Swaying a Squid

Husfi Jadrec has recently left the Empire and moved to Nubia with his large family (Sister, brother in law, nephew, neice, Brother, sister in law, daughter, son in law and granddaughter.). Although he has left Husfi is not 100% sure if he has made the right decision when he left the Empire. So he can be easily swayed to either join the Republic or go back to the Empire.

Will anyone be willing to try convincing this old Mon Calamari to join their side?

Difficulty swaying him will be 5 out of 10.

If I can think of a good reason for my character to be anywhere near him, I'd love to try and persuade him to join The Republic.

Perhaps my shuttle could stop by Nubia on the way back to Teyr from Coruscant.

I think if we put our heads together that we can come up with an excuse for her to pay him a visit and attempt to persuade Husfi to join the Republic.

That could work. Now we just need a reason why she decided to stop by to try persuading him.

It's possible that she might of heard of his defection through the usual gossip she hears back on Teyr. I don't think it'd be too much of a stretch to say that she might try to get in touch with him on the off chance that he even exists, given her convenient arrival.

That is true. She could have heard of him through some gossip going around and thought to investigate. It is not that much of a stretch if she attempts to get into contact with him to see if he really does exist before they meet face to face.

I'm not exactly sure how my character should go about contacting him prior to their meeting, and I'd rather not use happenstance twice. Maybe Lexani could simply follow the rumors, putting her persuasive abilities to use by getting some locals to tell her where Husfi is. To do so I'd need to know a couple of things...

1. Is it possible that some local residents would recognize Husfi as the defecting Imperial ambassador?
2. How well did he keep his arrival on Nubia a secret?

Alright I will do my best to answer them.

1. It is possible that some were able to recognize Huafi as a defecting imperial ambassador either because they kept tabs on happenings or people who worked for the Empire.

2. Well he would have arrived with his family on a public shuttle. So it is possible that it was not as well hidden as Husfi hoped it would have been.

I have looked up Nubia, and historically Mon Calamari did travel to the planet since it is similar to their homeworld and reside there. It is only a small population so it could be a factor in some locals recognizing him and being a bit suspicious of him especially since he was a public figure for quite a long time. You're talking about someone who was doing his job for roughly thirty to forty years so it is possible for some people to recognize him if they were somehow able to watch news broadcasts and other programs he nay have appeared in from Mon Calamari.

I assume you'll create the OP as it mainly pertains to your character's story, and so that you can add some sort of preface, correct?
