The Star Wars RP
The Fifth Timeline

You spoke. We listened.

A very large number of people, as seen in this thread, would like to change timelines. I speak for myself when I say I really like this timeline and would like to see it keep going, but I understand that apparently most people do not. So, as I said, the staff and faction leaders took what you all said to heart and we came up with three potential timeline concepts for your consideration.

The three concepts are as follows:

KOTOR era, c. 2,979 BBY
It has been nearly 700 years since the events of Star Wars: The Old Republic. The Galactic Republic once again governs the galaxy without contention, as it has for centuries. The Jedi have flourished under the peaceful setting of the galaxy, settling minor disputes as the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy without having to fight a war. That, however, will soon change.

Deep in the catacombs of Korriban, the leaders of the Sith remnants have quietly plotted to begin a new war against the Jedi Order, and the forces of this Sith Empire are watching and waiting throughout the galaxy for their orders to unify once again and reclaim what was once theirs: the galaxy.

This timeline is further away from KOTOR, but it's still basically KOTOR. It's far enough away from both The Old Republic and the New Sith Wars so it can safely avoid running into any major canon events. Like the first and second timelines, it allows us to forge our own wars in the KOTOR era without having to worry about stepping on canon's toes.

As an added note, 2,979 BBY is exactly 10,000 years after the start of the First Hutt War (12,979), which is why I chose that year.

New Sith Wars era, c. 1,650 BBY
It is a century after the campaign against the Dark Underlord, and the galaxy is deep into the thousand year conflict known as the New Sith Wars. The New Sith Empire continues to fight against the combined forces of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order. The balance of power currently tilts towards the Republic and the Jedi, but that could change at any time.

This timeline can be similar to a KOTOR era while also allowing us to move past it and into the uncharted New Sith Wars era. We try to stay away from canon events, and while this does put us into a canon era it also gives us plenty of breathing room. The New Sith Wars can be considered an era much like the KOTOR and TOR eras, where it's a series of interconnected conflicts but not necessarily one long continuous war that we would be trying to RP.

Post-Legacy era, c. 1,000 ABY
Decades have past since the end of the Legacy era. Darth Krayt's empire has fallen, and the peace between the Galactic Alliance and the Galactic Empire has died with it. A new balance of power has risen, preparing to inherit the struggles of the Galactic Civil War.

Deep in the Unknown Regions, a band of dark warriors has pulled together the strongest armies of the region, reclaiming the mantle of an old enemy long thought dead: the Sith Empire.

This timeline brings the two biggest fandoms of Star Wars together; the Skywalker Epoch and the Old Republic. It is advantageous in that it allows us to draw on every piece of previous canon, so Stormtroopers, Star Destroyers, X-wings, etc. all exist and can be used. It also allows the existence of the Sith and KOTOR-like Force user battles not seen in the Skywalker Epoch.

All three are in more familiar eras and all three include the Sith, which were two major things that people were looking for. These don't speak about the Mandalorians but they could also be included.

These are also very rough concepts. They are not meant to be anything more than that. We wanted to see which of these three you all liked, and from that a more detailed concept could be created which would then be fleshed out by a think tank of admins, faction leaders, and other members.

I've put up a poll to see which one you all would like to go with. If it's a very close vote, then a simple majority may not be the one that we end up going with. If it's a very clear cut majority, then obviously that's the one we would likely go with. You guys have to choose which one you think you would enjoy more, and us admins have to weigh that as well as which timeline will attract the most amount of people and which can be sustained the longest.

You probably have a lot of questions. What will the factions be? Who will be the faction leaders? Who will be in the think tank? Etc. Etc. Those aren't questions we can answer yet, so please don't ask. We're just trying to get a rough idea at first as to where you want to go for a timeline.

As for when this would theoretically happen, the consensus in the RP OOC thread seems to be that it should be sooner rather than later. I like the idea of July 15th. It's the 2 year anniversary of our current timeline -- and it means KEEP RPing! It'd be dumb to have everything die now. Finish off your storylines and what not.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please post them here. Thanks!

The KotOR era, while my personal favourite, would probably be easiest to roleplay - assuming that most of our forum members have played the series, and with SW:TOR coming out soon, we'll have a nice, fresh supply of canon to draw from for inspiration (locales, settings, etc.) I can definitely see that one working out well.

I really don't want to go into post-legacy tbh, I'm not a fan of post-ROTJ Sith at all.

Then why not make them better? This is our chance to improve them!

Because the concept is just tacked on in the first place. I never bought any of the Sith revivals after Palpatine died.

We could do something like a Dark Jedi finding a holocron made by Palpatine- it continues the original line.

I voted for the post-legacy era on the hope that the basic philosophy of the "sith" of that time line will be the same as the older sith, rather than the rule of one or rule of two stuff.

My gripe with Post-ROTJ Sith is that it renders Darth Vader useless, but I don't mind really.
