The Next Chapter (Invite)

[Neutrino]

Mira stared down at the hard, plastech documents in her hands. She held a new name in her hands, a whole new identity. She supposed she could go away and live a new life, away from everyone she ever knew. She could begin a new chapter, a new story altogether. And she'd probably be safe, in hiding. And the ones she loved would probably be safer away from her.

The little Sephi rocked back and forth on her heels as she huddled in an alley between the enormous buildings of Coruscant.

But she didn't want a new life. She wanted her old life back. She wanted to be Mira, not some Renya, and she wanted to be able to see Dalang and Tyro without worrying about mysterious stalkers and assassins.

Well, she rolled her eyes, Tyro was an assassin. But he didn't count. Tyro was her friend. She chewed on her lip as she thought of the white haired man she left sleeping in that hotel room. Yes, she had left her friend, but it was for the best. Until she got this whole corporation-trying-to-kill-her-business out of the way, everything could go back to normal. Whatever normal was...

Shuffling the plastech documents, she stood and leaned against the cold building. The little Sephi shivered. The night was deep and between these buildings in the alley, it was a bit quieter than on the larger, crowded streets.

Mira wanted to be Mira, but first she had to be... her eyes dropped down to her new documents, she had to be 'Ali Inar.' Ali was ready for the next chapter to begin.

Tyro walked through a street of Coruscant and he was angry, anxious and stressed. He walked past many bars and clubs and he cursed. Why did Mira leave him like that? It didn't make sense at all. Anything could happen to her here on Coruscant. Then again, Mira knew how to deal with certain situations. Hopefully she still had that slugthrower with her. But what if those bounty hunters showed up again? Would she be able to fight them all alone?

He was searching high and low for her the past few nights. He had asked around in cantinas and clubs and he asked people on the streets and finally he got a lead. He followed it and after asking around some more he finally turned into an alley and he saw her. It took a lot of time and effort indeed, but tracking people down was part of his job, and he was good at it.

"You really thought you could leave me like?" Tyro exclaimed. "What were you thinking? I've been worried sick! And I'm a bounty hunter after all, I know how to find people! I told you before I wouldn't walk out of this, and I really won't! I will keep fighting because this concerns me too,"

He angrily crossed his arms and looked at her. After staring for a while he asked, his voice now sounding concerned and calm instead of angry: "Are you ok?"

Mira instinctively backed away from Tyro's harsh words. But her body did not tense up, readying for flight or a fight, instead she felt herself go rather soft like she was melting. She realized then how much she trusted her friend.

Then suddenly the little Sephi jumped toward him, her arms going wide to hug him. Closing her big, brown eyes, she buried her face in his chest. "I am sorry Tyro. I only want Tyro safe." But obviously Tyro didn't seem to want to let Mira just take care of him. "I am trying to take care of Tyro." She lifted wide eyes up to Tyro's face, wondering if he was still angry with her.

Tyro was a little bit surprised when Mira suddenly jumped towards him and hugged him. He blinked and then slowly put his arms around her. When she looked up to him he smiled to her and said: "It's ok... It's a rather... Weird situation we're in and it's logical we do weird things. Just don't run off like that again because I really think we need each other to get out of this alive. You want to take care of me, then stay with me, and I'll take care of you too,"

He slowly pulled away from her and took her hands in his. He sighed before continuing: "I spent the last few days and nights looking for you so I did not have much time to think of a plan. Maybe you thought ahead and already got a plan? If so, I'd like to hear it, if not, we'll figure it out together, ok?"

Tyro spoke in a friendly way and so he hoped to calm Mira down in case he had frightened her. He did not mean to, if that was the case.

As Mira listened to him talk, the little Sephi melted further into his arms and she didn't even realize it. She had really missed him. Watching his lips move, all she could think about was how the last time she had seen him, those lips had been beneath hers as he slept.

She shook her head rather violently, hair flying and beating against his arms. The Sephi's slender arms tightened around Tyro. Finally her round eyes went back to his red ones. "I do have a plan. I will live here on Coruscant with a new name, Ali Inar," she would have showed him the documents in her hands, but they remained locked behind Tyro's back. "And Ali will work for Kalar Enterprises, I already have a job. My first day is tomorrow. Dalang helped me." She nodded her head up and down. "I have to find an apartment... Tyro will live with me?" She wondered if Tyro would also infiltrate Kalar.

Tyro grinned, he thought Ali Inar was a somewhat unusual name for a Sephi like her and he probably needed some time to get used to calling her Ali.

"You did well getting a job there," Tyro said. "And... If we wanna stay together I guess we could try to find an apartment together. It would be much easier to have some kind of a base from where we operate, and where we can hide in case we need to,"

He looked up for a few moments as he thought about Kalar Enterprises. He could of course try to apply for a job there, just like Mira, but he had no idea what kind of jobs were available and what would suit him best. He knew everything about sneaking in, wearing the shadows, move undetected and go for a quick clean kill, but he didn't know anything about being a scientist or whatever those people over at Kalar were.

He looked back at Mira and asked: "What can you tell me about Kalar? What kind of corporation is it, what kind of jobs are available and most importantly, do they still need personnel?"

 

[Neutrino]

Mira shook her head, "I do not really understand what Kalar does." Her research would have been easy if she had conducted any. Kalar wasn't some secret organization, supposedly. It was just one of the many large companies that had a hand in many things: construction, technological development, etc.

Luckily for them, Kalar employed millions around the galaxy. Kalar was not just in need of big executives and genius scientists, but also relied on a huge staff of lowly security guards and janitors. Mira had gotten a job as one of the janitors. It was perfect.

She didn't care about the pay. Mira wouldn't be noticed as the little Sephi that some within Kalar were looking for. Her position was lowly, yet it allowed her access to a great number of locked rooms after hours.

"I am to only clean floors and refreshers." There was no hint of embarrassment as her soft, brown eyes seemed to search Tyro's face. The little Sephi still had made no move to release her tall Tyro from her arms. But they had better start looking for an apartment for the night if Mira was to start work in the morning.

Tyro smiled at her and said: "Well done. But..."

He took both her hands and pulled away from her hug. While still holding her hands he said: "Let's try to find a place to stay first, shall we? We can continue discussing our plans later on. A simple hotelroom will do for now I guess. While you're at your... work, tomorrow, I will see if I can find us some kind of an apartment. Is that ok with you?"

 

[Neutrino]

Mira's hands were completely limp in Tyro's. She just nodded, "As Tyro likes."

She had good feelings about the plan. They hadn't been bothered by stalkers in a little while and everything was on track. And while she was worried about Tyro's safety, she was oddly glad he came back to her. Mira was very glad. And while she knew she was fighting for her life and his, Mira was happy.

"Come," Tyro said. "I passed by a couple of hotels while I was searching for you. I can take us to one,"

He let go of Mira's hands and turned around to walk out of the alley and led them towards the hotel.

Although he was glad to that Mira was save, and that he could be with her, he was still on guard. Enemies could be anywhere, behind every corner, so he walked rather fast.

"If you don't mind I want to hurry to the hotel, for obvious reasons. And in case it's not as obvious to you, please ask me when we're save," He smiled at her and walked on.

When they reached a hotel Tyro walked over to the counter and asked for a room. He was glad they did not come across any trouble on their way. When he got a key for a room he turned to Mira and said: "Well, let's just go to our room then."

Mira followed Tyro with her plastech documents tucked tightly under one arm. The little Sephi just let the tall assassin lead her to the hotel and then finally to their room. Inside was one large bed with a desk and small refresher in the corner. There was one large window that had a wide view of the building directly next to them, blocking out any day light.

After laying her documents down on the desk, Mira decided to close the curtain on the depressing view out the window. "It is late. We should sleep." But she didn't want to, even though she had to be at the Kalar offices early in the morning.

"You're right," Tyro said and he took off his jacket, revealing his strong arms. He looked at it while holding it in both his hands and then looked around the room. "Where do I leave this thing?" He mumbled. Then he turned and walked over to the desk. He pulled the chair away from the desk and put his jacket on the chair. While he was not wearing his jacket, his magnum and knife could be seen clearly. He unclipped the holster containing the magnum from his belt and placed it carefully onto the desk, next to Mira's documents. Then he removed his knife and placed it right beside the gun. In case anyone would break in here, what seemed unlikely, Tyro could still use hand-to-hand combat and knock them senseless. He did not need weapons to be deadly. He walked over to the bed and sat down at the left edge. He removed his boots and then looked at Mira.

"Well," He said. "Looks like we're going to sleep in the same bed. Hope you don't mind," He smiled faintly and then put his boots aside. He ran a hand through his snow white hair, what was much longer now than when Mira and he first met. He pushed a lock out of his face and figured he needed to get rid of that long hair soon. It got in the way and he needed to see clearly, especially as an assassin.

"Hopefully I'll be able to find some kind of apartment tomorrow, otherwise we'll have to sleep here again tomorrow night. Now, I don't mind where I sleep, but discussing certain plans isn't always as save in hotels. You'll never know if there is anyone eavesdropping right outside the door..." He removed his socks and put them in his boots. Then he lied down on the bed and looked at Mira. He smiled and it once again occurred to him that this girl really was beautiful.

"I uh," He started. "I sleep in boxers... I... I hope you don't mind..." He said a little bit awkwardly and he scratched the back of his head while saying that.

 

[Neutrino]

Mira blinked, looking at her Tyro. She had never seen him so disarmed. "Boxers...?" She wouldn't care though.

The little Sephi swung the rifle off her back and set it on the desk as well. Soon, she had unfastened the mini slugthrowers from high up on her thighs and put them on the pile of weapons. Mira let her jacket fall to the ground while kicking off her boots and making her way to the bed Tyro sat on.

She rubbed her big brown eyes sleepily.

Tyro nodded to her and took off his pants. He would keep his shirt on, though. He lied back and stared at the ceiling. They were close to actually infiltrating Kalar Enterprises and with a good plan, they would find Leiris Synthes. Tyro really wanted to know what exactly was going on and could not wait to go in there and meet with the mysterious Leiris, one way or another.

"Good night then," Tyro said and he smiled to her. He knew he would not get much sleep that night because there was a lot on his mind. Thinking of Kalar Enterprises, of how to infiltrate it and question Leiris and other things regarding their mission. The red eyed assassin was not at peace, and not tired at all, but he would not keep Mira awake. He would keep his mouth shut for now unless she started to talk to him, she needed to sleep, he figured.

 

[Neutrino]

"It is a good night..." Mira said as she pulled back the covers on her side of the bed. She snuggled into her pillow and smiled, enjoying how much better beds were than the cold concrete beneath bridges.

"Tyro," she said after a large yawn, "I am happy." Everything around them seemed to be so dangerous and their lives seemed to be so rushed, but in this moment lying there next to him, it was peaceful. "Tyro, it feels safe for now." The girl's thin arms wet around her pillow in a hug and her large, brown eyes stayed on his face.

She would worry about tomorrow's challenges tomorrow.

Tyro woke up early in the morning, just after sunrise. He sat up and looked at Mira, still asleep. He got out of bed and yawned while he grabbed his pants from the chair and walked towards the refresher in the corner.

When he was done he put on his pants and ran a hand through his long, snow white hair. He looked over to the small desk near the bed and looked from the weapons to the papers, which Mira would use to infiltrate Kalar Enterprises. He slowly walked over to the papers and picked them up. He examined them and then put them back onto the desk.

Actually looks pretty good... Well done, Cat... He thought. Then he looked back at Mira and walked towards the edge of the bed on Mira's side and sat down. He looked at her while she was asleep and wanted to wake her up, but then decided he would let her wake up by herself. It was still very early in the morning, and she deserved to rest...

 

[Neutrino]

Mira hadn't realized she had even gone to sleep. One moment her eyes were on Tyro, the next, they were opening up. She had been awakened by movement on her side of the bed. There was Tyro sitting, looking down at her.

A slow sleepy smile spread across her face. "Hi." Her mind was still slow to think. It was a nice luxury to not be awoken by blaster fire. Slowly, the thin girl began to sat up.

 

[D.C.]

"Morning," Tyro said. He watched her as she sat up. "It's still early. If you want to, you could go back to sleep. I'll wake you up in time,"

He hoped she would not go back to sleep, because he did not want to wait, but if she would he would stay in the room to watch over her and to wake her up in time.

 

[Neutrino]

Mira shook her head sleepily. "I will get ready." The small Sephi slipped her bare legs over the edge of the bed to stand. She tried to pull her short dress down modestly, but not the least bit embarrassed. Mira hardly ever got embarrassed. She made her way over to the refresher for refreshing.

Soon she emerged wrapped in a towel with hair dripping around her shoulders. She looked steadily at Tyro while running her fingers through her wet locks. "Do I look like an Ali Inar?" She had never pretended to be someone she wasn't. Plain honesty was usually her policy, but lying wouldn't be a problem for her. She wasn't sure if she looked the part though. Although, Ali Inar would look however Mira wanted.

 

[D.C.]

"To me, you look like Mira," Tyro said. "But to them, you look like Ali Inar. They don't know you, they will believe your name is Ali Inar and there will be no problem. But, if there is a problem, call me. I believe I gave you a comlink some time ago?"

He got on his feet and walked around the bed. He sat down and grabbed his socks and boots and put them on in the correct order, and after that he at Mira.

"I suppose I'll tell the hotel guy we're staying here tomorrow night as well. Just in case I fail to find an apartment today. Don't worry though, I think I'll get it done, but just in case..." He said.

A voice inside his head screamed at him to stand up and get close to her, to gently remove the towel and seduce her, but he did not do that. As much as he wanted to, he knew it was inappropriate, although he had done it before with other women. This was different. This was Mira, not just some random girl he picked up at a bar. He scratched the back of his head and looked away from her, to the papers at the desk.

"Those papers look very real," He said. "You're going to be just fine. If you want a little privacy to dress yourself, I'll uh... Look the other way. Then, when you're ready, I suggest we go get us some breakfast and prepare for a long day,"
