How would I go about doing that? Would I need to make a plot?

I can come up with the specifics for the Dalyrake plot, if you want. Maybe a couple squadrons worth?

I'm thinking we could snatch a bunch of them still crated up from a bulk freighter. Maybe the freighter, too.

If you are already doing a plot to get stuff it would be included in the plot the OP is running
Okay, awesome. There's that, then.

Sounds like a plan to me.

I could come up with a 3-thread outline if you want to submit it.

@AutoFox Sounds good! Go ahead. I need to make a call that could take a while.

@Yuan

Alrighty! Here are the scenarios I have in mind for the 3 threads.

Thread 1
Eice Frex has been alerted by one of her contacts in the Outer Rim that they require an urgent meeting to relay sensitive information on the movement of the Blackrow Hyperlogistics corporation, a known ally of the Sith. The information, apparently, may lead to an opportunity to procure equipment for the growing civilian resistance against the Sith advance. The players must meet with the contact on Corlass, and fend off an attack by Blackrow corporate security agents.

Thread 2
The players have learned that Blackrow Hyperlogistics' Risk Management division, having ramped up its recruitment and arms procurement activities in support of the Sith war effort, is due to receive a shipment of factory-fresh R-70 Dalyrake pinnaces from Corona Defense Products, its main vehicle supplier. Enough to equip 2 squadrons. These are to be shipped from a CDP factory on Arramanx. The players' goal is to infiltrate the Corona Defense Products factory docks, locate the ship being used to transport the crated Dalyrakes, and smuggle themselves aboard.

Thread 3
The players must quickly and stealthily subdue the crew of the A3 Heavy Freighter transporting the crated pinnaces, as well as the security force of S1 Infantry Droids employed to guard the cargo. Meanwhile, 1 or 2 of the players must fly some of the freighter's defensive fighter craft to deal with the 2 R-70 Dalyrakes flying escort, which have gotten wind that something is amiss on board. After defeating the crew and security forces, the players escape into hyperspace with their prize.

How's that?

Sounds good! Think if we bump it up by one more thread we could snag 3 squadrons?

Well guys. Running into some snags. Deviant says that she only sees us getting about 3 ships total for the 4-thread plot and Sreeya pointed out that Blackrow is heavily defended by the sith so we would have to do open threads and likely face sith resistance. Could be fun! But probably wouldn't go so well since a couple of our characters are lvl 1. Plus, for a small payoff, don't know that it would be worth it.

Now, I did get an interesting idea from what Deviant said. If we had a faction we could probably get more stuff. It does occur to me that we seem to have at least 5 PCs into this, so we might be able to put together a resistance faction real quick. But, someone else would need to take the lead as my character is only lvl 1 and can't start a faction.

Also, there is another issue to consider.

It looks like the Jedi are making their last stand over Courescant. Since Courescant is already in enemy hands (since the republic turned against the Jedi) there is probably not going to be a ground battle. Granted the Jedi haven't even invited us to join yet anyway (fasteagle said his Jedi would ask if we could join) but if we do join them, it's probably going to be all in space.

Sooo... What do y'all think? I wanted to do this for fun, but if it is too much trouble then it won't be as fun for people. Should we keep trying? Or let it die? I can't do it without y'all, so I'll let y'all decide.

I have no characters in the realm of space fighting, so unless this turns into a ground battle then I don't see myself participting effectively.

Nah, my character’s not going to do a thing in space. The Republic anyways is probably going to die falling, with both the Sith and Jedi fighting in the capital, so perhaps if you guys could fight in the defence of the capital against both Jedi and Sith, that would be cool. Maybe just against the Sith.

We could just stage our defence on some other world and like double time our way through gathering troops and supplies etc.

Well, the key to the ground fight even if we did it ourselves is the shield generator. Without it the imperials will just bombard us from space without a fight. Even if we were able to put together a half-decent fleet, we wouldn't have enough ships to block their fleet from doing so. They would just go around us while we fought. Unfortunately, the only shield generator available is faction specific to the Jedi, so without their support it's unlikely that we will be able to get one.

I guess the thing to do now is see if the Jedi leadership responds to our offer and see if any of our lvl 2 characters are willing to try and start a faction. Without those 2 key points, I don't know that we will be able to put anything together as our ship-earning potential is dismally low and half of our members are probably going to want to back out due to the lack of a ground fight.

Not to be a negative Nancy or anything, just realistic.

I'm sure most of you know, but for those who are new and aren't aware, PC factions require plot(s) to set up. You need to establish a reason to create it, a direction, leadership, a base of operations if you need one, assets (possibly including NPCs), etc. Some of the setup may require risk, depending on what you want, how much you want, where you plan to set up and whatnot.

Well yeah, that's what I was thinking. Some or even a lot of our goals could be consolidated in the creation of the faction. But it might be a little too much given our time restraints.

I'm thinking that at this point, it may be too little, too late to build a NEW faction. We simply don't have enough time to get established, and for my money, starting a whole faction just to go out in a blaze of glory is kinda dumb. We can all still do that as individual characters.

HOWEVER.

I'm thinking that we COULD still do something. It could be that our characters can see the writing on the wall; the Sith are ascendant, the Jedi and the Republic are fading, all is already lost. It is too late now to stand up and fight openly, the enemy is too strong. But where we cannot yet rise, our descendants might. We cannot save the present, but we can save the future.

We should do some plots that deal with efforts to prepare for the coming resistance. We can steal weapons and ships, establish hidden bases, form cells, that sort of thing. If we lay the groundwork now, a lot of stuff can happen in the 500 year gap before the next timeline.

What d'you guys think?

Hmm. I... Hadn’t thought of that. That would help the Rebels be in a much stronger position than from new. I like it!

Well guys. I think it's over. I just haven't heard anything back from anyone, leading me to think that either they have their own thing going and we're not invited, or they don't want to add any more players to the posting rounds.

The Free Trade Guild and the Deucalians have had their leadership either die fighting the sith and other enemies, or go AFK, so neither can make a move. With the Jedi unresponsive to our calls, and no higher-ranking characters volunteering to try and throw together a last-minute faction, we have no faction to support us.

Without a faction, we apparently have no hope of gathering enough resources to make a stand. We can't put together a ground force that won't get pulverized by an orbital bombardment, so the sith won't bother fighting on the ground, which defeats the purpose of forming the force. Without a ground battle to be had, half of our volunteers are going to be out. Any space force that we manage to scrape together won't be big enough to even get close to the Imperial fleet before they get blown out of the sky, especially with only 3 players. This was a suicidal move from the beginning, I knew that, but I at least wanted a fight of some sort, even if it didn't last all that long.

I'm sorry guys. I failed you. But this was a fun idea, and I appreciate you all humoring me while it lasted! It's good to know that there are so many members on this site not afraid to sign up for a challenge! Y'all can go ahead and join Autofox in preparing for the rebellion. That's a good idea. Since I'm not planning on going Rebel for my new TL character, I'm going to pass and focus on making my new character and all that. Good luck to y'all though! See you all on the other side!

Meanwhile, Monsi walks away slowly so that he could join the Exodus plot without being noticed.

Jokes aside, I think this would have been a pretty good plot if there were some more active Independent factions, but this is not the day for such a plot, it was fun anyway.
