SZALOR THRASK

Sith Empire ♦ Fifty Three ♦ Barabel Male

  • On a superficial level, Szalor is a simple creature lacking in both subtlety and charisma whose only real skill in life is hurting others. Beneath this callous facade however, he's intelligent, cunning, methodical and passionate about his duties. Given to the Sith as a child to be raised as a gladiator, Szalor adapted surprisingly well to the rigors of his new life, honing his skills against rival gladiators and aspiring Sith alike in brutal bloodsport.

Despite scraping a less than respectable living from the dirt and grime of the arenas and fighting pits across Sleheyron, his owner - a Sith Lord named Radik - saw to it he was well cared for.

While their relationship was strictly professional, and Radik was no gentile master, Szalor came to develop a grudging sense of respect for the man. He admired him both as a warrior and an intellectual and strove to equal his prowess, though secretly despised his use of the Force. In a very general sense, Szalor came to view the Force as a crutch, finding such chicanery dishonorable and unbecoming of true warriors.

Following Radik's death, Szalor parlayed his skills into the Imperial military, joining the Army, where his talents secured him a reputation as a brutal and efficient solider.

Unfortunately, his skills and dedication could only get him so far. With the strong humano-centric culture which permeated the Imperial Republica, Szalor was ultimately assigned to a distant backwater in the Outer Rim, far from anything resembling opportunity. To most career soldiers, such an assignment would be the death knell for their military aspirations. Yet Szalor, who sought neither praise nor accolades for his work, embraced the lawless Outer Rim as fertile grounds upon which he could further test his mettle and sharpen his skills.

With the ever turbulent tides of war sweeping across the Empire, however, it seems only a matter of time before Szalor finds himself swept up in the chaos. Where his allegiances shall ultimately lie, only he can tell.
  • With a broad, robust frame composed of lean muscle and dense bone covered in a thick, scaly hide, Szalor is an intimidating brute who overshadows most around him. He has little trouble overpowering his foes in one-on-one combat and relishes in the act of utterly dominating his competition. Retractable claws and razor sharp teeth only add to his menacing visage, giving him the means to rip and tear at his enemies in the most gruesome ways; often without the need for any kind of melee weapon.

Though he lacks any formal training as a duelist, Szalor's sheer size and impressive upper body strength are what give him an edge in melee combat. He isn't overly agile by virtue of his own girth, but even the most seasoned duelist will find overcoming his physical strength challenging. Having been raised as a gladiator, he has little concept of fairness and is not above using under-handed tactics to dispose of his opponents.

That said, ranged combat is where Szalor truly shines. Despite his upbringing, he developed a certain fondness for blasters and projectile weapons after joining ranks with the Imperial Armed Forces. He prefers heavier weapons and also has some training with explosives, but particularly enjoys setting ambushes. Far from being a simple-minded killer, he possesses a keen tactical mind and is capable of exceptional situational awareness. He's always on the lookout for a good flanking position or hiding spot, and has been known to use his own teammates as bait to lure his enemies into devious traps.

I'm gonna need a personality section, and an explicit mention somewhere of his species, his height, his weight, and his Force Sensitivity.

Height, weight and Force sensitivity (or lack thereof) can now be found in an abbreviation tag attached to the 'Barabel Male' line.

A personality section, however, is not strictly required according to the site's own Character Creation Rules & Guide. In fact, the only mandatory requirement mentioned anywhere is the mention of Force sensitivity.

Additionally, both this character, and this one were recently approved without having clearly defined personality sections.

So the height and weight were requirements that were missed when we updated the guides, they were listed in the basic template as requirements but we forgot to update the guides so thanks for spotting that. Now for personality, if a character sheet is able to portray the personality of the character without an explicit personality section then we don't ask for one. That was the case for the two profiles you mentioned. But if from reading a bio you don't get a feel for the personality then it's within our rights to ask for one. On a first read I didn't get much of a personality from the character besides the first two lines, so I asked for one.

But, what is not cool is putting someone else on the spot by posting links to character sheets and pointing fingers. You could have easily sent those links to me in a PM and asked why those profiles weren't asked for a personality section and you were. If a mod asks for a change that means there is a reason why they are asking for the change, it's not an invitation to act in a childish manner and put others on the spot. In the time it took you to dig through profiles and find other cases to support your argument you could have easily written out the 50 words we need for a personality.

So back to the review, the height and weight would be better mentioned explicitly in the profile somewhere as the reason we ask for them is in case of PvP disputes and expecting a PvP mod or an opponent to know to look for abbreviation tags in a profile is a bit much. But I'll let it pass, as we've mentioned it enough time here that people will now know where to look. I had to dig through the bio to discern his personality and seeing as its such a burden to write one I'll approve this for now.

Approved!
