[This is start of my character, new to this forum ect so Ill apologise if I do anything wrong. I decided to base the choices and direction he goes in on his interactions with others, so feel free for anyone to get involved and try coaxing him to your faction :) ]
Kael sat up in his bed and looked around the room, there was rows of beds full of other orphans just like him, but most of them were in a deep sleep, the rest were moving around restlessly or just lay there with their eyes shut too frightened of being caught awake. It was night time but there was still a dim orange glow coming through the window next to his bed due to the city lights, this light seemed to be in a stalemate battle with the green glow of the night light at the other end of the room.
Reaching under his bed, he grabbed a backpack he had already packed, inside was some money from a board game; a packet of sweets, a sealed cup of pop, a blanket and his teddy. Placing it up on his back he stood up on his bed facing the window, he had been planning this for a whole day, it seemed like a lifetime to him, today was the day he would leave and live free. Grabbing a plastic spoon from his belt, he carefully jammed it into the side of the window controls, it was faulty so it didn't take long for him to cause it to short circuit and unlock the window.
Taking once last look around to make sure no grown ups, or giants as a few kids at the orphans called them, were there before he swung his leg up and climbed out of the room onto the street outside. As soon as he landed he ran as fast as he could taking random turns, not caring where he went. After going what he was sure was a gazillion miles he stopped and sat down leaning on a wall in a deserted side street just off from the main street. Opening his bag he grabbed his pack of sweets and began to munch on them, after all it was time for a snack on his long journey.
