willing to talk about the character.

As for the proposed premise color me intrigued I do love multi-verse what if stories, the Shakespearean connection with the evil picard I picture Macbeth based on how you described the internal conflict, but I could be off.
Timeline we in the TMP era? because the borg wouldn't show up until TNG era so a little confused on the timelines there, as for picard not haveing the mental fortitude to overcome the borg do to his not having contact with Spock that isn't true Best of both worlds happens at the end of season 3, and the beginning of season 4. Picard meets spock in unification I, II in season 5 episode 07, 08 though it could be argued he didn't get the chance to meld with Sarek in season 3 episode 23 with the same name.

P.S. I'm a good spring board for anything cannon, that can find an alternative I practically know it religiously, and call out it wouldn't work as a what if story...... god I need to get a life >_>

I'd be interested in RPing if my character was involved in a limited capacity. I could take on a canon character.
This, except with an original character.

I wouldn't mind playing around in the new Abrams universe actually.

1. MacBeth is a good way to put it.

2. I wouldn't call it mental fortitude as such. I don't want to portray him as just straight-up a victim. I do think that it would be interesting to hinting that he resisted it and at times broke the Borg connection, implying narrative potential, etc, but I simply wanted to explore that possibility (Spock's departure from the Prime timeline) as having the kind of consequences that reverberate.

3. Very true on the strict timeline. It's worth noting that TNG episodes didn't necessarily air or were produced in strictly chronological order (Stardate aside) and that in any case, I do intend to fudge these dates, both metacritically and in-narrative both to facilitate the narrative and as an element of the narrative itself (we can no longer trust our exact sense of the chronological data because time has been ****ed up, yo.)

4. My own personal opinion is that the The Prime Timeline (and if/when we establish some permanent or temporary or exigent connection to it, whatever implications come with that) is in constant flux relative to this timeline. It's more useful to think of them not as lines, but as parallel rivers in which time isn't actually the water, but the individual water molecules and that it moves randomly and chaotically in comparison to the Dramatis Timeline (my preferred name for it.)

What imposes some order for this both OOCly and ICly is the concept of Q as a character which straddles these timelines and which can mitigate to an extent the randomness of what is occurring. What this means though, is that we do get a meta-narrative (as I suggested, we should set up arcs for this RP, and even make it into a series, if possible and if things go well), whilst not limiting ourselves on the basis of what one timeline is supposed to be doing versus the other.

Yeah, that sounds a little too complicated to me.

I'm gonna go ahead and bow out.

Whatever you feel comfortable with dude. Mind you, my post was only supposed to be a theoretical explanation of what I feel are the under-the-hood mechanics of how this timeline would work. It doesn't really affect you or us, as we'd only adopt the craziness to the degree what we felt that the complications inherent would drive a narrative: at some points greatly, at some points not so much. So we could have Vanilla Star Trek exploring a complicated moral question/mission (No Godly Evil!Picard, no serialized arcs, etc.) in one thread. And then the next could be very different.

I'd suggest reading my Batman RP or just PMing me if you have any questions, but that's generally my approach to RPing. Complexity exists but need not be embraced if it does not advance the RP.

But like I said. Whatever your comfort level is should decide what you end up doing.

All the best!

I'll be doing an android, so people know. Either a pseudo-Data, or an OC utilising the same technology.

Excellent.

A note for those who are uneasy about Star Trek lore, and whatnot.

1. We don't bite. No really.

2. The metanarrative and the circumstances therein ensure that characters can hail from different times and places, and therefore the original canon (whilst not meaningless) is not exigent for any newcomer.

So yeah. Judge it by how you think the premise is structured. If it sounds compelling to you, give it a try.

I actually do intend to bring in Khan at some point. PM me if you're legitimately interested, Matt.

Alright then. Some more info. This takes place about a year or so after the first Stark Trek reboot. The canon crew of the Enterprise will be available to be RPed, and as (ICly) the Federation is probably rearming, other crews therein are also available. If you want to be captain of a given vessel, then come up with a good rationale, etc.

Klingons, Romulans, etc. are available as well.

So let's get rolling on this. Who is definitively interested? What are your thoughts on what you want to do/be?
