But if the egg came first what layed it? Last I checked eggs don't just lay themselves from nothing.The current chickens we have today if you are speaking came from an egg with the specific genes to get the certain chicken. If you are talking chickens in general as a species of Bird it was still the egg.

As for the poll I am not voting. I doubt we'll ever know.
Egg.
I'm pretty sure that modern chickens evolved from another specie that was also egg-laying.
But where did that bird come from? An egg? And if so what layed it? And so on and so on. I don't believe the question is meant to just cover the modern chicken. At least that is what I have always though.Something which resembles a chicken but wasn't a chicken, in our sense, perhaps a flightless fat bird with a stubby beak.

But then where did the amorphous blob come from?Well then it came from a underwater breed of beaked sea fowl who were the scourge of the seas and before that an amorphous blob resembling an amorphous blob.
But then where did the amorphous blob come from?
EDIT: I am not doing this to dick anyone around, I believe in evolution. My only hang up is what started it.
But what caused the big bang?It all came back to this;
Energy.
Energy created from the big bang.
Just for the sake of arguing, what caused the big bang? What happened before that? Before that?
EDIT: Lowkey beat me to the punch....
But what caused the big bang?
