Matias rode in on his bike as was typical, the engine rumbling loudly and defensively as he checked his surroundings. Another dock and another meeting with an unknown client. He wasn't privy to these face-to-faces, preferring the comfort of Milly's bar over anywhere else, but it was an annoyance he would have to grow past. This was the second time he had a meet like this and he couldn't deny that the number of credits that usually followed these types of jobs was appealing and certainly helped.

Arriving in the center of the open dock, he stopped his bike in order to glance around to find his contact but to no avail. Matias did spot a warehouse and he could only assume that the meeting was supposed to take place there, the ping only listing the entire dock as a whole. Riding his bike in through the open gap of the massive double doors, he would be greeted with multiple stacked containers and crates that formed their own aisles. Thankfully, there was enough space for his bike in between and as he rode further, he found an open space in the center of all the rows that would allow him to park freely.

Pulling to the side of one of the crates, Matias once again gave another check of his surroundings to find the lights above flickering and the shadows laughing. With an exhale and a slow grunt, he swung his leg over to dismount from his ride. When he stood to his full height, he instinctively reached for his ribs as he felt a flare of pain there that eventually subsided. That wasn't the only... injury he was suffering, starting with a black eye, cut lip and cheek, bruised knuckles, and more underneath his clothing. The pace that he completed his contracts was fast, his skills becoming more refined but his body was paying the price for the opportunities.

Instead of waiting on his bike, Matias walked over to the nearby containers and placed his back against them with another quiet grunt. Slipping his hand into his jacket, he pulled out his carton of ciggarras and his lighter in one motion; prepared to ease the wait. Placing the cigarra in between his lips, he flicked the zippo lighter open to ignite it before slipping that and his nicotine compatriots back into his pocket. As the nicotine entered his bloodstream and gave a buzz, the sensation helped smother the pain as he tilted his back against the wall too.

Trelain had arrived to the location several hours before the allotted arrival time. She valued the ability to watch the comings and goings of the people in the area before a meeting like this. It helped set off any of her warning bells if this ended up being an ambush.

When the rather-noisy bike began weaving its way through the docking district, she knew it heralded the approach of her contact.

Truthfully, she was somewhat dubious about this meeting, but if worst came to worst, she could simply leave. There was little on the line for her except wasted time. But even her travels here had been spent acclimating her to her new position running the ISB.

She slipped down from the second story of the building across the street and moved across to meet with the man.

She wore simple clothes, nothing extravagant, with her lightsaber tucked away. She knew first and foremost how to keep a low profile.

When she rounded the corner to see him standing against the crates, she wondered if she'd made a mistake. He looked like he'd been recently beaten to a pulp, and she wondered to herself if he wasn't leaning on the crates if he'd just have fallen over.

She continued forward, the scent of the cigarra sending a craving deep into her chest. It prompted her to pull out one of her own as she approached him.

Got a light? she asked.

Someone new joined his relative peace as he heard footsteps close in toward him. Matias still didn't move, his face tilted up toward the ceiling mostly with his eyes remaining closed. Normally, there would have been precautions but he knew the procedure at this point. He wasn't big enough to have made a true enemy yet and he carried no riches that were worth being robbed of, at least specifically on him.

Not only did he catch the sound of her steps but he felt... something different about her. It was an odd sensation, one he had never experienced on his home planet but was becoming more and more familiar with each passing day on Bakura. There wasn't a way to explain it, a small itch that clawed at the back of his head that he couldn't get rid of. Even with his eyes closed, he felt like he could track her approximate position just fine.

When Trelain finally spoke up, Matias answered by silently reaching into his jacket and retrieving the zippo lighter for her. With his eyes still closed, he flicked it open in a practiced and eased motion, igniting it at the same time. The flame was already held out near her, only requiring her to bend down slightly to ignite her cigarra as he took his own long drag. When he caught the sound of burning paper, he pulled the lighter back before closing it and stowing it back into his jacket.

After another column of smoke was blown out from his lungs, Matais utilized his turn to speak, "From what I saw, there was no script in this. Only that half was paid now and then after." Another puff escaped from his lips before being recaptured by his nose, smoking filtering out from his mouth as he asked, "What do you want?"

Trelain put her cigarra to the light as he pulled it out, took a deep inhale, and blew the smoke into the air above her head. She used to think smoking was a disgusting habit. She'd taken it up because it allowed her to blend in seamlessly in any number of places. Someone standing on a street corner for no reason might arouse suspicion while waiting for a contact or performing reconnaissance. But someone standing on a street corner smoking was just one more of the billions of people stepping out to scratch their addiction. Now, she found herself wanting to partake when it wasn't just on the job, and she found that as she'd often been warned: you may become what you pretend to be.

He jumped right to business, which caused her to internally start a bit. It wasn't the best sign for the discretion part of this conversation, but then, he wasn't part of ISB. He wasn't trained in Intelligence, he was just a regular person taking on a job. Very mercenary.

She pulled the cigarra away and let out another puff upward. You don't even know who I am. Or that I'm the person you came here to meet, she said.

Or you always so brazen with your jobs? She was clearly an unapologetic and direct woman who called things as she saw them when she wasn't playing a part.

For some reason, where curtness and the exclusion of bullshit were usually appreciated, the woman pressed him on the fact that he got straight into inquiring about business. Was he missing something? This was the first this had ever been a problem. As she questioned his attitude with all jobs, Matias made a point to take an extra long drag from his cigarra, letting her wait as he allowed his lungs to be filled to the absolute brink.

When another pillar of smoke was released from him, he answered her question, "Let's break this down then. You weren't here when I arrived, so either you just arrived or you were waiting for me. Not hearing another vehicle and how fast you showed yourself, I assume it's the latter." Matias' eyes remained closed as he continued, "Since you were waiting; if you wanted to kill me you would have shot me when I was rolling up or when I began standing here. Much easier target"

"On this planet, people are nice enough to stick a gun straight to your face and get to the point if they wanted to rob you. They don't ask for a light first. That crosses off that possibility."
Matias had always appreciated that sort. It was a simple transaction and much more fun compared to the types that scheme and connive their way into someone's pocket.

"It's a job. I don't need to know who you are. I just need the details." Matias took his final long drag from his smoke, burning all the way to the filer before he took a step forward with a slight grunt, tossing the cigarra with a flick. He finally opened his eyes as he spun on his heel to face Trelain, his golden eyes carrying their normal glimmer despite his injuries. "Now, are you ready to cut the bullshit and get to the fucking point?" Red flags were starting to pop up in his mind and he was ready to dip at a moment's notice.

Trelain didn't even flinch as he went on his spiel, just continuing to smoke as casual as could be, but as she listened to him more she wondered if perhaps he wasn't the type for the kind of business she was looking for. Too early to jump to such conclusions, though.

No, she stated bluntly when he asked if she was ready to cut to the point. This is the point, she said.

I was considering offering you a longer term contract. Something that would pay far better than any of the recent jobs you've taken. The job today was just an audition, but if that doesn't interest you then I won't waste any more of either of our times. I'll pay you a small fee for your inconvenience coming here and we'll part ways, she said.

But such a contract comes with discretion, and thus far you haven't shown a lot of it, she said, her eyes cold and hard. She could sense something about him to be sure, but she didn't know yet what his real story was. There was what she had read in the reports, but that wasn't the same as who he really was.

Should I go on or are we done here? she asked, placing the ball solidly in his court.

Well, they were getting somewhere. From no script, he at least figured out a little about this woman from just their butting of heads. She obviously had connections with the fact this job was more an audition than anything else. Also obvious was the fact that whatever she did, it was lucrative as she was willing to pay just for the waste of both their times. That couldn't have pleased him more internally knowing that whatever happened tonight, he would be paid.

It would have been a lie to say Matias' curiosity wasn't piqued but he was also beginning to figure out the underworld of Bakura. It was too easy to get involved and swept up in the criminal organizations on the planet, their handprint on basically everything if someone inspected hard enough. There was a dose of skepticism that followed after that curiosity but that still meant it was in second place.

At his lack of discretion, Matias' first reaction would be a smirk that easily cracked across his face despite the cuts there. In order to progress this conversation, he swallowed his first response and modified it to another, "When discretion is absolutely needed, you can count on my services. Happy?" The factual statement ended with a rhetorical question and the motion of him pulling out another to cigarra to place in his mouth.

When it came to her question, Matias leaned against the nearby container as he covered his cigarra with one hand to ignite it. Glancing up to find she was actually searching for an answer after he lit the cigarra, both his hands were held up halfway momentarily before he answered, "Don't let me stop you. I want to be paid."

He at least gave lip service to discretion, though she was as of yet unconvinced. She supposed they would see and time would tell its own story.

The reality was that the job tonight should have been a relative softball, and it was one whose priority wasn't imperative. In other words, she didn't trust a biker thug to be able to get it done. But, she had heard good things, she had to remind herself.

I hope you're not squeamish, she said. We're going to kill this man, she said, handing over a flimsiplast photo of a snobby-looking man businessman in his middle ages. He was balding on the top and gave the impression he thought his clothes could buy him a personality.

Five-thousand now, five-thousand when the job's done, she said. She had foregone an entire professional target package as she thought it might arouse too much suspicion, but she had reviewed it for herself already. Just in case.

Matias's face remained neutral after her comment about him hopefully not being squeamish. He refrained from making a comment as it wasn't needed. Though he wished he could only show the woman what he had seen throughout his life on Savareen and now surprisingly Bakura. For how many cuts and scars, he bore on his physical body, just as many were applied to his mind as well.

Once again, no reaction broke out once she stated that their aim was to kill a man. In all honestly, he didn't mind at all. These jobs had actually been the ones he had worked up for as they were the most lucrative. As Trelain handed over the picture, he swiped it smoothly before bringing it underneath his gaze. The Sith would be able to see his eyes dart up and down the picture as he committed the face to memory. If the man's fashion sense held up, Matias suspected that he wouldn't have to recall his face as he would stand out enough.

When the money got brought up, Matias' golden optics quickly flipped up toward the woman. His attention had been immediately snagged by the number of credits that were being offered. It wasn't exactly pure greed that fueled him but it was clear that money was his only motivation at that point. With the picture pinched between two fingers, he would offer his hand forward as while bringing his two fingers back with the picture, basically offering Trelain three for her to drop the credit chip to trade back the picture.

If the credit chip was finally given to him, he would offer the picture back too before asking his questions, "Alright, what's the biz then? Location? Security? Type of kill? Are you on point or I am handling this OP?" They weren't rapid-fire but he gave them out in a bunch so he could finally rip his cigarra without being interrupted. As he waited, a cloud of smoke would spill out slowly from his nostrils like an angry bull.

Trelain reached into her pocket and pulled out the credits in a small bag, placing them in his hand and waving off the photo, indicating he could keep it for his reference.

Your job, your recon. I'm just here as an observer and an extra weapon if need be, she said. She wasn't usually one for taking orders and certainly not from people who hadn't earned her respect, but she'd at least give it a shot for now.

What I can tell you is that the target lives in a penthouse in his office building. Takes outside appointments and travels with a small security detail of ambiguous skill, she said. Okay, so Trelain actually knew how skilled they were, but he didn't need to know that. At least not at this stage.

Job's yours, she said, indicating she was waiting for him to make the plan and make the call.

When the woman's answer revealed nothing and indicated those efforts would have to be determined by him, he held in his scoff in order to not blow the other half of the credits. Matias saw how this was a true audition then as he would have to craft every avenue of this job himself.

What she did give helped very little in the grand scheme of things and this time he couldn't help the smirk that cracked along his lips. "How helpful," he murmured with sarcasm, the amount of skyscrapers and office buildings equal to the amount of hairs that he had on his head. Ambiguous skill was concerning but he would cross that bridge when he arrived at it.

Slipping the picture into his jacket, he waited to see if anything else would be added before she finally handed the reigns over to him. "Alright," he said with a nod to her and a flick of his cigarra to the ground, "Let's go then." Given that this was an audition, he assumed Trelain wasn't too keen on wasting time.

Matias spun on his heel and began to walk back to his back, only offering a glance back when he asked, "You have your own ride, or are you with me?" If this was completely his, then that meant he needed to meet his own contacts and associates that could help. They were deeper in the recesses of the city, places where the authorities were too afraid to step in.

Hopping on his bike and starting the engine, it rumbled with authority once again as it echoed through the warehouse. Matias would wait for a brief moment, offering Trelain a chance to get on with him before he took off himself and deeper into the heart of the city.

I'm not paying you to do the work myself, she quipped quickly in return. She seemed to have her own dry and possibly condescending sense of humor as well. They were quite the interesting duo.

She nodded as he said they should go. She wasn't here to be... somewhat helpful. She'd do what she was told within reason, and provide support to make sure his job went as well as possible based on what he chose to do.

I have a ride, she said, reaching into her pocket and producing an earpiece. So we can stay in contact. I'll follow you and pull around, she said, slipping her own earpiece in and sliding into her own speeder.

The outside of the vehicle was unimpressive, but the internals had all been replaced with a much higher power engine than it appeared.

Her speeder fell in behind his bike and they set off down the street and deeper into the heart of the city. She could sense the despair and depravity in this place and wondered where they were going. She was no stranger to the underworld and blending in but she was certain that he had a lot of different contacts than she did. That was part of the appeal of recruiting him, among other things.

Trelain confirmed she had her own ride and Matias was happy about it, though specifically not because of her. From those that rode with him to outsiders, his style of riding was perceived as risky and he preferred the freedom of being by himself. There was less restraint and that was what he was used to his entire life.

Once the pair got onto the street, the Warden would get an opportunity to witness just how hazardous his riding was. Instead of peacefully navigating the street, Matias simply split between whatever speeders were in their way. Red lights would be ignored and even the sidewalk wasn't left untouched as it would be used to clear a few clumps of traffic. No matter what obstacle they ran across, their speed would remain the same the entire time.

After progressing through the veins of the city to arrive at the center of it, the atmosphere would completely change. Instead of a haze of neon lights, there was a tangy musk to the air that seemed to cling to the skin. The number of speeders had dropped dramatically as did the police, the replacements for both mostly consisted of trash in both the living and literal sense. Matias didn't even offer a glance as he pressed on, the sound of his engine catching the attention of passersby, perplexed at the sight of the pairing and how relatively light they were compared to the norm.

A couple of turns later, the pair would eventually arrive at what appeared to be a half-operational droid dry-cleaner and waiting service. Just from the rundown nature of it, Trelain wouldn't be faulted if she thought they had arrived at the wrong place. She would find her answer though when Matias purposefully pulled into one of the parking spots and finally turned off his bike.

As Trelain pulled up, he would dismount at the same time and inform her in a tone that almost bluntly told her it wasn't a suggestion, "Whatever you do, don't stare at the droids, and don't speak unless indicated to." Even though she told him she was free to order around within reason, she seemed like the type not pleased to receive but give the orders instead. It made him hope this wasn't a mistake.

Trelain made her way behind him, her speeder having frankly more trouble keeping up with his bike than if she'd been on a bike of her own, but through clever maneuvering, more than a few traffic violations, and no small amount of combat driving experience, she managed to keep pace most of the way without ever truly losing him.

As he slowed and came to a stop, her eyes swept over the place in front of her followed by a sweep with her sense in the Force.

What a karking dump, she thought to herself as she shut down her speeder and swung out of the vehicle. Many times she found herself missing being out in the field, and then she ended up in some place like this and remembered that being in the field could be absolute garbage for about 95% of the time. But the thing that had always kept her busy and driving through that 95% was the 5% when things got exciting. The thrill of the chase and the kill was unmatched.

This was not the 5%.

He turned to her and bluntly told her not to talk, and she cast him an unimpressed glance, but true to her word didn't say anything. Instead, she motioned for him to lead the way and fell in behind him, casting a glance back once again over her shoulder and getting a sense of just how little everything in this line of work had changed. She could help the small smirk tugging at her lips as she made her way inside.

There wasn't much to add after his initial instructions and he would just have to trust that Trelain would listen. It had taken too much blood, sweat, and tears for Matias to lose this contact on some random job. The gesture for him to lead though was reassuring she agreed to these terms and snuffed any further complaints that were about to ferment in his mind. As his response, he silently stepped forward and led them up the stairs.

At the top, they would arrive at a pair of double glass doors that opened automatically for them to reveal a metal hallway and another similar door. Matias took lead once again, his long stride helping him traverse the short distance rather quickly. When they arrived at the second door, he rasped his knuckles against the metal loudly before slipping his hand back into his pocket. Seconds would tick by and an audible whir could be heard from the corner of the door frame.

A small hole opened and some sort of handmade contraption that resembled a camera popped out. It twisted its serpentine like body in order to peek down at the pair, the lens routinely flicking between them; as if debating with itself on what to do. After a few moments, the camera finally slithered back into its hole and the two would be able to hear the door unlock itself before it fully opened.

Inside, they would find what appeared to be a regular dry cleaner, a counter at the end with an automatic rack behind it that frequently changed out the selection of clothes. The first noticeable thing would be the number of droids present from guards, janitorial staff, and the hand cleaners themselves in the back. As the pair stepped forward though, one of the doors on the side would open and have a Twi'lek with magnifying googles practically glued to his face. "Four." He said calmly and no hint given as to how he really felt, "It's been a while. I thought my babies scared ya off." The man would stand behind the center of the counter before glancing at Trelain, "Who's this?"

Matias gave the man a smirk as he greeted back, "Tyfin." A glance would be offered to one of the droids before he added truthfully, "Not yet. Give it time." Still, he found himself distancing wherever the droids were hired. When it came to Trelain, he took a peek at her before speaking up to seize Tyfin's attention, "My silent and forgetful friend."

Tyfin returned his gaze back to Trelain, burrowing it into her as if he formulate the risks and calculate the worth of her being involved. Before he could offer an opinion about her, Matias pressed his advantage and pulled out the picture of the target to place it in front of the Twi'lek. "I need to know what the biz is with this man. It will be worth it like always."

Slowly looking back to Matias, Tyfin eventually reached forward for the picture in order to inspect it himself.

Trelain took in everything as they advanced. Her business was all about noticing the small things that were out of place because anyone worth their salt in intelligence wasn't going to mess up the big things.

But small things like having a little too much security outside the dry cleaners told a story of its own that Trelain didn't miss.

True to her word, however, she said nothing as she went inside, following him throughout the entire place until she stood in front of Tyfin. Silent and forgetful... well, she was one of those things, but Tyfin didn't have to know she wasn't the other.

She gave an upward nod at the man in "greeting" but said nothing else, letting things play out between Tyfin and Mattias as she cast a glance back at one of the droids that seemed to make the biking ruffian a bit nervous. She wondered what secret horrors lay inside to make someone like him squeamish. She knew she probably didn't really want to find out.

Tyfin's gaze remained on Matias for a handful of moments until it finally retreated to the picture. With one hand, snagged and lifted the picture to his face, the spectacles reflecting half of their target's face on the glass. As the seconds ticked by, the Twi'lek finally spoke up, first clearing his throat with a deep grunt before adding, "Yeah, I know him. My droids attended a couple of his parties before. Pays well." The picture remained in his hand as he slightly tightened his fist around it. One more cautious scan of Trelain was taken before he finally nodded, "Alright, come with me." Spinning on his heel, he began to lead the way down one of the nearby hallways.

Matias watched him walk for a couple of seconds before glancing back at Trelain. Even though nothing was said, the silent message in his eyes told her, "Don't fuck this up for me." He cocked his head in the direction of Tyfin, indicating that it was their time to follow.

Halfway down the hallway, the Twi'lek would stop in front of a door with a keypad. Pressing almost what appeared to be a random combination of buttons, the door finally unlocked before sliding open to reveal a set of dark stairs that extended downward. Where white walls inhabited the main lobby, they were now replaced with sheets of metal, wiring looping in and out from the panels. Tyfin proceeded first, followed by Matias next, and without much concern. This was his third time going down to the basement, after the second he had gotten over the initial feelings of apprehension.

When they fully arrived at the bottom, Tyfin through the darkness out of memory before switching on the lights. One by one they flickered on to reveal some sort of control room. One wall was covered with screens, almost too many to count as they were each different sizes. Switches, keys, dials, and other instruments littered the control panel beneath them. Droids hung from the ceilings by chains, some half dismembered or parts completely missing, a house of horrors almost for the machines. From where they stood as well, the pair would be able to see another hallway, obviously, an escape tunnel that only into a web of more.

Tyfin made his way over to the console as he inspected the picture, muttering to himself quietly as he tried to remember. A few moments later, he did as he let out a humorless chuckle, "There you are." Walking over to what almost appeared to be a grid of buttons, he pressed two of them at the same time before stepping back. On cue, both Matias and Trelain would hear what sounded like the shifting of gears and other machinery before they were completely replaced by the pair of two heavy sets of footsteps.

Two waiter droids stepped out of another connected hallway, their paths already determined as they went over to the console before stopping. They turned around in unison to have their backs face the screens; Tyfin stepped in behind them after he opened panels in their head. With another typing of passcodes, whirring would erupt from both before the Twi'lek gave a push, opening their heads completely as they revealed ports. Reaching behind him, Tyfin pulled out two thick wires before connecting them directly to the two ports.

Within seconds, on all of the screens, footage of a random party would begin to play on mute, specifically from the eye-level perspective of what could easily assume to be the droids. At that moment, Trelain would find her answer why he wasn't the biggest fan.

Trelain took in and noted everything going on around her, not just physically but in the Force. The feelings that poured out of the man in front of her. His suspicions and intentions. It was all laid bare before her. She even searched Matias, noting the distant discomfort in him over where they were and what they were doing. Tyfin made him uncomfortable.

As they started heading down into a basement - because nothing ever went wrong in basements - she resisted the urge to run her hand along her lightsaber hilt. The Force was her weapon, and she could scorch a room full of people in a heartbeat if need be.

However, it still paid to stay alert. As he plugged the droid into a holodisplay she let out a quiet hmph. That was a neat trick and she could think of endless possibilities for the intelligence community. In fact, they also had many droids that could do just that.

Trelain's reaction would not go unnoticed by Tyfin. Even though his gaze never tore away from the screen, he repeated the phrase from Matias gruffly, "A silent and forgetful friend." The words were more pointed to the Darth, as if he had read her mind or at least gotten a peak that she was playing with one of his ideas. "I hope that distinction was not false," the Twi'lek added, his eyes scanning the holodisplay furiously as he combed through the footage at double the speed. After a few seconds, he would bring the video to a screeching halt as he quickly found their target.

The pompous man stood in the center of the party and surrounded by old businessmen, drunkenly chatting it up. "Grupert Tocklin. One of the greediest sons of bitches I've ever had the pleasure of watching and doing business with." Tyfin's words finally placing a name and outline of what the man did for one of them. Matias was pleased his assumption to come here first had proven correct. Given the picture, the man appeared wealthy and with Tyfin's business, those were the general clients he served. Cheap labor was hard to resist and that was taken advantage of. Thankfully, it had served to their benefit tonight.

Despite Grupert being the man of the hour, when Matias stepped forward, his gaze was completely distracted elsewhere. There were four separate men that surrounded the group, each practically holding their own corner of the invisible box they formed. Two of them appeared at least like normal human guards, both dressed in tuxes and blending in with the theme. The third was a droid, a type that he had no clue about because of his lack of experience back home. The fourth was the one that stood out to him, a Kaleesh that had readily spat on the idea of blending, battle-scarred armor covering most of his limbs and torso. A massive sword resided on his back and it stood out like a sore thumb with the present company the Kaleesh was with.

Matias inspected the alien for few moments as he was the only one who openly showed their weapons. The somewhat blurry image wasn't conducive to figuring out the armaments of the guards and that's when he turned halfway to peer at Trelain. "Your time to spill, what am I facin' on this screen?" While he didn't mind too much that he had to gather this information in a brief period, it was the woman's turn to tell the truth as he wasn't rash enough to enter blind.

Trelain's expression looked largely unamused as she was once again reminded not to repeat what she was seeing. Ultimately, she just scowled at Matias and said nothing.

Her own eyes swept over the display and fell on the four guards on the screen. She knew who they were, but she also knew that she wasn't interested in speaking about any of this in front of Tyfin.

I've got information in the speeder, she said, making plausible excuse for why she wouldn't say it now. She wasn't interested in pissing off Tyfin, but she also wasn't going to share anything while she was down here.

She waited for him to extricate himself from this conversation and as they were moving on, she spoke up.

The Khaleesh is the head of security and is obviously the one who carries visible weapons. The droid is a protocol droid, but heavily modified. Under the housings is an assortment of weapons: flamethrowers, dart-throwers with neurotoxins, hold out blasters, and probably more. There aren't any official schematics out there for all his mods. The two humans are local special forces, retired, she said. In other words, any of them could be a real problem for the biker. He'd have his work cut out for him if it came to a direct fight.

She climbed aboard the speeder as they headed off to the next location. How are you planning to do it? she asked out of professional curiosity.
