Harley Quinn is fine being in it. I would like to see her more independent of the Joker. Since Batman is supposed to be in his 40s and have been Batmanning for quite some time it's reasonable to think Joker has been around as well.

I always found Suicide Squad to be kind of dumb. Secret Six please.

I'm ok with Harkey Quinn in it, but Joker just bums me out tbh. I know that TDK came out 6 years ago, but it still seems too fresh for someone else to be portraying him in live-action. I saw a rumor suggesting that he would only have a small bit in the film, which is even worse. The Joker is too big of a character to waste on such an insignificant movie.

I think its more or less an entry point for the Joker in the DC universe to have people see what this new Joker is like. If Leto gets terrible reception, which I doubt he will as Ive enjoyed him in everything he's done, then they'll probably either recast or let the Joker fade away for a while.

Would be neat if this Joker wasn't THE Joker that we were all used to (some sort of copycat or usurper) and part of the reason Bruce had stopped Batmanning was the Joker threat being in some way permanently dealt with and a sense of "Job's done."

...something about this trailer doesn't sit well with me. Maybe I'm over reacting to it, but it seems like it's trying to be a bit too edgy and dark. Like, its coming off forced. And to me the absurdity of the whole things clashing with how serious they're trying to take things. Also the blue-tinting on everything is kinda annoying.
I think I'm just being salty though. Hopefully this film proves my doubts wrong.

That's unfortunately something we are going to have to get used to with these DC cinematic universe films. Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman, and Suicide Squad all seem to suggest that the future films will have washed out, darker color tones and will be super serious in how they present and take themselves. I agree, in that it makes me a bit discouraged and prone to be more critical of DC for these decisions. I get that they don't want to be accused of being too similar to Marvel, but I would have enjoyed if they took the lighthearted and colorful approach most of the Marvel flicks do.
