DESCRIPTION
The Tau-7 was originally designed years ago as an extension to the A-Wing line of starfighters before it was ultimately archived at the end of the last major war in the Galaxy. Without a need for the more specialized version of their strike fighter, KSE shelved the design and focused instead on other pursuits until the corporation went under. The design was bought by KDY along with many other assets of the former company. If it were not for a combination of escalating tension and emerging competitors in the starfighter market, the Tau-7 would have likely stayed locked up in the office archives of the KDY.

With governments across the Galaxy beginning to focus on external and internal threats on to a greater degree than they had for almost a century, KDY picked the designs out of storage and updated them for the modern era. Focusing on the same two characteristics that made the old A-Wing designs so popular, the Tau-7 is both wickedly fast for a ship it's size but it's handling is similar to a fighter of a smaller size.

The compromise for this improved handling, however, was sacrificing the ability to launch missiles as much of the space that would have been used for the launchers was instead used to house the S-Foils that the Tau-7 is equipped with. As they did on the X-Wings before the Tau-7 was designed, the S-Foils grant the ship greater maneuvering characteristics both in atmosphere and in space.

In place of the lighter weapons of their other fighters, the Tau-7 was also equipped with medium laser cannons to assist the fighter in taking on a wider array of enemies. For when faced with ships with greater shielding, the ion cannons come into play to try and cover the loss of explosive stopping power lost by the lack of launchers.

LEGALITY
Restricted. As a starfighter, they are subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
Intent is to give Kuat Systems Engineering a heavier fighter that can fill the same niche as some competitor's ships (Such as Blackwell Drivework's Starblade) and serve as a more modern fighter than their A-Wing models now that it has been several years since their latest model.

RESTRICTIONS
Unable to be modified with after-market addons. The Tau-7 has also only fairly recently started production, limiting their numbers.

So, something to mention: Kuat Systems Engineering basically ceased to exist shortly after the Clone Wars. If you want to keep that as the manufacturer, I'd maybe include something about KDY reviving the division, or something like that.

Changed the manufacturer and added in a bit to the details about how the designs were acquired by KDY
