You may have noticed a few things as of late happening. most recently the archiving of all " non sentient" prefixed species - both approved and those awaiting approval. The reasoning is pretty straight forward.
Non sentient species :
this tag largely served as little more than decoration for a planetary setting and or some story based pet in the background of their threads. the major problem this poses is that it created unneeded clutter and buried sentient- user created and intended to be used as player character species .
The core idea of the species section was to create a place to place species to be added to the available playing options not offered by the massive amount of established species on Wookiepedia , and add onto the sites lore which has had success with customized species to be used en-mass and never intended as a place as an idea dump or a zoological database - and the inclusion of non sentient species ( aka animals ) just created that very situation.
This is star wars. There are already hundreds of worlds and any amount of species you can imagine and pull out of your hat like " gammorian poison muck hopper" or " Bespin cloud frog" and so on as is already, its no different for ones made for custom worlds. Rules have always limited " animals and pets" as story only elements and not pvp tools and such that could tip balances making the need for a write up largely moot.
I apologize to those who have submitted some wonderful write ups in the past, and I encourage you to continue linking to them in the archive as needed for references be it thread or planetary write up etc, however going forward it just serves little to no point other than to create clutter .
Missing cats:
As you may have also noticed the Kushiari species has vanished. Some were worried that since they have vanished, any characters they made of said species would have to be archived: Fear not, nobody has to remove their pre established characters
I would like to remind people that submitting and having planets or worlds approved make them fair use items on SWRP and will not be removed or vanish during a timeline even if you do so consider this before you submit.
