So, I just got this because free...so why the hell not?

It barely feels like an MMO beyond the typical ganking of random respawning enemies in wide open areas, it's not nearly as bad I remember it being.

Anyone else playing it these days?

I'm on ' The Progenitor' European server right now, picked a Smuggler out of curiosity.

The game's improved massively since launch.

Unfortunately you picked probably the worst character story.

I still have a subscription, but I've been fairly inactive lately.

Ebon Hawk server. Might get back into this game now that there's all the free stuff offered.

It's alright so far, feels a lot like KOTOR which is weirdly unexpected, it's pretty early on so I could always bow out and choose a different class if I want.

I have no intention of paying any money for it whatsoever though.

The early levels have a nice vibe about them, but later on there are a few worlds that feel especially MMO grindy, unfortunately.

Yeah, once I hit the grind I'll probably just mess around with different classes until I give up.

I have a F2P subscription, but I've only played maybe a half-hour of the game-- not because I don't like it (I'm not one for MMOs anyway due to having to play games by myself for most of my life, but I got the game anyway because it's Star Wars), but because my laptop couldn't handle it without lag. I've been waiting for the chance to get a proper gaming rig before going to play again.

Mine handles it just fine, the lags minor but gets choppy during some random conversations but not a problem.

I like the degree of fluidity there is to the combat, but the grouping system is kinda lame, plus the fact that you have to pay money to alter the appearance of your character is ****ing stupid. I just want to make my dudes hair an inch ****ing longer for christs sake.

I hate in-game transactions like that... I get why it's done for mobile games, but for titles like this? Meeeeeeeeeer...

I feel like more games could benefit more from a League of Legends-esque system where you can buy points to unlock certain things faster, like aesthetic stuff, but otherwise things are free to be obtained normally. But I digress. From what little I was able to play of TOR, I liked it, though it felt a little grindy even then.

The worst part is that TOR is actually fairly light on the micro transactions when you look at other major titles in the MMO market. Even WoW is increasingly headed in that direction.

I've beaten the game twice completely free to play.

They made it so that if you do all the quests and whatnot you'll be proper level to advance through the game normally. Though, I found myself spamming flashpoints for experience its a good way level up and learn to play your class (Unless you're DPS then you suck). The MMO feeling really hits you in the face when you find yourself traversing the painfully linear world second time around. At first its cool to see your favorite worlds come to life, but it quickly starts to suck when you realize the entire planet is a corridor.

I recommend pretty much all the imperial stories except for bounty hunter (nice ending terrible execution), the Jedi Knight story is the only Republic story worth playing through sadly.

As for lag, the only time where it has been a problem was Coruscant.

Isn't it good though that a game has little to no micro transactions?

This game bored me to tears. The only part that I really liked was Tython.

Yes, it is. The point I was making is that it's a bad thing that TOR is comparatively on the lighter side, because it's indicative of just how greedy the MMO genre has become.

Bac's just miffed he couldn't find the pause button when he needed to poop.

That's actually a thing that happened.

Sith inquisitor was a blast. Rise from "slave" to "master of the dark arts" was an awesome ride, especially if you decide to go against convention and pick lightside choices and troll the crap outta people.
