Spam Posters

So on sites like these, I sometimes see people make an account that is clearly a spam bot, post a thread, and have it link to some dumb product, site, computer AIDS dispenser, or some combination of the three. Why does this happen and what do they think that will achieve?

There are also people like you, who spam threads about spammers to generate spam to spam a site.
