((OOC: This is Fyre @TheWonderousBat . Can you help NPC the wait-staff and interact with fellow Senators? This is kinda your baby after all. I'm just participating as a Senator. ))

((Also, the intent of this thread is purely social. Although it is open, please only post here if you have a good and believable reason. This is not exclusive to Senators, but obviously a Sith would not be mixing with Senators within a private room in this Casino. But please, if you have an itch to participate in rp's within this setting, please see this thread's main interaction thread here. For all intents and purposes, this thread is DEATH DISABLED unless noted otherwise by all parties involved.))

Although Naboo was not officially a part of the Republic, it was a marquee destination for the social elite: from trillionare playboys, stereotypical socialites (who didn't have any apparent skill, or reason for having the money they so lavishly expended), to those in positions of power, such as Senators of the Republic. Although this wasn't his home planet, Gregory had long hoped to gather fellow Senators together so as to network and form professional ties with others. That was how the Senate worked really, namely how much influence someone could wield. How much political clout someone could throw around.

With this desire hanging in his mind for several months, he finally contacted the proprietor of this brand new resort and casino, and shelled out the funds from his own private fortune (a modest fortune by the way, from his past as a lawyer.) And there he stood, looking out over the casino floor from the private event room he had booked. It was a large banquet room, easily able to accommodate two hundred or so individuals. And Gregory was diligent about sending out invitations to those who would wish to attend, namely the new senator of Corellia, the Senators from Empress Teta, Coruscant, Hosnian Prime, and many others. He also took it upon himself to invite a few others who would likely wish to have Senators as an audience, albeit as long as they kept things civil and didn't perturb the ones in attendance. The Grand Oasis was more than accommodating in providing 'attendants' at the door to ensure no one was a disturbance during the event.

Indeed, as he stood there, watching out of the one way glass of the giant hall overlooking the casino, he certainly felt out of place. Yes, he was a Senator, but this type of lifestyle of indulgence and fancy dinners... he never grew accustomed to it. He had money, but not nearly as much as others who lived this way every day. He was more at home within the Senate Rotunda, or within a courtroom. Not fancy dinner halls. No matter how much money he made as a lawyer prior to his tenure as Senator, and how much money he was allotted as Senator, he still enjoyed the simple tastes he grew up with. The ones he was raised with from infancy. But this was a necessary evil in his career as a Senator, of which he had served for a few years now.

He smoothed over his jacket and adjusted his tie as he lost himself in the view of the casino floor, waiting for his guests to arrive.

Naboo. The planet was known to Doghus. He had questioned his assistant, Miron, who was with him as usual, about the place.
Doghus had little taste of Naboo, but it reminded him of Alderaan in a way, with the royal outlook and even a Queen. He was not sure why the Senator of Chandrila held a party out here, so far from the capital. Doghus stood startled at first at the notice that Naboo wasn't even a Republic world. Nevertheless Doghus knew that the lavish planet attracted all sort of persons, from royalty from offworld, to extravagants simply wishing to spend all their holiday money.

The club that Gregory chose, was a...different taste, to say the least. Although it had a reputation of numerous bar fights, it could fit a senator just fine. Gregory, the name filled Doghus with renewed excitement. He had seen the man occasionally, mostly during Senate proceedings, but had not yet spoken to a further extent with the man. Fellow colleague, better.

And as Doghus' shuttle descended at the Theed Spaceport, Miron kindly got Doghus out of his train of thought. " Sir, we have landed on Naboo. We must now proceed onto reaching The Grand Oasis." Miron said. Doghus smiled at the renewed loyalty of his assistant. " My dearest Miron, what would I do without you?" Doghus said and laughed. Miron looked at his master, and simply smiled. After that, they together left the shuttle. He told the guards, and with them the pilot, to wait for his call to get him off. Until that time, Doghus said, they were dismissed, save for one who was ordered to guard the ship.

Doghus was in luck that the Casino, or Resort, was close to the spaceport he left of. As he entered the stage, he was stopped by a couple of bouncers who needed to take their weapons. As usual, Miron had kept around a stun baton, in case of danger to Senator Dei. After a short search, Doghus and Miron were let through, onto the banquet hall Gregory had prepared for them. As Doghus entered, he saw he was one of the first, alongside several personal relations to the Senator. As the hall was not filled at the moment, Doghus quickly saw Senator Rhone at the long end of the room, and walked towards him.

As he reached Gregory, he greeted his fellow Senator with a slight headbow, as did Miron a few seconds later. Doghus then proceeded and said: " Greetings to you, Senator Rhone. I wish you a good evening. I must say, you have taken a good venue to spot ourselves tonight. May this evening proceed without any bad things. Oh by the way, this is my assistant Miron. And at last, my wife sends you best wishes. Now Senator, how does your evening fare?" Doghus always prided himself for his silver tongue, a gift that was perfected during his days as ambassador. However, the man standing in front of him was of interestingly younger age. Ooh, the youth of today. They come so far nowadays. I remember we used to work for this position. Doghus however, had to agree that his judgement was being to rash and fast. From his encounters of Gregory in the Senate, he had struck him as a good man. One who was sickened of the Republic inaction.

But Rhone was not hotheaded, Doghus knew. The right out actions of the Sith could not be unseen, but the Border Alliance undermined the whole process. Gregory, Doghus thought, could just become my greatest ally tonight.

As Gregory lost himself in his own thoughts, a semi-familiar voice could be heard from behind him. When the Senator from Chandrila turned to see who it was, he was actually delighted to see the Senator from Balmorra. Although he didn't know the man well, Gregory had set it in his mind thus far that he would make the best impression on other Senators as best he could. And from what little he knew of Doghus, the man was a lifelong diplomat. One could even say, a member of the old guard. Gregory was no stranger to the notion of having to prove himself to others. That is how he got to the station he currently presided within.

When given the chance, Gregory liked to demonstrate his differences from others of his age and station. He was not born to this station, but he worked for it. Clawed his way to the top, but what is more, without burying others or resorting to blackmail in order to do it. He hoped he could win over several of the others the same way he won the people of Chandrila over, but therein presented the problem. The Republic was very, very diverse. It was a strength, but also a hindrance. People had different values depending on which rim you lived on or which arm you called home. He'd like to think that Doghus had similar principles that he himself had. Hopefully he was correct, but only more time and interaction could tell...

He strode over to the Senator from Balmorra and extended his hand in greeting, shaking the man's hand as he accepted his introduction.

"The pleasure is all mine Senator. I am delighted to see that you could attend. Thus far, my night is proceeding as one would expect: merely waiting for those of your stature to arrive. At least now I can divert myself in conversation with an engaging individual."

"Tell me sir, how fairs the people of Balmorra? This is not the most peaceful time we live in."

As Doghus shook Gregory's hand and listened to his reply, he thought to himself that his first assumptions were a bit to rash. The Senator was indeed as well-versed as Doghus, a trait he much admired. And he was polite, which Doghus knew was in short supply nowadays. As Gregory ended his reply, Doghus laughed, and answered: " Oh no, Senator. These are indeed dark times, with much violence. However, my people fare well, regarding the current circumstances. As I am sure are yours." Doghus smiled again as he finished his remark.

Although it was a time of luxurious feasting tonight, Doghus could not neglect the need to talk important matters with this man. Not while he still could. " I am sorry to discuss this here, nut I can't help but ask about your stance about the chancellor's resignation. It sure came as a shock to me, as she has served our Senate well for a long time. And then there's this whole deal with the Senator of Corellia. I for one am glad to see him gone. A warmonger and an opportunist, that one." Doghus waited a short time before continuing, allowing Gregory to take it all in.

" And we haven't even considered the whole Border Alliance. This standing army is undermining the whole process for the Republic pursuits of peace. But we cannot deny their beliefs: the Sith must be stopped. Whether we must accept the help and work of the Jedi, however, is an whole other matter. Anyway, I am curious to where stand." Doghus concluded. I hope it is the good side, Doghus thought. He hoped this whole waterfall of rhetoric wouldn't scare the Senator, but Doghus knew he had to speak his mind. The only hope for Doghus, now, was that Gregory was in a sort of similar interest to his duty to the Republic.

One thing that Doghus couldn't help to notice was that his assistant had wandered of at Doghus' speech, to speak with the cooking staff. Of Course, Miron wouldn't ignore a chance to get new and exotic recipes here, Doghus thought. And as the two stood there, it became obvious to the other guests that this was a night for politics, and a night for good food and conversation.

Doghus, for one, would use the time well to speak with as much of his fellow colleagues as possible tonight. After all, the most honest Senator was one at ease...

Indicative of the patience and grace beyond his years (though not far beyond as his age slowly caught up with his temperment), Gregory calmly and diligently listened to the Senator from Balmorra as he voiced his concerns. Although he didn't hear anything he aggressively disagreed with, it was always important to give credence to a fellow senator's views. It helped that Gregory and Doghus seemed to have similar views on the subjects at hand however.

"Indeed it was quite unexpected when the Chancellor saw fit to resign. I don't think anyone felt it necessary for her part, as it seemed she had her responsibilities well in hand. But I cannot even begin to imagine the grief she must be going through. One can only stay strong for so long..."

Before touching on the other subjects mentioned by Senator Dei, Gregory took a few moments to collect his thoughts and how to honestly present them.

"Please Senator, don't apologize for speaking your mind. I wouldn't dream of inviting my fellow Senators without making time to discuss the current state of affairs. If we don't, then we will only contribute to the inaction the Senate has suffered through already. With regard to Senator Krass, I hate to speak ill of the dead, but I tend to agree with you. Based on what I know, he wasn't fit to serve in the capacity of Senator. Still a tragedy he had to be murdered in order to be removed from office though. I do hope the killer is found soon, and dealt with decisively."

"But onward to less saddening but equally serious matters, as you mentioned. Although I can see your point that the existence of the Border Alliance severely cripples any chance for peace, their very existence seems to speak to the actual state of affairs, whether the Brotherhood admit it or not. Namely that they are not so keen for peace themselves. Why else would they expand and forcibly annex neutral worlds? If I may speak bluntly Senator, it seems an awful lot like smoke rising from a freshly lit fire. We only have so long to prepare for what may come next."
Gregory's tone was even and quite calm. He understood that there were likely still many Senators who didn't agree exactly with his point of view, namely a few core world senators, or those from worlds that were largely untouched by war. But his view still had to be voiced.

"At this stage, my view is we should hope for the best but prepare for the worst. We should validate the fears the worlds belonging to the Border Alliance have expressed and stand alongside them: united and strong. Sometimes the best way to sue for peace is to negotiate from a position of strength, otherwise the Sith, who have demonstrated themselves to respect only strength, may see the Republic as ripe for the taking. I'm sure we all remember the effects the last war had on our great Republic. If we aren't careful, we may not be so prepared to face another."

Naboo, to Marzipan Kara, was a beautiful planet. The lush areas of grassy hills or swampy lakes filled him with wonder. As he look from his transport ship at the grassy hills ending and then a city coming into view, he realized that that's where he will be going for a fancy dinner. He sighed. This togruta started off living on Shili, a savannah planet with cities, now, he is heading towards a casino on a water planet. A hand grabs his shoulder. Looking behind him, it's his daughter.
"Hey, Dad." Marzipan jumps. Penne's voice scared him. He turns
around, and looks at Penne.
"Honey, why are you here?" Penne chuckles. She then looks back at Marzipan.
"The Border Alliance assigned me to come with you in case something happens. Not only that, but I am the right age to try gambling." Marzipan looks at Penne with a disappointed look.
"Are you... Kidding me? We are living on a small amount of credits! You make a couple of credits, right? You can spend money on that. If anyone asks 'hey, aren't you the senator of Shili's daughter?' look at them and say no. Now... we are getting close. Treat the other senators with respect, please." Marzipan sighs, and turns back to the window.
After a while, they landed. Penne exited first, and then Marzipan left the ship too. Marzipan walked into the casino, looking around. Penne chuckled, and ran off. He couldn't even say goodbye before she disappeared into the sea of lights and slot machines. As Marzipan goes to the room where all the other senators are. He sees Gregory and bows.
"Thank you so much for the dinner. I don't think we've met, I am Marzipan, the senator of Shili. " Marzipan smiles.

Saracbecca felt more uncomfortable than ever. The lavish setting and the massive expenditures made her blood boil. A gambling hall was no place for any senator. The hologram it would project if reports got wind of this event would not be pretty. Saracbecca could see the headlines now, "Senators Gambling with their Worlds" "Booze, Bookies, and Senate Bills" "Senate's finest found." Saracbecca shook her head to clear her thoughts. She may not like it, but this is how these people operated. If she wanted what was best for Kashyyyk she would have to suck it up and learn to play their game. She made a mental note to unclench her fists and jaw. The lift doors opened and she entered the casino. She made her way to the private room reserved for the Senate members and their esteemed guests. Saracbecca lamented that they hadn't at least named a charity that the nights winnings would be donated to.

She found the room easily enough and was stopped by the security guards at the door. The pulled their blasters on her and commanded her to stop. She raised her arms above her head and growled lowly. She'd been so focused on the venue, she'd forgotten about her translator droid. It was a small orb about the size of a thermal detonator and had been painted to mimic a detonator's appearance. It had proved useful enough in dealing with lowlifes who didn't know how to spot the difference even from up close. She'd left it strapped to her chest and didn't declare it at the front desk.

"It's okay. It's just a translator." Saracbecca rummbled and the droid on her chest translated her words into Basic. The guards lowered their weapons but eyed her suspiciously and refused to open the doors. "I'm Senator Saracbecca of Kashyyyk and if you don't open these doors...well I don't need a detonator to rip you into a million pieces!"

Tie knotted. Suit jacket on. Dress pants free of unnatural creases. Dolor Morbus had been rather surprised, but none too upset when an invitation to a banquet on Naboo made it's way from the Chandrilin senator Gregory Rhone. Despite how pleased he was to finally interact with some senators, for they often provided the best of clients in his research, he hesitated to step off of his private shuttle near The Grand Oasis. After all, the greatest downfall of the rather young man's life had occurred on, and incurred wrath from, the very planet this host represented! More than that, Rhone had been the District Attorney of Chandrila just around the time of Morbus and his father's attempted arrest.... It was very possible that the man had ordered the arrest himself.

So it was with great trepidation the doctor removed his mask and stepped out into the open near the resort. Morbus would not have come had he not weighed the risks and benefits clearly, and he had come to the conclusion that no matter his past, the opportunity to speak to and influence high profile senators had been too great to ignore... His most optimistic idea was that of securing a new client, perhaps even a legitimate one interested in the possible defenses against biowarfare. Whatever the potential, he felt that seeing as Rhone had he himself told somebody to invite Morbus, the likelihood he was going to be discovered as the fleeing scientist those years ago was very low.

So, still calculating the risk and reward factors, the doctor walked through the main front doors of the resort, and was greeted with a rather interesting sight. In front of the door leading to the banquet room, a rather large wookie, whom he assumed was Senator Saracbecca, was being stopped by the two security guards.
Oh joy, this could be interesting... Easing his way closer to the scene, he could hear the last few words of the Senator, and he something involving 'ripping into a million pieces.' With a trademark smirk, Morbus stepped practically next to the Senator, intent on getting into the main party before it dissolved into drunken rambling.

With a glance sideways, and finally a stare at the two guards, Morbus dropped his voice lower and spoke to the two, hoping to... persuade them to allow entry.
"The good Senator is not lying, my dear fellows. A wookie's muscle mass is very high, high enough for her to quite easily make her.... promise, a reality. Unless you'd like to be responsible for the cancellation of a large portion of the Senate's fun, I implore you to move. Besides the fact you are blocking my way."

Gregory smiled as Marzipan introduced himself, and the Senator from Chandrila eagerly shook the man's hand before saying politely: "The pleasure is all mine Senator. Please, enjoy yourself." It wasn't until Greg saw the faces of some of the guests entering the private room that he realized some were likely of the impression they would be gambling. Gregory was by no means a gambler, and didn't wish to convey the reputation. Surely upon entering and the people seeing there were no gaming stations within the private room, they would likely realize any preconceived notions to the contrary were wrong. The Grand Oasis was known for more than simply gambling after all. It was a luxuriant resort that people went to to also relax and take in the sights. 'If I ever book here again, I'll need to get the room overlooking the waterfall...' Gregory intoned with a semi perturbed disposition.

It didn't help matters when he overheard a commotion from the other side of the entrance to the private room. Gregory walked over to the entrance after greeting a few more guests to see the guards berating a Wookiee, accompanied by another... sentient in a suit and tie. Taking the situation in as quickly as he could, the Senator barked at the guardsmen:
"Let the Senator from Kashyyyk into the room this instant. Otherwise I'll have you both reprimanded and disciplined accordingly." His tone was firm and brokered no nonsense. Without hesitation the guards stepped aside and didn't give the pair any more trouble. With a look of genuine sorrow over the faux paux committed by the guards, Gregory extended his hand in greeting to the Wookiee Senator. "I sincerely apologize for the ignorance of these guards. Senator Saracbecca I presume?"

A solitary Nimbus Courier Vessel streaked through the sky high above the beautiful, lush planet of Naboo. Dr. Austin Wolfe peered out of the cockpit through the wisps of clouds to the green flora and cities below, sighing in contentment as they whizzed past.

For the first time in more than three decades, he was home.

Were his parents still living in that cozy townhouse outside the Theed Palace? Were his older brother and sisters making their fortunes here, or somewhere else in the Galaxy? Was the crooked tree Austin's family used to climb up and swing off of still stretching its old boughs, or was it a cabinet in someone's home? Ice began forming slowly along the tips of his ship's wings, reflecting the last rays of the sun in a dazzling display of colour and light. Though the inside of the cockpit was alight in vibrant orange and yellows, a flashing green warning outshone them all as it signaled that the doctor was nearing his destination for the evening. Austin adjusted his trajectory, flying with a practiced hand as the Grand Oasis Resort rose from a tiny speck on the horizon to the magnificent architectural wonder that the casino was.

line-divider.png
Austin wore a sharp, rich crimson suit for the occasion. Though not a cheap-looking one, it was far from expensive. He had purchased it from one of the local tailors in the Central District on the Void, always looking to contribute and give back to the people he represented so dutifully.

Passing through the security checkpoint with ease, he provided the required invitation and stepped into the wondrous atmosphere of the Grand Oasis. The private room that had been generously rented by the Senator of Chandrila was indeed smaller than the grand hall, but still spacious of its own accord.

Austin strode through the room, spying the man of the night - Gregory Rhone. However, the poor man was already overwhelmed with other Senators of varying planets. Deciding to leave him be until he was more available, the doctor took a glass of champagne also provided and took a conservative sip of the delicious beverage. The night was young, and much would be discussed tonight by all parties.

Saracbecca looked at the man who appeared next to her. He seemed to be vouching for her. She cocked her head sideways and gave out a grumble and a nod to what the man what saying, though she was unfamiliar with who he was. It was only a split second later that the door whipped open and the Senator from Chandrilla was staring at Saracbecca. The guards immediately lowered their weapons and stepped aside to let Saracbecca enter the room. She bowed low to Gregory of Chandrilla and walked through the room giving the guards a menacing growl as she passed.

"Please forgive me Senator. I've had a busy day and simply forgot about my translator." She pointed to the device that looked so similar to a thermal detonator. "You've no idea how many times this little gadget has gotten me out of trouble."

Saracbecca paused for a moment.

"And you've no idea how many times I've nearly blown off my own arm after picking up a detonator I thought was my translator." She chuckled lowly at her joke. "Now, I'm wondering if you might introduce me to some of my co-workers. I've not met many of the other senators yet."

(All, please keep in mind that in this rp, Gregory is not chancellor yet. This is meant to announce his candidacy, since this was started prior to my acceptance as afl. Kindly post accordingly.)

A red woman, around two decades old, with deep red, voluptuous hair stared back at Charon from the brass facades that clung to the inside of the building. She recognized the former chancellor, yet others barely offered her a glance as they passed her by, going as far as to cover their noses as they did so. Naboo was a beautiful place, but the humans that lived there were almost blind to the species-centric state of their homeworld. Everything reeked of humanity, to a certain extent, and all traces of the original native population were relegated to the disease filled swamps of the planet. While being a Zeltron had its benefits, the red skin, two livers, pheromones, and all the stereotypes behind it hung over her like a shroud. The core belonged to the people, but the definition of "people" remained flimsy at best, inside a human controlled Republic and out.

The polite smile Charon had plastered on her face for most of the day quickly drooped as she turned the corner, arriving at yet another Gala hosted by the Human majority of the senate. A wookie senator, casually held by gunpoint at the door, was the first scene to great her as she approached. The guards would recognize her and let her pass without question, but the fur rug before her was an entirely different story. Every wookie she had ever known had been kind, and honest, which made her surprised that they had not been invaded and torn to shreds years ago. Their fur was prized, even by those who would balk at the idea of wearing any other sentient's skin as a status symbol. If she had offered either of the guards a wookie-fur lined jacket, they would have accepted it graciously.

That attitude had been what she had strove to fight while in the senate, but the fact that she looked like a sunburnt human left her point moot. People might be careful around her, but most were either too attracted or intrigued to care about the danger of alien pheromones and manipulation. Compared to what the wookie before her likely dealt with on a daily basis, her own personal struggle as a non-human was rather laughable. That thought deepened her frown, but a smile quickly replaced it as Gregory Rhone came to the rescue. He was her target for the night, and she had very grand plans for him.

Charon had relinquished the title of Chancellor because she had felt the drain of politics, of being a weak figure head. The man before her, however, would fit that role nicely. Like many politicians, if she helped him achieve that role, surely a more exciting position would be waiting for her soon after. She hoped that Gregory had not actually wasted time attending some form of higher education. It didn't take an educated man to understand the two central tenants of politics, favors and money. The Zeltron suspecred Gregory was a man who could not be bought off, at least easily, and a direct step from young senator to Chancellor was a sure fire way to rocket her straight up into a committee.

"Senator Rhone, a Pleasure." Charon spoke as she watched the guards lower their weapons. Gregory seemed to fit the bill of "champion of the people", and perhaps his definition of people was far more broad than the other humans of the senate. However, her eyes were far from appraising as the gave the man before him a long once-over. There was hunger in her stare, that much was obvious. According to the senate rumor mill, Gregory was interested in making the step to Chancellor all by himself, and soon. He hadn't asked for her assistance, but she would force it down his throat if he didn't accept it as easily as she was willing to offer it.

Anaxes was far flung from the worlds of the mid-rim, such as 'Naboo', and so it was uncommon for the haughty nobility of the Core World to head out this far to speak to these Non-Republic people. Voren however, only recently having ascended to the position of Senator, and ever more recently to the position of Commander of the Border Alliance, had made an exception from the traditions of his people. Touching down in the Diplomatic Shuttle, flanked as it was by security vessels from the Alliance and Anaxes itself, Voren stepped out with haste, adorned in a Black Robe, with a stripe of blue to symbolize his rank within the Senate.

It would be noticeably that only Droids got off his own vessel, for the man had recently developed a penchant for surrounding himself with robitic staff - habitually something some found rather odd. Ignoring the media, he considered having them moved on, before dismissing the idea and heading into the Gala. Spying Gregory and Charon as he entered, he nodded politly, aware (as they would be) of what was planned for this evening, of what plans the so called 'Triad' had in place.

Tactfully walking to another young guest, he handed him a drink (@Vosrik) before introducing himself ''Dr. Wolfe, from our associates at the Void yes?'' he inquired, no doubt catching the man off guard with his seemingly magical knowledge of the mans name (guest lists are often most informative) as he extended a hand in greeting.

If there was one thing Morbus despised, it was stupidity. Unfortunately for him, both of these guards seemed to have quite the stockpile of it. It was rather obvious that the wookie was the senator, what kind of self-respecting terrorist would waltz in with a thermal detonator literally strapped to their chest? It made no logical sense, and then the lack of response other than a blank stare when Saracbecca made it QUITE clear what would happen if they refused to move. Honestly, the doctor would have loved nothing more than to watch their limbs be torn off.

Luckily for the party that didn't happen, with the timely intervention of Senator Rhone, the man of the hour. Dolor Morbus felt his eyes quickly narrow as he appeared, and he made a conscious effort to look as natural as possible... Well, as possible as he could, anyways. Morbus made up his mind to allow the newly arriving senators to mingle, and most importantly to have a few drinks, before he really began introducing himself.

Glancing around before moving to walk into the main room, Dolor saw a Zeltron. Zeltron rather intrigued him, their method of survival and diplomacy using pheromones rather intrigued him. This one especially intrigued him. There were not many Zeltron in the Senate, and he was willing to bet that this was the former Chancellor. The circumstances surrounding her resignation were the subject of much debate, debate that Morbus couldn't care less to follow. He was not here for the drama of the Senate.

As he moved into the main room Morbus stopped for a moment to examine his surroundings. He had decided to wait to speak with Senator Rhone, seeing as he had been apprehended by several people wishing to speak with him already. With this in mind, he made the decision to forgo a drink, instead looking for a conversation partner to occupy his time.

Farther into the room, Morbus spied a man in a red colored suit, and supposed that he would do for now. Slowly weaving his way through the room, Morbus eventually made his way next to where the man was standing. Clearing his throat and putting on as best a smile he could manage without it turning into a smirk, he spoke up to introduce himself.
"Good evening. My name is Doctor Dolor Morbus. I would ask, if you don't mind, whether you are a senator or a man of enough importance you were invited?"

After liberating the wookiee from his antagonists, namely the impulsive guards, Gregory let out a slow chortle at the Wookiee's remarks about her translator. "Oh please Senator, as long as you forgive me by extension of those guards, I will surely forgive you for forgetting about your translator."

Upon mention of introducing Saracbecca to her fellow Senators, Gregory nodded his agreement in accepting the charge. Just when he took further notice of the mysterious individual that seemingly was accompanying the Wookiee (@Dr. Dolor Morbus ), none other than Charon Chanzot graced the group with her presence. As always, she carried herself with an elegance and grace indicative of her race. He hardly regarded himself as a weakminded man, easily influenced by the charms of women (even ones unaided by natural pheromones), but he had to admit something about the former Chancellor was rather... engaging.

Clearing his throat slightly, he extended his hand out of courtesy to the woman and gently shook it, saying politely:
"The pleasure is all mine, ma'am. I cannot begin to express how pleased I am you could attend our dinner."

After releasing her hand, he grasped the ring on his wedding finger and played with it innocently, although the message was clear. Gregory had been a happily married man for over a decade. And one thing he had learned over the years in maintaining his commitment was by reinforcing at any juncture he could. That's why he had pictures of his family in his office: A ring he constantly messed with to remember the woman he fell in love with: the woman who was the mother of his children. "I was about to introduce Senator Saracbecca to some of our peers. I can't think of anyone better to start her off in meeting."

Turning to his wookiee compatriot, he added: "I'm sure you are acquainted with Senator Chanzot, yes?"

Austin, having only been seriously acquainted with Gregory, was taken quite by surprise when approached and spoken to by name. Blinking a couple times, he smiled and returned the handshake.

"Why yes, that would be me. Forgive me, I'm not terribly knowledgeable of the many Senators of the Republic. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking to?"

Shortly thereafter, Austin was again approached by another guest. "Ah, it is good to see another doctor tonight! I am neither a Senator or a man of importance among the Republic, but I am rather a Civilian Leader of the Void and representative of the people to the Accord. Dr. Wolfe is my name, by the way. My curiosity begs that I ask, what might you be a doctor of?"

It seems tonight would be more profitable for the Void than Austin initially suspected. Perhaps he could speak to more senators and enlighten them on the nature of his current home.

As Doghus listened tightly to the response of Senator Rhone, another of his fellow colleagues came by. He introduced himself, before shaking the hand of Gregory. Doghus waited for Gregory's response, before reaching out his own hand to the Senator of Shili.

Doghus had to admit not having met any Togruta up close, although Shilla had been in the Republic for some time. All he knew of the Togruta species was that they were frequent Force users, and that they had a strong sense of community. " Senator Doghus Dei of Balmorra, a pleasure to meet you. I must confess I have not visited your home planet, yet. But I know a good amount of your culture nevertheless. It comes with the post, I suppose. Now then, Marzipan, any thoughts on the current state of affairs? By my thinking I guess no one can remain idle against the Sith. If we are to act, we must act now." Doghus knew little of this Senator, but by his guessing and knowledge of the Togruta, they were interested in peace. How, that would be a thought to discuss.

Shortly after he had finished his questions to Marzipan, he heard a noise. A sudden growl from outside. As he saw Gregory hearing it too, he said: " I believe the Wookiees have arrived. We better not keep them waiting, if we wish our arms to remain in our sockets." Not that he heard any anger in the Wookie's voice. His limited training in Shyriiwook, which his wife insisted of doing with her, allowed him to crudely make sense of the growls of the Kashyyyk natives.

As he and Marzipan both looked to the way Gregory went, they saw a massive Wookie standing in the doorway, however he was flanked by another man, which Doghus could not make out. As it became clear that more guests were coming to the door, he asked for Marzipan to follow him, saying: " I am certain we can discuss this while walking, right? It appears the good Senator Rhone requires our help." He laughed shortly as he stretched his arm to let Marzipan proceed.

As he cautiosly heard the Togruta's answer, he stopped right behind Gregory. He waited shortly for Marzipan to finish, until he moved his thoughts to Rhone. " I hope everything is in order, Gregory? If my wife were here, it wouldn't be a bother. She is the envoy to the Wookiees for Balmorra." After that, he laid his eye on the Wookie Senator. Doghus, however a lover of exotic species like the Wookiees, was always cautious with the 'furry kind'.

Another sight that pleased Doghus was the entrance of Chanzot. As he waited for Gregory to finish his reply, as well as Rhone invitation to the Wookie Senator. After that, he could no longer hold his joy, and said to Chanzot: " Charon! How wonderful to see you again. I suppose it is just Senator Chanzot tonight. I can imagine the last weeks have been rough for you. How are you? Smiling as always. Although he was truly compassionate about Chanzot's wellbeing, he could not help but think that her arrival would have any ulterior motives. What they, would remain to bee seen. After he patiently listened to Senator Chanzot's response, he turned his eyes back to Saracbecca.

Although his first instincts was to handshake Saracbecca, he rethought that just in time, instead making a slow bow, before greeting Sarabecca with: " Senator Doghus Dei of Balmorra, nice to meet you. You must be Senator Sarracbecca. My wife has told me about you. She was on your world merely a month ago, I believe. Now then, I suppose this little tool is your translator? I've seen some of them, but I'm not sure. One could easily mistake them for a detonator indeed." He smiled after he finished, waiting for his response.

The men on the left, they will be greeted shortly, Doghus thought. To his appearance, they looked like some sort of scientists, and Doghus knew with certainty that their motives to be here were to trick out some more funding for their 'very important work'. Not that Doghus disliked scientists, he had convened with plenty on Balmorra alone, however their ability to always get out more money out of other peoples pockets was still a mystery to Doghus.

Nevertheless, the night was one of many faces, Doghus knew. You can't greet everyone at once, Doghus thought. He reminded himself to look for Miron too. If his assistant wandered of too long, he would perhaps miss the dinner. Not that Doghus knew if any servants were invited to the dinner, but he would sure enjoy the company of Miron.

Morbus was rather surprised when the man revealed he was a doctor. It was not an altogether common position, due to the high standards enforced by the Republic on who receives the coveted license to practice. He was even more surprised when he said he was simply a civilian leader. The void.... Where have I heard that before... Ah. So this man was from the Accord. Morbus had little knowledge of the Accord, his department of Czerka didn't do much business with them, but he HAD heard of the Void. From what he understood it was a city, or base of some kind. Rather large population of civilians. Breeding ground for all kinds of disease, or at least it had been when he heard of it. He had been tempted to go there when he heard, collect samples, but decided not to in the end.

" My curiosity begs that I ask, what might you be a doctor of?"

Morbus actually had to think for a few moments about that. It sounded like a fairly simple question, but he studied a very wide variety of topics, so he figured he would just give Dr. Wolfe a small breakdown of his... qualifications. "I study a number of disciplines but they all fall under biology. Generally microbiology, I don't mean to, as they say, toot my own horn, but I am quite the expert on genetic engineering and pathology... Especially it's potential uses in combat."

Senator Saracbecca paused as Rhone addressed a few more people before return to Saracbecca and introducing her to a pair of Senators standing nearby. First was Senator Chaznot of Zeltros, Saracbecca at least recognized this one. She bowed to the female Zeltron and exchanged pleasantries quickly with the woman before turning to the male. He introduced himself as Senator Doghus Dei of Balmorra. While Saracbecca had never met the man she knew the name and was on speaking terms with his wife.

"Senator Doghus Dei, it is an absolute pleasure to meet you. I was speaking with your wife just the other day and she was telling me a little about your time on Kashyyyk. It's always nice to meet people who are such great friends to the Wookies. I would love to sit and talk with you for a while in a more quiet setting. Perhaps our aides can set up a meeting sometime soon?"

Saracbecca let out a chuckle at the comment about her translator. "It's gotten me out of plenty of scraps, and now I can say that it has gotten me in to a few as well. And how is it you find yourself at a gala like this without your wife? I can't imagine she'd pass on a night to get dressed up and mingle with high minded indivivuals." Saracbacca growled allowing the translator to do its job.
