He wouldn't be the first person to burn for Star Wars.

Looks like they are taking this into the right direction, that's for sure. Lots of costumes, sets and practical effects. Oh, and fire.

I just saw this an hour or so ago via Facebook and ran here to see if there was some discussion going on - I am glad people had the same reaction I have had. I have literally been head-over-heels for everything I have seen or heard about this movie so far. I am genuinely so frickin' excited it's insane!!!

So Gwendoline Christie is playing a stormtrooper? Noice.

Eh.

The return of the Used!Future look is nice though. And some of the new costumes looked better than I expected, but the practical effects/CGI debate is a bit overhyped. Fury Road had lots of practical effects and it was fucking awful. Still expecting entertaining mediocrity out of it.

Everything looked very visually different to me. But then again the OT and PT had very different aesthetics. It'll be interesting to see if the sixty year old Millennium Falcon looks better than the twenty year old one. (years are approximate because, lazy.) Don't get me wrong it all looks amazing! It'll just be interesting how they portray things that are we've already seen while everything around it looks much crisper.

It's a different style too, for sure. You can tell with some of the shots in the trailer, and especially in that shot of Poe being led through the Star Destroyer as a prisoner, that the film's cinematography looks a bit like classic Star Wars while at the same time infused with JJ's style. That will certainly inform how a lot of it looks.
