Trini couldn't help but smile at IG-55 as the droid accepted the metal sphere. It was, she thought, a bearing from some piece of heavy industrial equipment; she wondered where it had come from, and why an assassin droid would keep it with him.

Dismissing the thought for now, Trini set into her meal, some form of reptavian meat she didn't recognize but which tasted excellent with the glaze it had been dipped in. She wiped her muzzle after a few minutes and spoke.

"So, I was thinking that next, we should actually go to the naval archives... my professor specified a section to look in, so if what I'm searching for exists, it shouldn't take us too long to find."

Laeonas sat idly, a vacant, glazed look pouring from his eyes. He'd been sitting like that for awhile, until a togrutan waitress came over, carrying a tray that simply had a bowl of red looking soup. "Sorry for the holdup! It's still warm, don't worry." She'd chirp, before turning around and leaving as quickly as she'd arrived. Laeo's eyes took a few seconds to look down, notice the bowl, and process what had been brought before him. When he finally did, those aquamarines of his would light up. Not even bothering to use the spoon, he'd bring the bowl of soup to his lips, and begin gulping it down immediately.

A few other patrons noticed the egregious lack of table manners from the man. Whispers would be had by customers at neighboring tables, but noone said anything. Within a minute, the bowl of soup had been completely finished, with Laeonas letting out a large belch. He was vaguely aware that the Amaran and the big metal thing next to him were having an exchange, but he paid it no mind. Laeo was content to sit back and digest.

Ofcourse, drinking an entire bowl of soup in less than a minute probably wasn't good for digestion. It was even worse if you were pumped full of various sedatives that your body viewed as poisons. It would take a minute or so before the man's stomach started to rumble. For the first time in hours, the man wore more than a blank, thoughtless expression. If they bothered paying attention, the Amaran, droid and teenager would witness the first signs of activity beneath his murky gaze. He was starting to realize something very important.

He realized that he had made a mistake.

Abruptly, Laeonas would grab his bowl and vomit into it. It was best left unsaid as to what actually came out. Suffice to say, he was coughing hard by the end of it, trying to overcome the violent episode he'd just experienced. However, actual activity was beginning to run through his head again. He could feel the burning in his throat from the bile that had been thrown up. He could feel the sudden emptiness in his stomach. None of it was pleasant, but he was awake-- alert.

It also helped that he'd expelled a large part of the dosage of drugs he'd been sedated with.

"...oh, damn it..." He'd groan, following up his words with a cough. "Ai feel bad..." He went on, clutching his lower abdomen. The Togruta woman had come back to ask for their check, but upon seeing the sight in front of her, her mouth was left agape. "O-oh, geeze! Are you alright?!" She'd question, rushing over to the raven haired human. He'd turn to her a confused expression on his face. "Nooooo..." He'd respond, not even a hint of sarcasm in his voice. She'd quickly collect the dishes, adding, "Hold on, I'll get something for all of you!" Before rushing off again.

Left sitting there, Laeonas finally noticed what the Amaran had been talking about before he'd started vomiting. Running the words back through his head, he'd nod once.
"Books are good fer learnin' stuff." He concurred, still not quite all there. Minutes later, the togruta came back with a paper slip. "This is a ten credit coupon for your next visit here. Real sorry! Would you like the check?"

Jaecar was glad he had already finished eating by the time the stranger from the busy came too. The lightsaber wielder, whatever he was, looked to be having a terrible day. But that changed, kind of, after he had the soup. The Deucalian wrinkled his nose at the nastiness of the natural reaction to poisons. At least having eaten a decent amount, Jaecar did not feel so bad about suddenly losing the rest of his apatite.

They would not have to wait long since Jaecar was happy to leave the smell of bile behind. Even the overly sanitary smell of cleaning products that followed burned his nostrils sometimes. "Naval Archives huh? Like warships?" That sounded exciting. Nalvan was covered in snow and ice with jutting mountains and rocky wastelands. It lacked large bodies of water but his tribe still told tales of great Deucalian fleets. "Did Xim ever look into like....weather control technology?" he asked, not so subtly.

IG-55 wondered for a moment what it would be like to be flesh and blood. One of the many benefits to being a droid included being immune to poisons, venoms, and toxins. He didn’t need a filter or a rebreather or oxygen or anything like that. Maybe it would prove beneficial for the fleshlings around him to lose some of their innards.

The assassin droid immediately began processing the potential outcomes of being around the group while heading to this naval archive the fox spoke of. The guards had taken his blasters and explosives to the droid’s dismay but he could still function and as machine of death if he was caught in close quarters combat. He wanted to find out where his weapons were but also calculated the benefits of an unarmed assassin droid walking through the streets.

He’d stick with this strange batch of meat-bags until he needed no further use of them to achieve his goal- which was the same as Trini’s. IG-55 needed to make sure this fox survived longer than the rest of the group. He was sure something would be guarding those ancient relics and if he needed bait, he had the other three meat-bags for just the occasion.

“Naval Archives…” IG repeated to himself. “Once we find a location from the data you seek, it would be wise to find a way- legal or illegal -to arm ourselves with our weaponry incase of further engagements with un-friendlies. It may sound brash, but I feel that we would all be far more comfortable with a blaster or blade in hand while walking through the ancient ruins in which we will find my bounty.”

Trini glanced over at Jaecar, raising an eyebrow. "Weather control? Now that I think of it, he did..." She shook her head. "Mind you, it was a different type of thing back in those days; modern weather control is much more sophisticated and a lot less obtrusive. Xim-era tech... well, I've heard of ancient systems that used humidity control machinery, cloud seeding systems... very clunky, very expensive. Hells, it's still not cheap or easy today"

The Amaran glanced over at Laeonas, looking concerned at the human's discomfort, before turning back to Jaecar.

"And as for warships, absolutely! Xim commanded one of the largest navies of his day; most of his ships were built right on this planet, in fact. Like I mentioned on the bus, Barancar was a match for planets like Fondor or Kuat, thousands of years ago."

She turned to IG-55.

"And much as I don't like to admit it... you're probably right. Somehow, I can't imagine Xim the Despot keeping the keys to his power anywhere safe."

She turned to the waitress as she returned.

"Ah, thank you! Yes, I think I'd like the check, please. We have places to be..."

END THREAD.
