...Concord dawn...
the edge of the mandalore sector
1300 hours

Home.

Well, as close as a tepmuart can consider to be home, the nomadic armorer and merchant, Rue Tepmuart flew as she had her ship passively scanned by the protectors who flew next to her on her lane, mostly just for contraband signatures, to make sure she was bringing a kriffing nuclear bomb or something onto the planet, after all, there was very little that was actually banned on the planet, as well as her ship being well, a minotaur armed freighter, which did require more produdence when it came to landing, and besides one incident where some seller tried to sell a makeshift bomb from a hyperdrive, almost anything went as long as one played by the rules here, the rules of the concord dawn trading bazar, which was The twins prowling grounds, especially clan Tepmuart's, to the point where some even considered them as much of a part of the trading post as the great alors that reigned over mandalorian space did in their individual capitals, which was not far from the truth, as the first tepmuarts did indeed have a hand in the posts creation, which is why they had a forge there, it was as much their clan grounds as it was a open bazar for their fellows to conduct much needed trade.

Some may have considered a "weak" task, best left to the feeble, the failures, but as their
clan song stated, the tepmuarts were none of these, they were zealous explorers, proud smiths, traders, brave hearted farmers, they were determined survivors, who had fallen, and risen from the ashes countless times, much like the fields of the farmland they tended to, and Rue would be damned if she let the tepmuart forge and the trading center that surrounded it go cold for a second time, the forge had not gone cold since the day of their founders death long ago, and she would be damned if she let it happen on her watch, the fires were stoked once more upon her landing. Some fellow tepmuarts began to unload the freighters goods, the twins carried their homes, and by extension, their stocks, on their ships, as rue now opened the forge for business amidst the market.

She opens a crate, setting krayt hunting bows, brand new toys, and rue had made a nice deal to purvey these babies into mandalorian space, and boy oh boy was she gonna do just that.

Inside the bazaar a crimson armored warrior strolled around. He had been in Mandalore Space for the past few rotations. Needless to say it’s been eventful. Through the t-visor he looked around and smiled seeing all the vode present. Armorers hammering away at metal, several vendors behind their stalls bargaining with buyers.

Some of the latter just looked around and moved. Laughter erupted behind Tal Kaja; he side-stepped out of the way, letting a trio of Mandalorian children run past with the two behind chasing the one in front. Tal chuckled and thought.

It was like yesterday that me and my siblings played similar games when we weren't training.

Resuming his walk he glanced back and forth, searching for something of interest. Two minutes later he came upon Rue’s forge. He also had some others taking care of cargo nearby as well before focusing on the forge again. Seeing what was laid out Tal paused. To the armorer he nodded and asked.

“Greetings vod. How much credits for one of those bows?”

Rue hadn't seen the red armored mandalorian approach, as she was ducking down to set something up under her desk, she heard -

“Greetings vod. How much credits for one of those bows?”

Rue popped her head up from her desk, standing upright, first customer of the day, time to get to work!

<"Ah, these things my freind? These are known as the Krayt "Hunting" Bows, new development, I managed to procure some when they were released to sell in mandalorian space. Before I sell this to you, you best know what you're buying, this puppy is essentially a sniper rifle with a max range of 400 meters, Each shot has a windup of around a second, so dont expect it to do well in QCB, unless you slap a secondary function, which you can add to the under barrel, either a pistol or bayonet, just dont expect to be able to fire both the bow and the pistol at the same time." >

Rue would unfold the crossbow, switching it on to demonstrate how it works, pointing to its specifics and build as she spoke.

<"They're relatively silent tho, and hit hard, I would say base price without attachments and ammo would be about.. 2500 credits, around the same price I bought traded em for, if you want ammo cells ill do 20 credits per pack, ten shots per pack, the pistol function is an additional 100 credits, but it's worth it I would say. The crossbow comes with a high power thermal scope, but you can change it out if you wish on your own time, also, just know that this weapon is gonna require a special licensing if you bring it to more milquetoast worlds like the core.">

<"Relatively silent huh?"> Hauron's voice was slightly muffled by his helmet as usual. The Forge Master stood behind the Tal but soon walked up alongside him to get his own eyes on this non-wookiee energy crossbow. His tone made it clear he was skeptical of a blaster that was 'silent' since he had only come across slug throwers and the occasional nightstinger blaster pistol capable of being close to quiet. Then again, maybe Rue was lying to try and upsell her gear.

<"How are you doing, Rue? You haven't melted that hammer down yet."> He jutted his chin in the weapon's direction. But the woman liked to have her reminders otherwise she probably would have gotten a prosthetic eye by now.

Hauron had visited Concord Dawn and now returned on business. He had recently been studying more of Death Watch's history and after meeting their descendants on Ord Mantell, had learned about a connection to Concord Dawn. While he was in the neighborhood he decided to stop by and see what trade there was between the different Mandalorian groups. Rancor Squadron patrolled Mandalorian space regularly and had flights of fang interceptors keeping tabs on any threats to Mandalorians and their worlds.

The Forge Master had brought some of his own creations on his ship but had yet to set up shop anywhere. He left most of the arms dealing to the Ord Mantell Mandalorians and people like Rue. For now he was just window shopping and trying to immerse himself in the culture of Concord Dawn.

<"eep!>

Oh dear, rue knew that voice all too well, a voice of a good friend indeed, still, it was enough to startle the poor smith, fumbling the energy crossbow but catching it at the last second with a sigh.

"<Hauron, hello! you didn't tell me you were coming to concord dawn, I would have taken the time to say hello!">

she would ponder what the forge master said for a moment, frowning slightly under her helmet in thought.

<"well, more than a normal blaster at least, so yes, relatively, from what i've been told its akin to a energy bow, perhaps a little louder due to the machinery, but you probably wont be hearing it for miles, of course, that is the assumption, I will confess I have yet to test these puppies in the field other than to make sure they actually work.> She would now roll her eyes under her helmet at the remark about her hammer, yet she couldn't help but smile a little bit. < noooo I sold it to jawas after I used it to dig a shallow pit, then threw it into a rancors stomach for good measure, of course I wouldn't melt that thing down, its my pride and joy!">

she spoke sarcastically of course, chuckling lightly, nodding to the red mandalorian.

<"I apologize, Ill be with you in a moment, why don't you think a moment while I see what the forge master wants, wouldn't want you regretting your purchase.">

she now turned to Hauron, resting her chin on her palm as she tapped her free fingers on the stand with her other hand.

<"And to what do I owe the pleasure of rancor squadrons leader arriving on this blasted half of a rock?">

Tal Kaja was processing all that information. It was intriguing to say the least. Although the young warrior began to hesitate especially at the price and other considerations. He already had pistols. As much as Tal enjoyed extra weapons the fact is the bow sounded like something he wasn’t used to handling.

Mandalorians are expected to be masters with weapons. But this type of bow was unfamiliar to him.

Perhaps with time I could adapt to that…

His thoughts were interrupted with the arrival of the next Mandalorian. He stepped back in shock which was hidden by his helm though any keen observer can note it. Quickly he recognized him as the Forge Master from rotations ago. Unexpected but an honor all the same to see him again. Turning to the more surprised smith he looked on, realizing they knew each other.

At Rue’s request he nodded in understanding before taking another few steps back and let them continue the conversation. As much as Tal wanted to give his reply and ask about different weapons but that can wait. He will not be the type of annoyed shopper that some in this galaxy they refer to as a Karen.

Hauron liked his personal freedom and privacy which was why he did not broadcast his movements. Being the group leader of Rancor Squadron meant he was his own boss and answered to no-one. So making a trip to Concord Dawn on a whim was a simple act for someone like him.

The Forge Master listened to the fellow smith go into more detail about the energy crossbow. The weapon was interesting at least but the Solus had his doubts on its effectiveness for his own personal preferences. He held his tongue on making any further comments and allow Rue to try her best at selling the weapons.

The snark he garnered was deserved and earned a huffed laugh. From what the Tepmuart had said in their last meeting on Mandalore she had some reservations about the beskar hammer and its connection to her deceased kin. How she spoke about it now indicated her feelings had evolved since that day. He decided to not push the subject further.

<"You could say I'm looking at property. The Squadron needs a base of sorts in the system and I haven't had the chance to interact with people from Concord Dawn very much. Plus there might be a few comrades looking to join up if given the chance."> There were old records of a Solus base on one of the three moons of Concord Dawn. Furthermore, stories of a Fen Rau and his Mandalorian Protectors had a similar area of operation. There were still a small group of self-appointed Mandalorian Protectors but they were different from the retinue honor guard responsible for guarding Mand'alor.

<"Would you happen to know where I might find them?"> He asked both Rue and Tal. Aside from the occasional patrol of independent fang fighters he had not seen many of their number. So far they had been amicable towards Rancor Squadron but that did not mean they were friendly towards the mercenary company.

<"Ahhh now that's the difficult part now is it! lot of concordians are nomadic nowadays, even if they 'live' on the planet itself, the warriors amongst us are usually on the move quite often, the only people who really settle down are the craftsmen and farmers as typical, or to run places such as this, but the protectors have a few outposts here and there to keep order, but lucky you, my clan used to run with them before... well.. you know.. so you came to the right mandalorian.">

Rue held her tongue in front of the other mandalorian, after all, there was very little need to discuss her story with a stranger present, it still hurt a little to think about it, but rue had at the very least found some semblance of peace and acceptance with what had happened to the twins, what was done was done, at the very least she could help out her new friends to the best of her ability, but Rue was Rue, and she couldn't help but give her friend a rough time.

<"Now now Mister forgemaster, you should know my services aren't free, and my rates quadrupled now since you startled me! Which should tally to a grand total of zero credits!"> She would pretend to give a moment of thought, like hell she would actually charge him, but it made rue chuckle to tease, she would feign an exasperated sigh, to show she was joking. <"They should have a little outpost about... northeast of here, ran into them while I was flying over for a basic check protocol due to my ship, they should still be around there unless they've already moved on.">

Rue felt her signature cough now beginning to come up, but after their little session at the citadel, rue had been working on tending to the issue, mostly out of spite, lying down and dying type her ass! it was a process, and it was going to take a bit, but hey, she wasn't struggling to contain them anymore, just a simple short cough, and she was back to normal, she didn't even need to remove her helmet to avoid getting blood on the visor, so.. progress!

The Forge Master was glad to hear the Armorer's willingness to help. She joked with the young Mikkian and she almost had him thinking for a moment that she was actually going to charge him. But she saved herself from a snarky quip in return. The news of the the Concord Dawn Protectors was good and brought a smile to his hidden face but he made sure to nod visibly in approval. <"Thank you. That's a lot of help, sister.">

He knew of one group of mandalorians that stayed in one place, or at least they used to. <"What about the Orar Da Yadyr? Have you ever heard of them?"> They used to have a network back before the Mandalorian civil war. Before Darth Raze had come to Mandalore and demanded they select a Mand'alor and obey the Sith. But a lot had happened since then. Their mountain top base could be holding strong or perhaps in a worse for wear condition. Both he and Rue would have been children when the ODY lost public favor. It would make sense if the Tepmuart had not heard of them. Even the most brazen Mandalorians still usually had the sense to be cautious.

<"sister..">

Rue would ponder that word for a moment, it felt odd, foreign.. of course she had no issue with it but it.. it stung a little.. like an old barb, it reminded her of the only regret she still clung to, not saving him.

The one meant to be her other half.. maybe if they are reborn somewhere in their next life.. she could succeed, bring him home.. or take his place, give him the chance to live, and die like he SHOULD have. It shouldn't be her, she was the selfish one, the coward of the family, the arrogant one, Cremek should be here instead, laughing with them all.. making terrible jokes to annoy little feifi.. mayhaps... she could meet her fellow wyrmling under the bluest of skies in her next life.. until then, only in her dreams.. god.. what she wouldn't give to hear him laugh again.. god.. she remembers how often they would compete like bitter rivals for even the slightest bit of approval, man their bickering was legendary, she would get so mad at his jaded determination.. huh.. funny.. that's the part she misses most about him nowadays, he refused to yield.. even if it was a death march, one his mind was set, there was no backing down..

She quickly shook her head, refocusing upon the forge masters question. Orar Da Yadyr... now that was a new one..

<"'fraid not.. do elaborate, who were these Orar Da Yadyr?..">

If there was one trait that both her and.. the man she USED to call brother shared, it was that hunger, a desire, a greed for knowledge, to learn, to understand, to be "all knowing." an impossible task, but one they strived for nonetheless, a trophy forever out of reach..
