Basilak moved in from another corridor to a place he saw in the force where several others were. Although he appeared old he had no doubt he could beat several of the newcomers with little trouble. He moved toward a corner where he could watch everything unfold.
Cain looked around and saw more or less everyone. He did not wish to wait any longer, so he stood in the middle of the congreation, the rest of his makeshift council at his side [Omega and NPC]. He took a breath.
"My friends," he said, "I have called you here today to discuss the future of our Order. You are no doubt all aware of the tensions in the galaxy, the Alsakan disdain for the Republic grows with ever day. It seems war is coming, and we need to outlast it. More than that, we need to choose our path. Should we dedicate ourselves to neutrality or to a side? And if so which side? Speak freely."
Kyrick stood up and said, "With respect Master, I know I am but a low rank in this order, my views are though I no longer serve the Jedi nor the Republic, the Alsakans, it would seem, started this hatred between the two, and everything I have been taught goes against supporting them. My personal belief would be to support the Republic in this endevour; however, we must not let ourselves get sucked into being viewed as 'Jedi'. That is all" He then sat back down and passivly waited for someone else to speak.
"By non-force users we will be grouped as Jedi, when we reveal ourselves, that is unavoidable. Whenever there are Force users with lightsabers who are not in league with the Jedi, the rest of the galaxy signs us off as a subsect of the Jedi...it is unfortunate, but not a problem. The Republican hierachs will know we are not one and the same with the Jedi. As for our allegances, although I too am inclined to preserve the Republic, I would prefer to wait a little and to see how this inevitbale war starts, and begins to pan out, before dedicating myself to a side," he finished and waited for another to speak.
"True the Alsakens are the aggressors but they are also a union based upon religion much like our own. If anything we should either be neutral or attack both of the groups."
Kyrick bolted up at that suggestion, "My friend, attack them both? are you crazy, we would bring the wrath of two of the galaxies most powerful organazitions down on our head. The Republic has stood for many, many years. We should dedicate ourselves to it's survival."
"We cannot wage war on the Republic or the Alsakans, both are great factions, let alone try to attack both. We need to consider our survival here, and if we are revealed we need to pick a side. Neutrality will only hold out so long, before we are seen as a threat by one side or another," Cain said, shocked by such a foolish suggestion.
"If we are to choose a side let us pick the Republic then if they begin to lose we should leave them to their fate and betray them."Basilak knew that Cain didn't like his previous suggestion but to be the victor one must alway be on offense.
Kyrick was aghast at what Basilak had just said, he simply sat in his seat and gave the man a disgusted look, displaying his utter contempt for someone who would even think of doing that.
Basilak looked at the person who gave him the dirty look."NO matter what kind of decency and honor you have it will not matter for religious maniacs or over controlling governments. We want this group to survive no matter what the cost. That is why we would have to change sides to the group winning."
Cain gave Kyrick a look that said Don't. He then turned to Basaliak, "Whichever side we choose, we will not betray them. Not while I sit on the leadership council of the Shade Order," then, as is reading his thoughts, he continued, "we are a small group of maybe fifty Force sensitives. The Republic has an army of millions and a Jedi Order with hundreds of Jedi Knights, let alone all of the apprentices and padawans. Betraying them would not be a good move, they are not our enemies, just not our friends. The Alsakans, too, are not enemies. I respect their culture, and that is the first lesson in basic politics, respect all sides. And they have an army to rival the Republic's and their own religious groups. Betrayal is the way of the dark side. We follow both aspects."
"No matter what the cost?" Natalia quoted Basilisk with the line that really stoud out to her. "Is that what you truly believe? That even if we cause the deaths of hundreds of people we should make sre that we survive. One of the main reasons we left the Jedi was ignorance, though with the jedi we left because they where ignorant of the dark side. You seem ignorant of the value of life."
Cain did not like the tone of that man, but he swallowed his reprimand, it would not do for now. He could sense the anger and fury in Basilak, and considered training him to control it. It would not do for a Knight of his order to be of such a sort.
"I do not have a solid plan," he said, "which is why I called this meeting. It would seem that certain people among you favour the Republic, but I would like to see what the rest of you have to say for yourselves."
