How about Ion tech and phrik? I’m assuming the “rarity” of phrik will stay the same as it is, but will ion weapons be common?

Secondly, cybernetics/prosthetics. Are robotic replacements a thing (and how advanced are they?) or do people simply stick metal hooks on and glass eyes to deal with injuries?

I, for one, support hook or even scissor hands.

More specific information on a wider variety of tech will be forthcoming down the line.

Neat.

I'm liking the sound of the new armor system, as well as the need to actually RP the acquisition of more advanced tech. This does bring to mind a particular question though:

We often see people create advanced tech under a certain manufacturer name, or tie it to a particular species/culture, then claim that tech is only available (or at least more prevalent) in certain regions of space than others. And yet, lo and behold, every Tom, Dick and Harry from Coruscant to Ziost seems to be able to get their hands on these "rare" weapons. Will people be able to create advanced pieces of kit that can only be obtained through RP, rather than just handwaving them into their character sheets from day one? Or will there be a hard limit on how advanced any single tech submission can be, with more of a focus on "generic tech" being the status quo?

To give you another peek behind the curtains, we're working on a rather sizable stock tech release. Each of the planets mentioned in earlier announcements will have a handful of tech associated with them. Some tech will be shared among them since before the Hundred Year Darkness there was trade and all. So maybe when Onderon's full profile is released, you think that would be a really cool story to advance throughout the timeline, so you make a character to do plots designed to directly help Onderon. Eventually after doing enough work, reaching a certain level, you could ask to do a plot where you get one of those items as a reward. These would also be tech pieces somewhat better than your average tech.

There will, however, be a good amount of stock tech available to anyone. "Generic tech" should be the status quo. But the answer to your first question is also yes...the catch is these threads can't be simple "Bob went to the market and saw an amazing deal on the Annihilator 2000 so he bought it." Cad Bane probably worked his butt off to get all the cool stuff he had when we saw him in TCW, same will apply to people here. They can exist, but not every Joe Schmoe off the street will be able to have access to "the good stuff in back", so to speak.

But if you don't want to wait to do entire plots for something cool, loot it from another PC coprse. That's a valid option.

I don't want to come across as 'Old Norbs' here but -

Would it be viable at higher levels for characters who are more business and crime focused to gift and/or reward their associates with technology?

Also - the above aside: I'm actually looking forward to having to search and seek out the 'Good Shit'. Having started to read Doctor Aphra, it's given me plenty of ideas for threads and storylines around seeking out tech.

Approximately what year will this New campaign take place? Like thirty thousand years before Yavin?

I think it's been announced that Mandos won't be a thing this TL.

I think.

I think the last statement I've heard on the mandos that I know is it's to be announced.
