Hey, so I want to start a new faction.
Yay.
But I don't want characters who have already joined a faction have to leave their faction to join the one I'm going to create, since it allows all from every walk of life to join.
Because I'm creating the revanites.
Yep.
The revanites.
If you don't know who they are, than you haven't played The old republic.
And that is shameful my dudes.
Shameful.
You see, The revanites follow the teachings and beliefs of darth revan, a legendary sith lord.
And jedi.
OKAY Revan's story is complicated, and it would take me far to long to explain. So I'm just going to cut to the chase and ask my question: if I'm creating an independent faction, do characters that already joined a faction have to leave?
Thanks, I appreciate it.
See you later.

You gotta be careful when making factions, especially force sensitive ones. Because if they don't have an extremely important reason for being in the timeline and they don't have enough interest in them, they will just get flat out denied.

Also they need massive amounts of work to create their own sort of universe to engage potential RPers. Like I can remember last timeline there was a faction called the Waste Rangers. That's quite possibly the apex (in my mind at least, there might have been other awesome ones i wasn't here for) of what an indie faction should be. If you look through the fifth timeline's archives you should be able to find them and see what i'm talking about.

Essentially making a faction isn't a half-assed task.

and now I will let the people who actually know more about this give criticism while i quietly skulk off to do more of nothing

To answer your question. No.

To follow up with a quick note. Revan doesn't exist here.

Aren't you that same person I sent a PM to back in April about how Revan and Nihilus and Sion and Vitiate and all of them don't exist in this timeline? This is new movie canon, man, not the old legends canon. That means you can't use it, plain and simple.

In addition to what Eli has said, the way that the Force now works in the new canon completely negates the possibility of using the Force in the way that Revan and other Grey Knights practiced. I highly recommend you take a good look at Green Ranger's guide for Dark Side Corruption and You.

Ach! The shame of completely forgetting that Disney destroyed star wars!

Oookay, have fun with your opinions while the rest of us wait over here to see what new cool stuff we get now that there's a different canon going on.

Protip: a clean slate can easily be a good thing, and an open mind is always a good thing. =P

Revan is my absolute favorite character from SWtOR, and quite possibly any Star Wars series. If anything, I would like to do an RP with you and roll with any ideas you have.

...It's not fan fiction. It's a separate canon, but believe it or not, it doesn't fall under the realm of "fan fiction." It's still a valid story and still something that a lot of fans like, written by an actual, paid author, and all of that.

And if that's your definition for "ruining Star Wars," then I'd say you had a really shallow view of what made Star Wars "Star Wars" in the first place.

Definition of fan fiction:
NOUN fiction written by a fan of, and featuring characters from, a particular TV series, film, etc.
So if it meets the requirements of ^ it kinda is a fan fiction. I'm not awfully familiar with Revan so I'm just supporting the argument ;)

I mean, officially sanctioned fan fiction, then, I guess, but that's what the comics and books and what-not that they're putting out now would amount to, as well - and that would mean Revan has always been fan fiction. Officially sanctioned and previously non-legends canon fan fiction, but still fan fiction.

So...we're both right.

Yay!

Or, you can do what myself and many others have done, and move on. Yeah, it was a cool story, but there are a lot of cool stories coming out now, and it's not like they took the story and set out to burn every copy of KotOr. Not to mention them doing more for KotOR than Lucasarts did post release with the porting of the game to mobile devices, and updates to KotOR II on Steam.
