Personality

Thaddeus is a man of strong convictions, and who believes in right and wrong. He believes in having honor and integrity, and that there are some things that one just doesn’t do. Surprisingly, as a Mandalorian he is nice enough, and hardly that abrasive, but he sticks to his beliefs and displays and unyielding and uncompromising perspective regarding right and wrong which others can find off-putting. Thaddeus prefers to try and keep his enemies alive if possible, but he also is a Mandalorian who has no compunctions about killing. With his training, Thad often seeks out adventures and challenges so he might feel the thrill of testing himself and overcoming them. Mostly, Thad is just a good man in an uncaring Galaxy trying to do the right thing.

As a Mandalorian, Thad has been trained in the ways of his clan since childhood, and was bathed in combat before his sixteenth birthday. He is a proficient fighter, and absolutely confident in his skills and what he is able to do. This gives him a slight cockiness and arrogance to him, but Thad also knows his own limitations, though given the right challenge he may even disregard these to succeed.

Thad is fiercely independent, as most Mandalorians are, and hates what has become of the Mandalorians, believing they have become no better than dogs or slaves, following blindly and unquestioningly. He believes that Mandalore must recall the taste of freedom, and rebel against its current rule. But until that happens, he had determined to make his own path, his own future, apart from Mandalore and his people. In much the same manner, though, he does not believe in slavery, and believes everyone has a right to choose and their own agency.

Biography

Thaddeus Vizsla was born on Mandalore in what was a small farmhouse somewhere in his clan’s holdings to a pair of humble farmers whose fighting days were long behind them. As soon as Thaddeus had learned to walk and speak, he began his schooling. Though this schooling was different than what one might expect on Alderaan or Corellia. Thaddeus was born into a Mandalorian clan, and that meant he would be trained as one of their warriors. In addition to his regular schooling, learning to read and write, learning numbers and math, Thad was immersed in the art of war. His family taught him how to use a blaster, how to swing a sword, how to turn his own body into a deadly weapon. During his training, his father instilled into him the concept of honor and the notion that he should act according to his conscious. These early lessons would have a great impact on the young Vizsla as he grew and became stronger. He would learn of the history of the Mandalorians, of the great clans and of their traditions. Thaddeus was proud to be a Mandalorian, proud of his culture and his heritage.

When he was thirteen years old, Thaddeus' father took him out on a hunting expedition where the young Mandalorian killed a massive white wolf on his own using the skills he learned as a hunter and tracker from his parents. Bringing the beast back home, the family skinned it and gave the pelt to Thaddeus to use as his own memento mori. At the age of fifteen he fought off some raiders from a neighboring clan who had come to attack their village. The battle was intense and bloody, if somewhat short. It was a night attack, the enemy clan had hoped to catch the Vizslas by surprise, but scouts from clan Saxon had alerted the village to the attack and the Vizslas were ready for it. This was Thad's first taste of battle, the ferocity and terror that it brought with it, as well as the adrenaline and the thrill one felt from making it out alive. Despite his youth, Thaddeus proved himself and was noted by many in his clan for his tenacity and ferocity. Many lost their lives, and by dawn, the enemy clan had retreated back home, sufficiently weakened to prevent reprisals. On his white, grey, and black Mandalorian armor, Thad drew a wolf head howling up at the moon, Concordia.

Thaddeus would serve his house and his clan for many years with distinction, learning how to pilot fighters as well as tinker and repair them. During this time Thad would head out into the Galaxy, sometimes on his own, but usually in the company of a friend from his clan or an allied clan. It made for good adventuring as Thaddeus met knew peoples and learned their languages as well as their fighting styles. It was a good time for him, and he experienced much. However, the recent defeats of the leaders of clan Vizsla and clan Kryze to an outsider allied with the Sith was an unexpected turn of events that left Thaddeus feeling lost. Whoever this leader was, this Leviticus, he was no true Mandalorian. He did not understand them or their ways, all he saw was a weapon to be wielded, to be used. Mandalorians were no weapons, and they did not serve anyone except the leaders of their clan, their house, and Mand'alor. As far as Thad could tell Leviticus was simply just another magic-wielding dog of the witch who led that rebel faction of Jedi. His complete disregard for their ways and their customs was an affront to all Mandalorians. Defeating their leaders in single combat did not make one a worthy leader, one who deserved their loyalty, despite what the ancient traditions said. An outsider could never rule Mandalore. Any magic-wielder could not be trusted, and as far as Thaddeus was concerned, lacked any semblance of honor. Seeing his brothers and sisters willingly follow such a despicable dog made Thaddeus hate his people and what they had become; dogs of war, just like the one who led them now.

So, Thaddeus left Mandalore, and he left his armor behind, buying a ship from a retired merchant, he left the planet taking only what few weapons he had with him, his wolf pelt, and his body. Thaddeus Vizsla was no longer Mandalorian, for they had dishonored themselves by following an outsider blindly. He would make a new name for himself out amongst the stars until the day that Mandalore shakes off its shackles, and remembers its pride and honor again.

Skills & Gear

Hand-to-Hand Combat: Thaddeus is a master of hand-to-hand combat, having learned several different styles of martial arts and empty-hand fighting. The Mandalorian has a very fluid and fast style, using his whole body, including powerful kicks and hand strikes. He is also looking to learn new and interesting forms of combat in order to expand his repertoire.

Vibrosword Combat: Having trained with a number of weapons since a young age, Thaddeus knows his way around a vibrosword, and can quite easily use one to dispatch most opponents, though it is not his preferred method of combat, he keeps a weapon by his side, just in case he requires its use in a duel.

Blaster Combat: Using a blaster is Thaddeus' preferred method of fighting, and he has become a bit of an expert with the pair of pistols that he owns capable of performing spinning tricks and impressive quick draws. Given the proclivity of blaster technology in the Galaxy, Thad also prefers to use blasters to keep an edge on opponents who mean to do him harm.

Languages: Thaddeus speaks or understands Mando'a, Basic, Huttese, Bocce, Ryl, and Binary

Gear: Two(2) CSR-2A Blaster Pistols with six spare power packs, Standard Vibrosword, DG-10 Dueling Gloves, Spacer Clothes, 820-Series Light Freighter, White Wolf Pelt

My only real comment here is that Mandalorians really haven't started to form into houses as of yet. They are still split up into pretty fragmented clans. If you could edit the few mentions of them out , everything else is good to go. I'll go ahead approve since its minor and doesn't really affect the character's story.

Umm... alright. I've edited out the house references, but perhaps you should talk to Deviant and Malon about there being no Mandalorian houses as they just did a plot thread about taking over House Vizsla and Kryze.

@Raydo: Mandalorians definitely have houses. In canon, the ancient Houses are Kryze and Vizsla, and all the clans fall under those branches. The write-up for this timeline mentions clans and not Houses, but there is an acknowledgement of a clan/family-based society. So, in this case, it's okay for there to be mentions of Mandalorian Houses, as long as it's those two. Any others would need a writeup.
