The Kilij family were originally of the planet Serenno. Their name means sword in an ancient Serennian dialect, so given because they were accomplished warrior knights that served the Counts of Serenno. Over many centuries, perhaps millennia, the Kilij family migrated to the power centers of the core worlds and ascended to the highest precipices of civil service. Members of the Kilij family commanded armies, led fleets and administered government bureaucracies. After many generations of glory, a powerful Senator named Alfred Kilij stood as the last son of the Kilij and happened to be infertile.

In the middle of his political career, the Jedi Order asked him to look after a failed Jedi youngling. The former youngling, known only as Bruce, was a human orphan. He was a smart kid, with a mind for words and learning but not so much the force. He failed to find a lightsaber crystal during "the Gathering" because he would not rely on the force and subsequently no master would take him under their wing as a Padawan learner. So it came to pass that the young man left the Jedi Order, became a Senatorial page and Alfred took the lad under his wing. The last son of the Kilij cared for Bruce and taught him everything he knew, eventually choosing to adopt him.

The Kilij family might not live on biologically, but worthy successors would bear the name.

Senator Bruce Kilij

Introduction

“I come before you today with a heavy heart. The Jedi who have served our Republic for many generations have abandoned us. They seek religious vengeance to the exclusion of all else and in turn have doom our civilians and indeed our very Republic, leaving us to the clutches of the Sith. Ladies and gentlemen, we are now alone. We can no longer use the Jedi as a crutch. We must act decisively, we must fund comprehensive military reform! We must lean on each other and stand on our own! We must have the strength to defend our children and ensure the survival of our Republic!” - Senator Kilij addressing the Senate recently

Senator Bruce Kilij is a lifelong civil servant having been raised in the Jedi Temple, before becoming a Senatorial page. During his time in the Senate, Senator Kilij has written and sponsored historically important legislation, prevented wars and started them. His actions are contained in the annals of history, students in universities study his political strategy, Senatorial candidates seek his endorsement, freshmen senators and first time staffers are warned of him and tremble in his wake, his colleagues in the Senate nervously seek his wisdom, heads of state and religious leaders regularly visit him and monied interests spend untold fortunes courting his vote. He is not just a Senator, in the Senate and indeed in the Republic, he is a power broker. As his long and storied career begins reaching its close, the one thing that is clearest to those who know him is that the end is not yet written and his greatest achievements are not behind him.

Character Information

APPEARANCE: Bruce stands a half head taller than most crowds; his hair is white and his skin is wrinkled but his build is of a man who once in decent shape but has since succumbed to the ravages of time. He stands tall and straight with only the barest hint of being hunched over, imposing even for an old man. He tends to scowl, the term “resting bitch face” has been used to describe him more than once.

PERSONALITY: Bruce's gaze is piercing, his bearing is regal, and his voice is a rich baritone. His words are deliberate and his inflection is measured. His vocabulary is extensive and his words can be downright poetic. There is something about his presence that is both frightening and reassuring. His speeches on the senate floor are nearly hypnotic. He rarely seems happy or sad, but to those he favors he is loyal, and to those he disfavors, he often brings sorrow.

GOALS: Bruce’s original goal was to amass power and in that pursuit he has spent a lifetime. The power he sought and achieved is subtle but very real. With that power achieved he seeks to pass it down to worthy successors, and create a lasting legacy. He muses that his name will live on in the imaginations of those who love him and burn itself into the memories of those who hate him. He might or might not be penning his memoirs.

STRENGTHS:

Contacts
Bruce has spent a lifetime making contacts in every part of the galaxy on every level of society. It isn’t just Senators, CEO’s and Generals (many of whom reached their lofty positions through his help) but he also courts but also pages, mailroom clerks and career privates (many wishing to receive that same kind of help). His network of contacts is extensive and amounts to having eyes and ears all across the galaxy.

Eloquent
Some of the speeches Bruce has given on the floor of the Senate will never be forgotten. His approach is extemporaneous, his delivery is poetic, his tone is appropriate and all of these things combine to make the speeches both convincing and memorable. His way with words make people desperately want to believe the things he says and forget about whatever controversy he may be involved in outside of the Senate.

Manipulation
Bruce always carefully plots and plans his political strategy, he is very hard to predict and no one can entrap him by waiting for him to make a mistake. Bruce can tell a lie as easily as he can the truth. He instinctively senses what motivates people, what they want and then uses that information to bend them to his will. He sometimes wonders if this intuition is a latent effect of being a force sensitive that was raised in the Jedi temple,

Leverage
Many of the contacts Bruce has from around the galaxy either owe him favors for past actions or are people he holds information over to extort them into serving his will. He very carefully uses this leverage to turn his galaxy wide contacts into spies and agents when it suits his agenda to do so. He views favors and extortion as a form of currency to be invested in and allowed to grow before being spent to the greatest effect.

Research
Many senators hit the floor of the senate with partisan talking points, backed by dull words and empty promises. Bruce on the other hand reads and studies. He spends hours reading about current events, his rivals, legislation due to come before the senate, particulars relating to that legislation, Republic Law and other such details. His speeches are often laced with intriguing detail and his stinging rebuttals tend to be very specific.

WEAKNESSES:

Anachronistic
Bruce’s appetites and vernacular come from his youth, a long time ago, making him increasingly unrelatable to younger voters. He also lacks understanding of some modern technology.

Career Man
He had a wife and two sons, as well as multiple grandchildren. But they are virtual strangers to him, after having spent his whole life chasing success and the power that comes with it.

Corrupt
Bruce absolutely has a price, but if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it. He tends to trade in favors, but trading favors back and forth can lead you pretty far down the rabbit's hole.

Frail
Bruce is quite old now and has led a whirlwind life, where health and fitness were not his priorities. As a result he now walks with a cane, lacks balance, tires often and is easily injured.

Timid
Even as a youngling Bruce was pacifistic. Not doctile, he is certainly assertive but when it came to actually fighting he was rather helpless. It scared him and he would freeze instead of respond.

CAPT John Kilij

Introduction

Captain John Kilij of the Republic Navy is son of one of the most powerful Senators in the Republic and also happens to be a former Jedi Padawan who was raised in the Jedi Temple of Coruscant. He has perhaps not made as much of an impact upon the Navy as his powerful namesake has in the Senate, but he was a well respected Captain with many contacts and allies in the Republic Navy, Army and Government. After a long and honorable career as a sailor he is now making his way into the business world, using his skills in command, piloting and logistics to build a strong and innovative system of shipping. Shipping reliable enough to reach its destination amidst a great war.

Character Information

APPEARANCE: John’s facial hair is always carefully trimmed and his power suits are immaculately tailored. He has the build of a runner or a swimmer, fit but not bulging with muscles.


PERSONALITY: John often seems younger than his many years because of his positive attitude and sunny disposition, which often inspires others to be more relaxed and happy with him as their leader. That being said, those who trespass him are often caught off guard with the fury of his indignation. Those instances are legendary and have spawned cautionary tales from among his subordinates.


GOALS: John could care less about building a dynasty, but he also acknowledges that he has a role to play in his father’s schemes. He primarily wants want most common people want: to live comfortably, to be respected and to find love and fun where and when he can.

MAJ Terry Kilij

NAME Major Terry Kilij, Boarder Alliance Militia AGE 27 FACTION Boarder Alliance - Major​

Introduction

“With this message I resign from the Jedi Order. The Orders decision to let the outer rim burn while they pursue a war of vengeance, makes continuing in this organization unconscionable for me. The Jedi are empowered to serve the Republic and protect its citizens, our primary purpose was never just to kill the the enemy. I am dedicating my life to protecting the citizens of Botajef. Terry Kilij who is better known to most as Tee Kay is formerly a Jedi Knight of some renown. He is grandson of Senator Kilij and nephew of John Kilij of the Czerka Corporation. He doesn’t have a body of work as comprehensive as his uncle; he is not nearly as accomplished as his grandfather and he doesn’t have nearly as many contacts within the government or private sector. But he is powerful; some believed him to be a future Jedi Master before he left the order in order to take up rank in the Boarder Alliance Militia.
