Dromund Kaas, Imperial academy
2342 local time
Luc peered down at his datapad again as he walked. He had read the article correctly, and he knew that, but he needed something to distract him from the nerves as he strolled down the halls of the Academy toward the library. There was a book in the forbidden section about how to use the Force to make one appeae irresistible to others, or so claimed an article on the holonet, and if there was any book the Acolyte cared enough to read, it was definitely that one. He'd waited until late night to make his move, while everyone slept and the librarian was on break, to ensure he didn't get caught, but he couldn't help but have second thoughts. Surely the Empire's security wasn't that lax in its academies, was it? Only one way to find out.
And anyway, what's the worst that can happen? Normally, he would have worried about getting detention, not wanting to upset his parents. Now that they were gone and he was alone, there was no one to get pissed off at him except his teachers, and he didn't give a womprat's ass what they thought of him. If they died two decades earlier from the heart issues his escapades instilled in them, so be it. They were fucking ancient anyway, so it wasn't like he was doing the Galaxy a disservice.
As he reached the doors of the library, he stopped, staring nervously at the door. His heart pounded, his mind racing a mile a second. The library was massive, and he suspected the forbidden section was just as huge, if not bigger. He might not even find the book even if he spent the entire night searching, and he wasn't so sure he could pull this off daily until he found it. What he needed was an accomplice.
An idea dawning on him, he turned on his heel and went back to the dorm.
The next evening, he was sitting at a table in one of the lounges reading something about the nightsisters, his eyes darting over the text on his datapad with surprise. Huh. I didn't know they could do that with their mouths.
Looking up suddenly, scanning the room as if someone could read his thoughts, Luc realized he was almost alone. There was a single other person left, some guy he hadn't met before.
"Hey," he said, cutting the silence. "You doing anything tonight?"
