PERSONALITY:
Usually quiet, Tarvik Harkonne is often both vehement and forceful when he does speak, which, combined with his large build, makes him hard to ignore when he wants to command attention. He carries himself very aloof, sometimes seeming arrogant, but he is actually very compassionate and caring of others. He holds a great respect for those more powerful than himself, be that power martial prowess, political clout, or even mastery of the Force. He even admits to have a respect for the Sith, though he does not advocate their actions. Very open minded to others, he tries his best to be respectful and knowledgable of others, often overly cautious in unusual circumstances, lest his actions be taken for rude.

HISTORY:
Born the first and only child of an unknown family, he was orphaned when his parents disappeared during his infancy. What happened to them is still a mystery to Tarvik.

Growing up in an orphanage, young Tarvik grew quickly, by far the largest child of his age, which led to others viewing him with a mixture of awe and fear. While defending himself from a mouthy young boy one evening, the young Tarvik struck the smaller child, breaking his nose, and landing Tarvik a beating. Realising for the first time the power his shear size had over the others, he was at first tempted to abuse this, to take what he wanted, but the more he thought of it, the more he knew that he would hate such a fate for himself, and he knew he could not subject any others to it. Deciding instead to protect the smaller children, he rejoined his fellows with a sense of duty, of belonging.

For many years, into his adolescence, Tarvik's self-appointed duty was for naught, as the peaceful life of the children required no protection from one another, and the occassional problems of the youths were resolved quickly. Yet a while after his sixteenth birthday, the young man was drawn into an arguement with an older boy, one who challenged Tarvik's attitude as "protector" as nothing more than lordship. Angered that his noble duty would be so badly viewed, the young Tarvik tried to argue his defense, only to be met by rudeness and dismissal from the others.

Shaken that he could be seen so badly, he was unsure of his place after the confrontation, but within a day the same boy struck another child in a heated arguement, and to the fray lept Tarvik, who lashed out and punched the attacker. A fight began, and Tarvik, being the younger boy and a stranger to violence, took a pounding, a beating that only ended when, crying with rage, he lashed out with all his strength, wanting only to see the other boy hurt and broken. His fist connected with the boy's throat. The boy died.

Expelled but not charged, Tarvik was told he was lucky, but to himself he felt disgusted. He did not truly wish for the other boy to die, and he was shocked of what he did. Living in the gutters, he grew alone, too afraid to rejoin society, until one day he was set upon by a pair of thugs, who sought to rob him. Fighting back, Tarvik's size was to his asset, and his harsh life had forged a strong, hulking frame. But what made this fight significant was that when he wrestled the larger of the two men, he pushed with his might, and wished the man to be gone, and to his surprise the man flew away, slamming hard into the far wall. Scared and stunned, the men fled, leaving a confused Tarvik in their wake.

Thinking back to the stories of his childhood, he recalled the stories of the Jedi, and of the Force. Seeking both an answer to his questions, and a place to belong, Tarvik set out to find the Jedi, and consult thir wisdom.
