SUSTENIA
Name: Sustenia
Coordinates: E11
Climate: hot and humid weather spans the equatorial area of the planet and grows colder as one reaches either of the poles. around the equator there are rain storms which often are slow moving while to the north and south there are more violent storms, eventually turning into fluctuating blizzards over the glacial ice flows at either pole. this is due in part to its lack of axial tilt and almost approximate orbit around it’s system’s sun.
Terrain: being a terrestrial planet composed mostly of jungle and tropical climate always covered in trees of varying types that reach high into the sky. various mountainous regions cover and dot the globe. rolling rain forests cover the northern areas of the continental regions and bordered by marsh like areas that give way to large bodies of water and wide river until they border coasts of open oceans and seas to the north or south where there is nothing but ever changing ice flows freezing and shifting. these offer only relatively small surfaces for the few creatures that lives there to live on.

Inhabitants: the fauna of Sustenia is most noticeably reptilian or amphibian though a great number of avian and insectoid species inhabit the landscape. a few mammals live towards the polar regions in aquatic and land based environments respectively. the insects can be as small as simple waste flies to large carnivorous beetles as large as a big game animals but the reptiles of the jungles are what dominate the landscape and are at the top of the food chain, even he Sustenians are aware of the great carnivorous cousins that share their homeworld.
Sustenians are of course the beings that come to mind when questioned of the inhabitants of the planet of similar name. they of course are the ones that have built the stone cities and temples in the mountainous regions of the planet as well as travel through the wilds of the planet. they are extremely intelligent and hostile towards any invaders that come unwelcome to their homeworld.
Resources: other than the extensive wood that can be seen on the surface of the planet along with rare indigenous flora and fauna that can only be found on the jungle moon. Herbs, spices and game are all kept on planet and it is forbidden to export them off world. The Sustenians have developed a way to craft armor and weapons out of a materials known as Serpent’s Gold and Obstyne as well.

Economy: the economy of the planet has little need for off world commodities and the local economic standard is subsistent hunting and gathering. Sustenians are not strangers to sharing with one another and so often borrow and return many tools or items instead of purchasing or creating something unless necessary.
Culture: based heavily on a meritorious society Sustenians are an isolationists society by nature and believe in self sufficiency and self-sacrifice as well as harmony with nature. paths are taken by each individual from skill in a trade to knowledge and wisdom. when one has mastered or reached a point of experience in their "path" they move on to a different path or quest. since Sustenians don’t die of old age they have two options to either go into suspended animation meditation or go on a “final path” which is little more than a death wish or suicidal glory quest. this happens when a Sustenian has lived for so long or experienced enough to wish to become one with the force and join ancestors in the afterlife.
Technology: though capable of space travel Sustenians have rarely used or made attempt to make contact with outside forces. though it has been explorers that have done this and most often those that seek honor or to enhance their own prowess in combat as mercenaries that venture outwards. these rarely return save to become temple guards or advisors and most often use only traditional gear and leave off world possessions from the surface as well as technology from the planet within the possession of their kin. the secrets of what technology the Sustenians possess are kept within the memories of elder and advisers that stay in hibernation chambers.
Satellites: Sustenia itself is a satellite to the gas giant known as Hapnu, translating roughly to "large lesson" a single moon orbits around Sustenia itself and is called Hapiti which translates to something like "small lesson". A small space station orbits Hapnu where any off worlders must first venture and dock if they wish to travel to the surface of Sustenia.
History: not much is known prior to 1,000,000 BBY though the Sustenians give account of what may be theorised as another species though not confirmed. it was they who taught the ancient ones how to wield their force powers early on. but left the world alone to it’s own devices and chain of events. after 1,000,000 BBY they were left alone completely by any outward race for a great period of time. Sustenians banded together in larger tribes and roamed the jungles. after 500 millenia of this the chiefs gathered together and agreed upon a truce to end the “Time of Wandering”, as it would be known from then on. from that point most of the tribes settled in stationary locations and began forming the cities that they still inhabit to this day.
though they were not united they did come together around 50,000 BBY when an unidentified insectoid species tried to invade the system. it was then that the various founding cities and nomadic tribes banded together and fought off the invasion and nearly wiped out the attackers completely as they had not expected their force related abilities the locals wielded and natural terrain to be so dangerous. the planet itself seemed to defend against the invasion though these are claims by the few oldest of Sustenians who to off worlders are skeptical as to the truth of this statement. the Sustenians refer to the invaders in their own tongue that can only be translated similarly to the Swarm, Locusts, or Scourge.
around 40,000 BBY the united Sustenians reached a point of peace as they were wholly united as a species. they took this time to strengthen their cities and might. they studied inwardly about the force and their own abilities and limitations while their most precognitive members kept their eyes outward to see any potential threats to their livelihood. this was known as the Time of Reflection. they were so well unified together the councils of the cities could shape the landscape and direct the forces of the jungle towards any future invader. it was because of this that some temples and cities are made on "artificial" mountains.
additionally they made great effort to keep their force presence as a species hidden. this was thanks to the construction of the cities. the grid-like special formation of the cities hid the lifeforce of the planet from being sensed by any offworld force as well as special properties of Hapnu that made conventional technology disrupted. though technology such as spacecraft and vehicles could still functions, sensory equipment like navigation computers, communication arrays and probes would malfunction in system. Eventually by 35,000 BBY they learned of a coming conquest over the galaxy through vision from all the temples across the globe simultaniously. as a species they meditated for almost a whole millenia. only temple guards and seasoned wardens stayed themselves from being dormant and even they took decade long shifts watching over their territories as the rest of the species focused on conserving their presence from the rest of the galaxy in such a tremendous time of conquest later learned to be the rise of the Rakata Empire.
around 10,000 years passed the Sustenians stayed ever alert and ready in case their precious system was ever discovered. they had planned if they were discovered by some small fluke then they would awaken and return to their aggressive ways as they had been when faced with the previous invading force. but the attacks never came. the sustenians knew there was no threat to their homeworld any longer and so they returned to their way of life as if it had never ceased. it wasn’t until around 5000 BBY that the planet was discovered by a small exploration ship. the explorers were met with caution but not excessive violence though it was far from peaceful beginnings. the chieftains knew contact with the rest of the galaxy was inevitable and so dozens of Sustenians were hired as mercenaries by the explorers though these Sustenians were considered explorers in their own right. when these few returned decades later they came with ships they had acquired over time. these ships would then take more Sustenians that would act as explorers and mercenaries and this act would continue until present day.

Intent: created as a home world for the Sustenian species. I also wanted to create a place that was isolated by the ravages of time and change of the galaxy and was a place of independence to bring a new look at the galaxy not unlike how various isolated cultures introduced themselves into the known world during times of trouble though instead of getting into the thick of trouble just stay in the background and support or observe unfolding events for the most part. kind of have a "new world" that is ancient but relatively recently introduced to the galaxy.
