Fondor - District 38

Reland clicked on the recorder. He needed to get whatever information he had down for the next person working on this project. He had come two days ago and in that time all of the original team that had worked on the outbreak were dead.

Patients begin coughing within two hours of being exposed to the virus.

He had come with whatever supplies he could scrounge up. He was a Senator but hadn't even begun his career. He had little sway yet so had to rely on his previous ties. It didn't provide enough so they had sent out additional calls for aid.

Difficulty Breathing and Chest Pain develops within 15 hours

They had worked sleeplessly over the last two days as more and more piled in the hospital. Progress was slow, the virus was a tricky thing. He felt like they were close, but he wasn't sure if it would be in time for him.

Patient begins to cough up blood and develops a high fever shortly after.

He coughed again, looking down at his gloved hand, red specs of blood covered the blue glove. He ignored it, he had to keep working.

Patient deteriorates and dies within 48 hours

They exited out of hyperspace, the stars returning back to their pin-holed specks that dotted the black matte of space and before the crew rested the world of Fondor. Arda participated on the journey to deliver kolto in order to see for herself the damage the virus has caused to its victims. It was entirely new and it was aggressive, high contagious and most of the time fatal. The doctors and healers had been working around the clock to help patients, but it seemed as though the virus worked faster than what Kolto could provide; even doubling up the IVs, patients quickly still deteriorated from dehydration and internal hemorrhaging.

Their ship was given clearance quickly, allowing them to land as soon as another ship left the port; someone knocked on the Jedi Master's door, letting her know of their arrival and she nodded, "Very good, get unloaded, protect yourselves too, we can't afford crews coming down with the illness." the soldier nodded and left and Arda wrapped her cloak around her shoulders and exited from the craft. Droids quickly approached, taking the medical supplies that had been delivered and Arda was quickly directed to the director in charge of the operation now, having added the original crew had all passed on in the recent week. It had taken the Jedi a moment to process what that meant but it was as it sounded, the virus was attacking the healthiest also.

She headed inside one of the temporary shelters, Reland Vos was whom she was supposed to meet, knocking before entering, she peeked inside, "Excuse me, I am looking for a Mr. Vos." she said.

Reland was focused in on his work, eyes pouring over scan reports of the virus looking for anything that might fight back against the virus, or at the very least combat it enough to extend the time they had to fight it.

His eyes went blurry causing a wave of dizziness to wash over him. He stood up straight, placing both hands down on the desk to balance himself. It passed quickly enough but it served as a reminder that he was on the clock. He had a day at most before he would be too sick to continue and another day or so after that before he would be dead.

He rubbed at his eyes, about to get back to work when he heard a quiet knock on the door as a woman poked her head in. He made sure she was wearing something to protect the illness to spread to her, at least immediately as they had been unable to keep people unexposed for long. Ah, yes. You must be Ms. Breaux? Or is it Master Breaux? I am afraid I don't know how to properly address those of your Order." he said taking his glasses off and placing them down on the table in front of you.

He went to continue talking, but another round of coughing rocked his body. He held a cloth up to his mouth. Several seconds passed until to painful fit passed. He tried to ignore the specs of blood on the cloth before disposing of it. "I thank you for coming, I am afraid not many were willing to take the risk to do so." he said turning back to the data screens on one wall.

"Do you have any medical experience?" he asked the woman.

He didn't look like he was doing well, she could feel he was weak through the ripples of the Force, though she could easily tell he has slept very little, or he could have been exposed to the virus. He addressed her with a few titles before admitting uncertainty, "Arda, is fine." she told him, giving him permission to use her first name as he went into a coughing fit and Arda knew he was sick. This was worse than she had expected. He continued though, thanking her for arriving and inquired if she had medical experience; the Jedi woman raised her eyebrows, "Some." she admitted, uncertain of how saying her credentials included Force healing, not many individuals were familiar with the Jedi techniques and she had met more skeptics in the core than believers lately.

"You're sick though, you should be resting." she told him walking further into the room as she looked at the screens, "I was told the people are dying quicker than they can get kolto." explained Arda, "The first team that was working on a vaccine have all died so far, how much time do you have, Senator?" she asked him and then paused before moving onward to a subject not focused on him.

"I am here to help in any way I can, too many people are dying, what do we need to do in order to find a cure for this thing?" Arda asked folding her arms in front of her.

He nodded. "Well, its a pleasure, Arda." he said as she entered. She said she had some medical experience which meant she likely had none. Regardless, their supplies would be invaluable, if not for him, for those that would come after him.

"I'd rather not spend my last day laying around some bed. I can help, for now." he said as looked at the screens. He tapped the small data pad in front of him bringing up an outline of a human that simulated the growth of the virus. A small timeline above the figure displayed the time it took for the virus to run its course. "Its one of the most aggressive viruses I have ever seen. That is what makes it especially hard to find a cure. The doctors are dying before any real progress can be made." he said as the outline went black, indicating total organ failure.

He thought about how she could help. "Well, I need new samples from out in the quarantined zone. Our samples are a couple of days old and I need to know how the virus is mutating." he said.

"Its dangerous out there though. This was already a rough neighborhood but not those who haven't succumbed to the virus have turned to violence to steal what they want." he said, hoping she would have an idea on how they could get out there. He wasn't any help in a fight on his best day, and now, he would be an even bigger burden but he knew what they needed, and there wasn't anyone else left to go.

Arda turned her attention the screen as he explained what was happening, it was worse than she had first heard it to be; and it made her entirely uneasy knowing doctors were dying before anything could really be done about the disease. He explained how she could help and she frowned knowing he was on the verge on taking a turn for the worst, but was committed to doing as much as he could before he reached that point. The danger did not worry her, though she worried more about his safety; the violence and looting didn't surprise the Jedi, it could cause them problems, but hopefully they would not draw attention to themselves.

"Tell me where we need to go and I will see that we get there and get out without trouble." she told him placing her hands on her hips as she waited for his response, "I just want to make sure you are truly up for this, Mr. Vos, I know you're ill and this could weaken the body further, leaving you incapacitated ..." her voice trailed, unwilling to say for the remains, days or even hours he had left, she wondered how much she could do in preserving his life, giving him extra time through the application of the Force.

"Where do you need to pull samples from?" she asked him, pulling her comm to instruct her crew to head on out once they were finished unloading supplies; they would be in their own quarentine for several days before returning home, but the last they needed was to spread the virus off-world.

Reland spent a moment gathering several pieces of equipment he would need to collect the samples and placed them into a bag.

"This may very well be the last chance we get to get good samples before things get too bad out there." He said placing the last items into the bag, having to stop and let another coughing fit pass.

"Besides, I'm already sick, so I am not sure anything out there can make my situation any more dire., He said heating the bag.

"Plus, why would I let myself miss an opportunity to see a Jedi at work." He said with a weak grin as they made their way out.

"If we can get ten or so samples from those who don't appear sick, that would give us plenty." He said as he left the room. He had heard there were groups of people not affected by the plague; Reland hoped that wasn't just rumor. Otherwise, they were out of options.

The Jedi still wished to object him coming with, she knew his time was limited, but it had to be the Mandalorian warrior in him that kept pushing for victory, if not for him, but for those who will need it the most. She watched as he packed his bag in order to properly collect samples, a coughing fit forced him to pause, but he pressed on, and if Arda wasn't mistaken, she thought she heard some flattery from the Mandalorian Senator. Arda smiled and lead the way to a speeder they could use, waiting for him to get in and get situation, Arda took off to the area of the quarantined; it was nearly impossible to keep everyone in place in such a big city as on Fondor, but to Arda's surprise, they have been well cooperative in keeping away from those who have been exposed and who are sick.

Leaving the speeder safely outside the quarantined zone, the Jedi pulled her hood over her head to shadow her face from onlookers, the overhead skies rumbled and Arda frowned as raindrops slowly began to fall. "Ten samples...shouldn't be too difficult..." she said helping Reland cross the barrier, hoisting him over the wall and then made her way to the other side herself, "Any idea on where to start?" she asked him looking up and down the quiet street.

It was more like a ghost town than what someone would believe to be a quarantined zone, certainly there was something heavy in the air that the rain seemed to only make worse.

He wasn't much a fan of being thrown over the wall, but caught ahold of the top before lowering himself down as gracefully as someone in his position could. "That..." he paused waiting for the Jedi to land "was quite the throw," he commented as he straightened his white coat that was already dirtied by his encounter with the wall. He had heard the Jedi could pull off incredible feats of strength, but to witness in person was something else entirely.

"Well, last I heard, the was rumors about a group of thugs that found some way to survive the plague and have taken control over this entire area. Though that could be a rumor, we haven't received a good report from this area since the walls went up." he said as he scanned the desolate streets.

"Let's go this way." he said pointing in a seemingly random direction. He was guessing, but that's all he had at this point unless Arda had some other trick up her sleeve.

As they progressed, they saw the occasional person dart across the street but none were close enough to them, by the time they made it where they were seen the people had disappeared, to scared to make contact with anyone else.

Arda's enthusiasm could be seen leaving her face as he explained the rumors he heard about thugs who controlled the area. Her senses reached out to feel for any unwelcome eyes on them as the Senator scanned the area too, "Its the best lead I think we have right now." she frowned, knowing she was not liking it as much as him. He decided on a direction, pointing the way and Arda gave him a look, however, she couldn't say much, her own senses were not giving them much of a direction either. Besides, as newbies who just hopped the wall, someone probably did have their watch on them - outsiders wanting inside a death box.

Cautiously they moved onward, the streets were eerily quiet and when they did see someone they would quickly disappear. They couldn't keep up this game, time was limited and Arda knew the senator was on borrowed time. The grandmaster sighed as they missed the person once more, she scratched her head trying to think and instead of just walking further on their directionless path, she decided to take to the person who seemingly disappeared.

"C'mon," she said leading into the ally, letting her senses pull her as she placed her trust in the Force to help them find someone who knew where they could get the samples for the Senator.
