Planet Elrood
Spaceport of Dinbar

Elrood is not considered a very important world in the galaxy by most. Of course if one asked the smuggling gang Triple Saints they would admit the place serves a good enough to do business. The thieves and their few droids were busy hard at work getting ready for the next shipment. It all seemed everything will be another routine night...

Suddenly, the front door was blasted opened. Charging from out of the gray smoke, four dozen figures clad in makeshift armor and wielding blasters. There were only a few saints at the entrance and were immediately cut down by the intruders’ firepower. Leading in front was a Duros male wearing a masked helmet. On the opposite the smugglers fell back and returned fire Taking cover behind a parked speeder, the Durosian spoke through the comms.

“Spread out in four teams and give them hell!” Hugo Ion then lifted himself, shooting a short burst before ducking back down. What a way to spend an evening, stealing from thieves. The thought actually caused him to chuckle for a brief moment before the reality of combat set back in. They needed components for a shield generator and these so called Triple Saints stood in the way for it.

There was no room for hesitation.

Ner’Giza shot Aurelian a toothy grin, her Vornatikus blaster rifle held in her hands waiting for the moment Commander Ion signaled to begin. She had her DH-7 and R5 pistols at her belt line with a couple of frag grenades on each hip just for balance. Clad in her usual armour she at least got to leave the longjohns on Hoth. Anyplace warm was a good day in her book. But today they were actually part of the strike team assembled by Hugo Ion himself. She could only think that their bar fighting skills had brought them distinction in the man’s eyes. Though truth be told she may not have fared as well at the cantina as her memory made out.

She wanted something inspiring to say to her brother but the best she could come up with was, ”Break a leg!”, as though they were about to take to the stage. Soon enough there was no time for frivolity and after the front door was blasted open, she poured through like the rest with her blaster blaring at anything that moved. The surprise caused the smugglers to fall back and Hugo issued his first directive of the mission. ”Star Seven taking the left flank”, she replied no longer as awkward with the military designation as before.

No sooner than the words were out of her mouth that she and a eleven of the rebels made their way to a row of metallic shipping crates to the left. As Ner’Giza darted and skid across the floor to get behind cover of the crate, she peered out at the Triple Saints making their defense behind a parked speeder. Her team continued keeping up enough blaster fire to keep the smugglers pinned down, at least making her direction a bad choice in escape routes. Other than the few guards that had been at the entrance, she and her team had not done more than to get into place and keep the smugglers in theirs. It was a good a start to a heist as any she could recall. ”Star Seven in place.”, she spoke into the comms before taking sights on the speedster looking for a target to conserve her rounds.

Clearly these smugglers had not taken their security measures very seriously. If Hugo was to guess he would imagine it’s because the Triple Saints had paid off the authorities in this community. Probably not even faced serious competition for sometime. Whatever the case may be, they’re suffering for it now. Hugo Ion jumped up from the speeder as he watched the defenders retreat further the building.

Joined by the second team called the Mynocks, the commander advanced with them into the center alongside team rancor. They rush past crates and parked loading vehicles. At a large overturned table with discarded sabacc cards on the floor, three desperate smugglers fired back at the incoming intruders.

Though the shots were scattered, the two teams took cover and spread as instructed as ordered earlier. Holding up behind a set of gray metal boxes he swiftly gestured team rancor to lay down suppressing fire.

A stream of repeatedly blaster bolts fell on the outlaws, killing one with a shot through the head and forcing her partners hide with the table. Signaling to the mynock squad to get ready to shoot Commander Ion pulled out a flashbang and tossed toward the holdouts. A bright flash ignited into the midst of the enemy pair. Crying out in pain and shock they exposed themselves were immediately cut down by the combined firepower of the two teams.

“Press forward!” Hugo ordered, getting out of his temporary shelter. Meanwhile, he received brief progress report from teams star and nova. Grinning the rebel leader was pleased to know the flanks were cover. We gotta keep up the pressure. The Durosian mentally noted while the rebels moved deeper in the heart of the facility.

Aurelian chuckled while flashing a smile at Ner’Giza, he was garbed in his usual armour while armed with the rifle he only bothered to bring with him on combat missions. At his thigh was a holstered heavy pistol while a lighter blaster was hanging from a holster at the left of his waist, for once he hadn’t bothered to bring his sword. After using Vu’thari’s lightsaber it felt like an infinitely inferior weapon and Aurelian had been bringing it with him less and less. He also had a few grenades on him, non-lethal adhesives and concussives.

The Padawan had never been to Elrood before, in fact he hadn’t even heard of it, which surprised the man. Although it wasn’t a major world the man prided himself on his well-travelled background and well-read nature. He’d tried to learn what he could in the short time between being assigned the mission and before the Alliance personnel had moved out. However there hadn’t been much to read. The only thing of note had been in the mission briefing which mentioned the Triple Saints smuggling gang.

The gang’s whose place they were currently assaulting.

Aurelian had only fired his gun a few times in the direction of the smugglers before their “security” (if you could even call it that) was falling back. The Force was alive with their terror at the sudden attack. The scholar couldn’t help but feel sorry for them.

“Star Six moving up.” he messaged to the rest of his squad over the Comm-link.

With his rifle slung over his shoulder Aurelian drew his two blasters, both set to stun of course, and began running forward with the other rebels. He slid to a stop as the air was raked with laser fire as a pair of the armoured thieves stepped out to fire at the invaders. Aurelian threw himself behind a metal crate which pinged as the laser bolts struck them. Popping out of cover he fired his two pistols, the blue circle ripped from his heavy pistol first and took a smuggler square in the chest knocking him out. The second blaster struck the other man in the stomach but his armour appeared to take some of the kick out of the lighter pistol’s attack and he stumbled back into a wall dazed but not dead.

“Nera one man down and another dazed, you might want to see to that.” he warned as he opened a direct comm-link with his friend. The warning came quick just in case the second guard got up and attacked his Twi’lek partner.

OOC: Sorry guys, I trying to get caught up from last week and must have missed this one!

Nera saw Commander Ion move forward with his team right down the center, and she signaled her crew to run toward the rows of warehoused goods left of the center down which Hugo had plunged. Moving in four man teams they entered the aisle between the industrial shelving in the hopes of keeping the Triple Saints from neither spreading out nor permitting reinforcements to come in from their flanks. With any luck they would have this place locked down tight within the first few moments.

She knew from experience the longer it took to subdue the opposing forces when pulling an invasion like this, the less likely you were to get away scott free. There were too many surprises the defenders could pull on their own turf and without any idea of what awaited them if the Triple Saints reached the fall back point they seemed to be rushing toward. She knew they had to try and stop them from reaching any possible bunker they could lock themselves down and pick off her compatriots in from relative safety.

Blaster fire filled the air but the conflict had all moved forward as the smuggler’s retreated. The chatter on the comm drew her focus to Aurel and she watched as he burst forward to take cover at a forward position. ”Star Seven advancing through left flank aisles”, she responded over the comm and then sped from behind the metal shipping crate toward the open rows before her. Again Aurel’s voice transmitted, this time a warning and she leveled her rifle in the dazed man’s direction. ”I see him.”

Taking a running aim, she leveled the Vorantikus at the man and fired a burst of three rounds at the man’s chest. The first two took him out but as the third round was released her foot came down on a discarded blaster causing her to skid across the duracrete floor a good five feet until slamming into the end of the shelving. Needless to say that round went wild. ”Sacred Bloomers!”, she swore while regaining her balance.

Waving her men on by, the three entered the aisle before her, the others already speeding down the other three rows to her left. Ner’Giza darted into the row bringing up the rear. Ahead of her the three man team took out a couple of smugglers trying to sneak off to the left at the end of the row before she joined them to secure the left flank from escape. All along the further aisles the other three groupings popped out at the end of their aisle calling an all clear down the line. She cued the comm to report in, ”Star seven, secured the left flank.”

Hugo leading in front was turning a corner when two blaster bolts shot past him, nearly missing his head. Swearing in Dursese the Commander pulled back to the side using a large crate for shelter. “Getting reckless are we Hugo?” He berateed himself with a hiss. Subsequently he hand-signal the rebels next to him toss a flashbang. A sullustan complied, drawing one and hurled it above them as smuggler shots continued to rang forth.

A burst of flash erupted behind them followed by new cries of blinding pain. Springing forth the Duros and his comrades came out, spotting three outlaws grasping their faces with obvious torment. Without hesitation team mynock opened up and cut the hostiles into pieces with Hugo striking down one of them with two bolts to the chest. Sparing no further glance in that direction the commander waved the team forward, heading toward a door to the next room.

She never knew if Hugo had gotten the all clear about the left flank or no for she saw him press forward along with team Mynock. The Premier squad in the Alliance with their commander. Later she would talk about the time she got all star struck in the heat of battle and blush for all she was worth for the man had definitely been too busy for comm chatter.

As she watched the formidable Duros charge his way through the smugglers, she gasped to see him dodge two blaster bolts flying right for his head! That was about all she saw because one of her flanking squad members thumped her on the back as he ran by telling her to snap out of it;

Running forward felt like she was headed for a cattle chute, but it couldn’t be helped as this was the only access to the next room. Then the flash bang went off that drove the Triple Saints out of concealment. It was a pretty crafty tactic for flushing snipers, she thought, and would have to add that to her own bag of tricks.

By the time her team made it to their position, Mynock Squad and Commander Ion had decimated the gang. Upon filtering into the next room, she and her team mates spread out in a rush through the expanse looking for any more combatants but thus far it seemed like that last flush that Ion and his men took out were it. That wasn’t likely to last for long for certain more people would be arriving. ”Stay sharp. There might be other means of security like motion sensors. Find those components as quickly as possible.”

Pointing out two men to guard their back, she set to searching through the rows of shelving in the warehouse room for thos shield parts. She didn’t like it at all, it was too quiet but so far everything was just as it seemed. Circling back around to the center of the room she went to some packing crates stacked up that appeared to be either ready for delivery or had just been received. It hadn’t taken her too many hits with the butt of her rifle against the lock to pop it open and inside were the components. She whistled shrilly, ”Jackpot. Everybody get these crates a moving.” No slacker when it came to work, she spied a hover cart and began pushing it over to be loaded. All the while her heart was beating like a drum screaming, hurry up, hurry up, hurry up!

Mynock squad linked up with Ner’s crew at the next room. Keeping the blaster raised Hugo scanned the machinery and metal containers in front of him. Smugglers weren’t known to be fanatics when it comes fighting but a cornered animal will lash out if seeing no alternatives. Especially stealing their stuff. The commander held his breath for a few moments, but nothing happened.

His squad spread out to protect the other rebels from new positions. Subsequently, Ner Giza whistled and alerted them all they found the components. Pleased, Commander Ion then ordered. ”Mynocks keep them covered.” Minutes tricked by with no sight of hostiles.

Finally, the rebels got all the parts loaded up on hover cart like Ner had done and moved. Hugo and the sentries surrounded their comrades in an escort formation back through the previous room. Again there was no opposition. Counting his blessings Hugo glanced from one side of the warehouse to another until they all finally exited out of the place. Awaiting them were a set of speeder trucks.

Under guard the rebels loaded the new cargo into the transports. When done they got onboard and sped off away from the warehouse district. Inside the leading truck, Hugo relaxed in passenger’s seat and messaged the whole strike force.

“Well done everyone. Once everything taken care of you’re all getting shore leave.” The Duros then smiled, hearing the cheering on the other end.

The trip back through the compound was probably more nerve wracking to her than had been the offensive push to reach their prize. The trick now would be to keep it and escape without losing any lives. Every noise caused her to start, for she could hear foot steps beating on metal scaffolding walkways far off in the distance. The sounds only seemed to get closer and closer and if she could have willed the hover carts to go any faster she would have.

Once they reached the transports she alternated between holding her blaster to the ready and keeping a sweeping gaze over the area and that of grabbing hold of the other end of crates to load up the cargo. It was fortunate that the Triple Saints hadn’t gotten wind of their planned heist or they would have had to face more men. She had only the element of surprise to thank for how far out the smugglers had been in the warehouse.

They took off none too quick, for even as they made their get away she could see several men come out of the warehouse. They fired off a couple shots but even they had to admit that their thieves had gotten away. Nera leaned back and sighed, rather stunned and blinking in amazement when she heard Hugo’s voice come over the comm link. Laughing she shook her head as the men began to cheer thinking she just might spend her leave in bed.
