The Gauntlets of Spring and Autumn

"My fists are for more than destruction. These hands are shields. These fingers will guide me to salvation."
—Echani jedi battle prayer

The gauntlets of Spring and Autumn, (also known as the Hands of Seasons) are the famous tools of the battlefield. Made for a jedi long ago who had sworn off using a lightsaber the gauntlets have special properties. They have a long a conflicted history as well that makes it a sought after item by light and dark siders as well as even collectors.

Overview

The story goes that a force user was a warrior of great combat prowess. He fought his way against countless pirates, slew hundreds of criminals and bested the many of in duels. However he grew weary of bloodshed and the lines had blurred from what was justified in his quest to do right. Whether his weapon was destroyed in a battle or he simply discarded it is not known. However he requested the
commission of two gauntlets be made.

The Spring and Autumn gauntlets were designed differently than any other. Made for the weilder's Echani fighting style. To the naked eye when laying down they look more or less like any piece of armor. However when worn by a force wielder the gauntlet's begin to display sigils and icongraphy that seems to writhe when in one's peripheral vision. Made of cortosis weave, phrik and other lightsaber resistant material they are said to be worth the cost of a warship.

It is rumored that these gauntlets are lying among other treasures. The centuries past have made the information unreliable to say the least. But they are believed to have last been in the Jedi's possession though it is lost from their records as well. The last people heard was the planet holding the legendary Spring and Autumn gauntlets resided somewhere in the Spadja Sector.

Special Powers:

The Spring and Autumn Gauntlets to anybody other than force sensitives are little more than lightsaber resistant gauntlets and are worth the materials they are made out of. However for a force user, thanks to the method used to build them, seems to recognize when it is wielded by someone with an affinity to the force.

The gauntlets are more than capable of resisting such things as lightsabers. In fact normal gauntlets can survive a single lightsaber strike in most cases but even when struck with a mighty blow from one such saber the gauntlets do not seem to get a scratch on them. When used by a force sensitive these unique pieces of armor can trade blowed indefinitely with a lightsaber, even grab hold of a blade for short periods of time. Force techniques and powers can still be freely used without having to worry about weakening from a held weapon like a lightsaber.

The obvious drawback though is the nature of these gauntlets. They seem to know when another weapon is being held. If a force sensitive tried to weild a lightsaber or blaster in addition to these gauntlets the Spring and Autumn gauntlets would cease to hold their capabilities of resilience and be no different than normal phrik coated gauntlets. For that reason they are only warn by practitioners of unarmed combat.

Intent

To create a sort of 'monk' artifact. These are not outright deadly and will be exceptionally hard to use in pvp. However I like the idea of a PC doing kung fu against a lightsaber wielding enemy. I would also say that this does not count as the user's lightsaber resistant armor piece. If someone is going into battle with just their fists and some force powers I think allowing them one extra piece of lightsaber resistant material would not be too much to ask.

I've given these a lot of thought considering the potential ramifications that they can have in the pvp scene, but I think the drawbacks are appropriate. I also think the fighting style needed to use them will be super interesting and unique. So...

I'm going to Approve this on the condition that if it becomes an issue in PvP, I will revisit and possible unapprove or require further tweaks.
