Emma Lou and I have been trading secrets about things regarding photography (as we share that interest). So I figured we could open up a new thread to all aspiring/hobbyist/successful photographers here in our community to share the vast wealth of knowledge that can be combined by our collective experience.

Post pictures of your gear/kit, and some of the images you've taken! Feel free to leave comments, criticism, or suggestions (including hardware, i.e. filters, lenses).

This is my "big boy", the Canon EOS 600D. Picked it up for a fraction of the RRP cost online, and have loved it ever since. I currently have the following kit for it;
 • 18-55mm lens
 • 55-250mm lens
 • 50mm lens
 • 28-80mm lens w/ 0.25X Fisheye Adapter
 • Manfrotto Compact Tripod
 • KATA Camera Bag

Olympus TG-1 Tough. Shock proof, waterproof, Cassa-proof. This is the little bastard that i use when i go to the river, fishing, etc. Its actually surprised me on how good some of the images have come out.

2006 Toyota Landcruiser Troupe Carrier. Probably the 'staple' vehicle of the Kimberley region. They're utterly everywhere. Not particularly cheap, but a fantastic car. The image was taken a few months back out at Liveringa Station out by their "crocodile" fields.

This is about 3 minutes drive from my house, and gives a great view looking North, with Jarlmadangah (Mount Anderson) off to the left of the picture, and the ol' troopy at the bottom of the hill waiting to take me home! :)

Hey! Truth be told I'm trying to get into photography. After picking up the role of Group Historian for my JROTC unit last year, I found that I really like it. Any tips/pointers for a newb?

Have a big memory card, I guess. Fiddle a lot. I don't really know what makes some of my photos "good", per say, but I know that if you take a hundred shots, you're likely to get a decent one or two. Beyond that, I think an important thing to know is what your camera is capable of. Like... read the instruction manual, and if you're unfamiliar with certain terms i.e. F-stop, or ISO -- find out what it means and how it can affect your shot. Knowing that stuff can turn a regular snap, into a really nice image.

Which rebel is it? T3i, T4i, or T5i?
The 600D i use is the same as the T3i. :)

side note; when using a spoiler tag you need to put a title into it.

See?

See?

T3i. I'm jelly of it. It's also my favorite. The one I usually use for my job is a Kodak Easyshare P880. It does its job easy enough, but it's not as nice as the aforementioned Canon. But it's a durable camera that's easy to use and can survive some of the rougher stuff I'm taking shots of, especially when we're out training with the Marines or the Security Forces. But when we're doing the formal stuff I do prefer quality over durability.

EDIT: And yeahhh. iPod posting and I forgot that imageshack scales down y pictures.

I am currently editing a baby/family shoot and I will post some of those up later.

EDIT: I also have an Olympus Tough. I don't know which model but I have definitely given that thing a beating these last 2 years.

I still have a Canon Rebel however I haven't used it for years. My primary camera was a Canon 50D, but I sold it. I might get back into photography at some point for it was one of my focuses in Pre-AP art in HS. For now I just use my iPhone's camera.

However my favourite things to shoot with are coffee cans! Poke a hole in a coffee can (make sure it still has a lid) and use a piece of electrical tape as the aperture. Granted you're not going to be able to zoom or focus or any thing like that, but quickly put a piece of photosensitive paper and boom! It takes around a few seconds to a minute to capture whatever it is (movement is tricky, still life is best), replace the piece of tape over the hole once enough light has penetrated the paper. I'll post a picture of some coffee can camera shots I've done. If you don't have a dark room to develop your print leave it in the can until you can develop it.

The dark room in my high school was awesome to get into, it had this secret rotating door almost like a government glass tube thingy (those ones you see in movies for ~secret agents~), I always felt like a bad ass going in that room.

I used to play around with sharply contrasted black and white photography.

I took this in France three years ago, I forget which park it was (someone can probably place it for me given obvious landmarks). Nikon D(something), overexposed and other stuff done to it in PS.

I have a second shot that was shot on film and is much, much better that I'll have to scan and find.

I actually tend to like taking pictures of some things, though it's more of a hobby and I'm no where even in the ranks of professionalism. But I do use my new A Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 HS to take pictures.

Just some happy snaps from a few walks I've been on this week - all taken on my Olympus TG-1 Tough... since my fiancé has lost the charger and spare battery to my Canon 600D (Rebel T3i).

I've had my camera for about two years now, a nice Canon Rebel t3 that I adore.

Pictures from 2011/2012 in shitty Facebook resolution!

I won an honorable mention at a local photography contest for this!

D&D minis make good photo subjects.

Pictures from vacation two weeks ago/last weekend!

My husband and our niece!

The pink one isn't mine, I swear.

This picture is a total accident. I went to take pictures in the morning and walked outside our rental beach house and it was really warm and, of course, my lense fogged up. I shoot in raw, so I changed the white balance to tungsten. I thought it looked nifty.

Obligatory CHAIRS WITH BEACH STUFF IN BACKGROUND shot.

I'm still pretty new and it's hard for me to get out and take pictures, but hey! Pictures are pictures!
