The Dread Lords of the Apocalypse or more simply known as just 'The Dread Lords" as a cabal of Sith working in secret throughout the galaxy. Their origins trace back all the way to the beginning of the Hundred Years of Darkness. Now they remain vastly unknown to even their fellow Sith as their covert operations range from the legitimate businesses in luxury towers to illegal affairs in the seediest of back alleys.

The reach of the Dread Lords was possible thanks to the foresight and planning of Cyzyn-Itza-Rus Xho'thal who orchestrated numerous events to unravel in a desired manner. Now with his fellow Dread Lords they continue to manipulate the galaxy to better their agenda.

While unknown by most of the galaxy others have unwittingly worked for and with the Dread Lords. Their goals are primarily towards bettering the Sith Empire to eventually dominate and correct the faults they see in the galaxy. But knowledge is power and only the lucky few earn such information.

Their primary goal in the galaxy is to research and uncover the hidden truths that lay dormant. Exploration endeavors to find old artifacts, tap into their mysterious powers as well as pursue new fields of research. Force nexuses, new force techniques and knowledge on the force in general are all examples of their relation with the larger Sith Empire. Thus far they have kept their operations secret and for good reason.

History

The origins othe Dread Lords of the Apocalypse stretch farhter back then their current leader. In the shadows at the beginning of the Hundred Years of Darkness there were five Jedi Exile masters who slunk into the darkness as many Jedi Exiles and the Jedi Order warred against eachother. They met in secret, manipulating economies, setting up events, and pushing inevitabilities.

Building up their power and influence they became legends, whispered about like corporeal nightmares. Even other Jedi Exiles that heard of them were wary to a point. But the Dread Lords seldom came into the light. Each of them were of an aspect of the apocalypse that was to come, or one that was already present.

Over time each of the five Dread Lords disappeared, dying out beyond the vision of the public or going missing on an epic venture never to be told by another. But their whispered legend lived on. They all kept their own temple, a shrine to their aspect of armaggedon. Many of these became decrepit and forgotten in time. They used to be places of learning and trial.

The last remaining Dread Lord had a small host of apprentices whom he groomed to be his replacement. Even the Dread Lords were not safe from the ravages of the end times, especially Death. Having slain his own opposition for the title of Death the last apprentice left the shrine of his late mentor to take up the mantle and continue the legacy of the Dread Lords of the Apocalypse. His name was Cyzyn-Itza-Rus Xho'thal.

Cyzyn-Itza-Rus Xho'thal brought together four other Jedi Exiles after the end of the Hundred Years of Darkness. He met with them as the former Dread Lords had done. They agreed to join him in his venture. Together they silently worked, their machinations opening up pathways for leaders, snuffing the tales of some and orchestrating catastrophe.

Along the way some fell, others disappeared, but others still rose to great power in the same time. While individually some members were recognized for their prowess they would utilize their acquired influence for the agenda of the Dread Lords. The colonization of an independent and hidden backwater planet is among some of their most recent exploits. Securing an exclusive relationship with Southern Star Transportation and Freight allowed them to move personnel, materials and equipment. For now they continue to rise to power and build their numbers with new recruits. They have established a separate fortress as well on D'Qar where they now assert their control. It is now head quarters for the Dread Lords' ever expanding operations and is unknown by anyone other than those that are a part of their operations.

Structure

Though Cyzyn-Itza-Rus and his Dread Lords are members of the Sith Empire they have their own organization:

Dread Council-

Lord of Death: This position is occupied solely by Cyzyn-Itza-Rus. In the event of his death, the position passes to his Chosen. This position is the honorary leader of the Dread Council.
Lord of War: This position is occupied by only
one (1) being, pcked by Cyzyn-Itza-Rus himself, who served as alongside him among the council of Dread Lords. If they die one of their Chosen is next in line for the position.
Lord of Pestilence: This position is occupied by only one (1) being, pcked by Cyzyn-Itza-Rus himself, who served as alongside him among the council of Dread Lords. If they die one of their Chosen is next in line for the position.
Lord of Famine: This position is occupied by only one (1) being, pcked by Cyzyn-Itza-Rus himself, who served as alongside him among the council of Dread Lords. If they die one of their Chosen is next in line for the position.
Lord of Conquest: This position is occupied by only one (1) being, pcked by Cyzyn-Itza-Rus himself, who served as alongside him among the council of Dread Lords. If they die one of their Chosen is next in line for the position.

The Chosen-

Each Dread Lord has their own aspect and under this aspect of the apocalypse they have warriors, agents and individuals that are similarly devoted to the darkside. There is no limit to the number of Chosen a Dread Lord may have. When a Dread Lord passes the Chosen is often the next in line to assume the titel though a Dread Lord may be selected from outside of the immediate organization. But other Dread Lords may choose to not recognize a newly risen Chosen and select a replacement in the event of an unfit legacy. All members of the Chosen are force sensitive and dark side oriented and must be members of the Sith Empire.

The Exarchs-

Cyzyn-Itza-Rus is aware that one does not have to be force sensitive to be of use. That is why there are mercenaries, hunters, slicers and beings of an array of professions that will find their way into the employ of the Dread Council. These beings cannot become Dread Lords but still benefit from being within the circle of the Dread Council's influence and power whether they know it or not. They can attain great wealth and power in their own area of operation. Exarchs can command groups of Aspiring and have significant sway and importance in the Dread Council's operations. An Exarch is not necessarily under the command of just one Dread Lord, instead serves the council as a whole.

The Aspiring-

Similar to the Exarchs though are usually the step before. While the Exarchs are masters of their crafts and hold significant power and influence or expertise the Aspiring are lower on the totem pole. However through proving themselves and dedicating time and effort they can elevate themselves higher. However they have little information on the Dread Council's operations and any info they attain is usually compartmentalized and limited.

Note: The Dread Lords of the Apocalypse does not work based off of Levels. Members are chosen for positions based on their willingness to take part in the organization's story and their overall contributions/activity. Members of Dread Council can also work with other organizations and their members within the Sith Empire who may be allied with the Council.

D'Qar's Government

Cyzyn-Itza-Rus has founded a colony on the backwater planet of D'qar. Naming it D'qar it is the Ti'ss'shar word for Seed. The inhabitants are few and number only in the thousands (For the time being). The vastly unsettled planet means large amounts of resources and plenty of space between individuals. From his fortress Cyzyn-Itza-Rus and the other Dread Lords rule via a semi-feudalistic unitary oligarchy. They hold the power as the true lords and rulers of the system.

Together they have put in place the leaders of the community with titles of Aspiring and Exarch for the civilian populace. Cyzyn-Itza-Rus technically controls the entire planet as the leader of the Dread Council. However governance over portions of the planet are given to the Dread Lords in portions if they so wish. Small towns and villiages are controlled by Aspiring or Exarchs and keep a control on the population.

The government has little interaction in the day to day lives of the people on D'Qar due to the small population and the self policing they conduct. However there has been put in place a dedicated sheriff as well as other public services. Education, labor and other points of governance have been put in place. Members of the community that hold these positions are ultimately controlled by the Dread Council though some of them hold the position of Exarch and Aspiring in their organization.

Slavery is permitted but only if the person who is the person to be owned agrees to it and signs a contract. There are no current slaves on the planet since the entire founding colony population are ex-slaves themselves. All the land was divided up respectively when the first colonists arrived and has been served to individuals as they have increased in numbers over time.

Society and culture on D'Qar

To the people of D'qar the Dread Lords are their saviors. They are a mysterious group that keep to themselvess and freed them from their life of slavery and bondage. Now content with the fresh world they have they live a fairly peaceful life unconcerned with the events that are going beyond the system.

Most of the planet is rural, even the largest settlements are just a few hundred people. However they have all learned to become independent and self-reliant due to the wilderness of the planet. Limited technology exists on the planet, only what the Dread Council provides and usually it is far from top of the line. Imported domesticated beasts of burden are the primary mode of transport with the occasional land speeder.

Farms make up the majority of the settled landscape and there is plenty of room. Almost ancient and backward in time if one were to walk through the streets. Credits are still used as the primary method of currency though trading for services is nearly just as common.

Serving the local rulers is still popularized and joining the Dread Council's organization allows locals to possibly venture off world. The fortress itself is better in terms of living conditions than most of the simple self-built housing on the planet. The prospect of living in the castle amongst the Dread Lords is a dream many aspire to attain. This motivates many of the colonists to better their craft and potentially attract the attention of the Dread Lords or one of their subordinates.

Alliances & Relationships
This only states the relationships with major galactic players. As such, subfactions and small independent factions may not be displayed here.

Blue indicates a strong alliance/friendship.
Green indicates a mutually profitable relationship or a one-sided appreciation, more neutral than anything else.
Red indicates a heated rivalry or an enemy.

* While the Dread Lords of the Apocalypse view some factions as enemies they will sometimes work for or with them to achieve a greater goal. However these usually end up to the detriment of their enemies.

Intent

To create a cohesive write-up of Cyzyn-Itza-Rus's operations that have been going on since the start of the TL and provide a dedicated sub-faction for other players to join, create and enjoy. Mainly focused on discovering the techniques and break-throughs that the sith made in legends and giving a reason and back story to how they were discovered in the first place.

@Phoenix if you have the power to do so could this get moved over to the Sith area of the board so it can be placed along with the Black Hand, Judgement, and The Sith Inquisition?

For the moment I’m going to hold off on that since those are for Council-led groups at the moment
