The Current State of the Jedi Order

The Jedi have thrived for many years, and they will continue to persist in their conquest years after this time. Like the other factions and smaller organizations of the Star Wars universe, these groups of people fighting for their own cause, will naturally change and develop over time. The Jedi have transitioned from their time as the Army of Light, to the Jedi Order, and with this evolution has brought new ideas and outlooks to the current state of the galaxy.

The Jedi Order and The Army of Light

To help you better understand the direction we are taking with the Jedi, I am going to break down one of the main events that desperately needs to be clarified. Many years before the time skip, The Army of Light, and the Jedi Order worked alongside each other. They were two branches of the same organization. The Jedi. As time progressed however, the Army and Order moved in two different directions. Because of the actions the Army of Light took, in their view, to better the state of the Jedi, the Order took it upon themselves to break off from their sister branch. The two stayed exclusive from each other for years after their divide.

Due to a tragic turn of events, near the end of the post-Time Skip era, the inhabitants of Tython were completely wiped out by the Sith. The Jedi Order had been stripped of their sacred planet, and they were left with little but the ability to mourn over their terrible loss.

Now we can see post Time Skip, that the Army of Light has absorbed the remains of the Jedi Order, and they now hold the title of _________.

The Direction of the Current Jedi

The Jedi have persisted through countless challenging times. One of the most defining, was the bombing of Tython. The event placed a heavy burden on every force user that stretched out to the furthest corners of the galaxy. Other difficult trials and tribulations were faced by the individual. Every Jedi has their own path to follow. And each one is not without its burdens.

The life of a Jedi is far from glamorous. It is a commitment that only gets heavier the longer you immerse yourself in Its business. For some, this is easier to handle than others. Some crack under the pressure of war, and some suppress it until the very end. Being a Jedi is unsavory work. It can be grim, and trying, and at some point, it is common for characters to weigh out what they are trying to attain, versus the cost.

You may be starting to understand what I am getting at. The Jedi aren’t good. They aren’t bringers of light and joy. They are a wave of mass destruction in the galaxy, just like the other main factions. They are participating in battle, and doing exactly what they must do to attain their goals.

With the Time Skip, we would like to really focus on this aspect of the Jedi. The washed over, grey concept. The Jedi are moving in a darker direction.

For instance, we are leaning towards the version of the Jedi Code,“Emotion Yet Peace.” A notion suggesting balance. Which is a lot less black and white than “There is no Emotion, there is only Peace.” At this moment in time, our characters have choices, and they are expected to balance them out. The code is not so stringent as to say there can be no emotion. Instead, they welcome emotion with an equal dose of peace.

The Jedi Code that each youngling was taught as they began training, has been stretched over time, to meet the demands of their war. They have become aggressive, and cold. Seeing the world as much more complex than right or wrong.
