm as he gave a nod towards both Davis and Alex's thoughts. He would push through the crowd and towards the table, nodding towards the older and younger man that he hadn't met before. He agreed with their plan, what point was there to be a resistance if they did nothing? He was going to speak, but then the voice of a man he had heard many times over the holonet broke through the crowd.

"General," he gulped as he gave a quick salute before pulling his hand down, "My comrades and yourself are correct...What is left of the Empire has been splintered and broken. The Republic must use legality to their actions, but we are not bound by such a thing. I believe that what..." He'd turn towards Davis for a moment, "What he said is correct. We should strike Kaas, hit Imperial Targets, topple statues of Andraste and the Sith." His hands would drum against the table, "Maybe it will inspire the Mandalorians, prove to them that we are capable and strong enough to fight beside them. General with your permission, I call for an operation against the Sith Stronghold."

Alex eyed the General. A warm feeling of pride swelled in him as the General spoke, but Alex knew better than to trust it completely. He suppressed it partly. Folding his arms across his chest he nodded with the Generals' words, and then to the scarred rebel's words after. It was a big hit, a risky hit, but if they could pull it off it'd be worth it; the thought of a lot of dead Imperials solidified the warm feelings of pride.

"It's risky, but do-able." He unfolded his arms and placed his hand on the table in the center of the room. "Let's hope we're crazier than they are if we do this."

Tycho rested the palms of his hands on the table. Thinking very carefully. Striking at Kaas will be a bold and risky move. But if it proves to be successful then it will send a very clear message to everyone, not just the Sith.

While he did not like the idea of sending those willing to go to their possible death. Something like this was bound to happen. Now or later. Swallowing hard the General finally decided to speak after thinking everything through.

The General glanced at everyone, "I will give you the all clear for striking at Kaas. But. This will be your main objective." The man stated, speaking slowly but firmly to get the message through to them, "Instead of going after any statue you come across. Go for the one of Andraste in the square in front of the capital building." The man paused, "Topple it then get the hell out of there when the job is done. Do this without harming the civilians. Harm the civilians and you might as well kiss the message that will be sent from toppling the statue good bye." The man silenced himself. These two objectives should be enough to send a message out. For now if the task is successful, "Is this clear?" He will ask everyone in the room.

Davis couldn't believe it, "A statue!?" he all but hissed in sudden anger. "Kriff your statues. We either bomb their palace or we don't go to Kaas."

All this task of destroying statues and then the general giving the clear on destroying a single one, but only if there was no collateral damage, infuriated Davis. Getting to Kaas would be difficult and more than likely not everyone would survive the trip. There was no way Davis would sacrifice good men and women to topple a single statue of an Empress that hadn't ruled for 500 years. Stuff like this was exactly what made the Galactic Alliance merely a meat shield for the Jedi. The holo-image of Dromund Kaas died with a press of the button and Davis pocketed the little device. "If you don't want collateral, we won't go to Kaas. So, what if-" he suddenly pressed forward to the main holo-terminal and started typing on the console, "-what if we strike the tomb of the Eternal." Suddenly old footage of the Eternal emerged, it's horrifying mask recognizable to all.

"The only thing those Sith care about is their tombs, why do you think they retreated their most powerful subjects to their tomb worlds!?" It was clear that he wasn't speaking out of anger towards their former idea but had a clear idea of how to strike a heavy blow, "We can fly Star Squadron bombers through the Korriban mountains and drop city-killers on them. No collateral." he turned towards the General (@Nommie) as he said the latter.

It was an ambitious plan and the likelihood of survival was bad, but then this was exactly the sort of desperate act that had not only created the Galactic Alliance in the first place, but instilled hope in the galaxy. People needed reminders of what hope looked like and destroying the tomb of the Eternal was what would put them back on the map.

Alex folded his arms across his chest again and took a step back. His hazel eyes shifted from the General to Davis and back again. A pit of helplessness started to bubble in his stomach, but he ignored it. It was true that if they went to Kaas, a single statue wouldn't do much good, but it could start a spark which is all a rebellion needed. What the team would need to do at that point is stay ground side and carry out a guerrilla war against the Sith in their own backyard. Slaves would start flocking to them when enough infamy had been gained.

The other plan seemed just as much of a long shot as the first, but the man giving it seemed to sound like he knew what he was doing. Alex rubbed his chin for a moment. When Davis was done talking he finally opened his mouth. "If we go to Kaas to take out statues and start sparks of rebellion, we'll need to stay on the ground. One statue won't do anything, but fifty? Hundreds? Show the slaves there's a place to go and fight for their freedom and they'll come. Ultimately we'd be on the ground and out of the galactic scope for a hot minute," he paused nodding toward Davis. "A ground element wouldn't necessarily be needed for Korriban, theoretically- especially if we're dropping city killers. Their too big to have a ground element anywhere near those tombs."

Kaj listened to the conversation, he understood the implications that their actions could have for the rest of the galaxy and even their jedi allies. Civilians and casualties were something that was hard to avoid in war, but they could try their best to avoid such a thing. He understood the caution that the general held, but felt they needed to do this--he needed to do this.

The young rebel folded his arms, "What if we lead a ground assault against the Sith Palace on Kaas, ground force attack, broadcast a message to the galaxy that we're here and that no one should be enslaved to the likes of the Empire or any dictator." He'd pause, "We use this as a cover for a star squadron assault on Korriban, we split the Sith and Imperial Remnant forces to react to one or the other. It may give us better results."

Teran was all for the Jedi and the Alliance to get back into the war, and he was happy to give his input on the war effort, and to join into it as well. He fully believed the Alliance needed to step up and do its part in the war effort. That was the same thing that the Mandalorians seemed to think.

He listened as the group tossed around ideas for where they could strike, but didn't say anything at first. Strikes at the Sith home worlds sounded nice on paper, but the more he considered it the more issues he saw with it. It held symbolism, but for nearly suicidal risk and one big problem that he saw: it was resources that could be used to help people.

If I may, he spoke up. Meetings like this never really seemed any less uncomfortable to him. While there's symbolism in attacking the tombs, might I suggest Lucazec as strike points instead? The Empire runs mines there and the effort can go toward freeing workers. It also presents less risk for a more... practical outcome, he said. He had no idea if the other members gathered would ignore him altogether, but his arguments were logical at the very least. Attacking the Sith home worlds would mean going up against whatever was left of the Imperial fleet. A suicide mission that didn't actually directly help anyone seemed... an unnecessary risk to Teran.

Kaj turned towards the new voice, his eyes squinting as he tried to put a face to the words. I don't know this one...wait..wasn't he the one that was going to meet with my people? Kaj crossed his arms as he listened to Teran's suggestion. Lucazec...I've never heard of it, Outer Rim...? The boy pondered the man's words for a moment, his mind racing back to his experience on Mon-Cal, Alex and Davis had been there. They had taken heavy casualties to save a few workers and stop the genocide, but it still didn't seem like they had made an impact.

Freeing workers was a noble cause, "Your suggestion is appreciated sir," Kaj would say with a nod, "Whether it's freeing workers or liberating cities. It is clear, our Alliance must be more proactive, we must come out as a united front." He'd pause as he glanced towards the General (@Nommie ) "Sir, which strike operation should we lead?"

Trying to think. That was what he was trying to do as he listened to everyone's input. But it proved to be a bit difficult. Most of the people in the room are people who have not seen very much action. Eager to go do something.

The General rested his hands on the table. Weighing what everyone told him. Freeing workers? That is too much of a risk that may not produce any results at all to very little. While it is a good one. But Tycho is not sure of that will speak loudly or bold enough.

Closing his eyes for a moment when Kaj addressed him. He knew what he was about to say will mean. Straightening himself Draykon looked to all of them, "Alright. Teran, you can lead the mission to free workers from a mine of yoir choice." He will then look to Kaj, Alex, and Davis, "Forget the kriffing statues. Instead target what you think will get the message out the loudest. Do not go to Korriban. That will be a separate strike." The man will then wait for the others to oppose or agree with what he said. Each of them wants to strike at something different or do something different. Both should speak loud enough to get some sort of message out.
