Spade's Bounty Hunter Gear​

Suprise is a bounty hunter's best friend. Spade, Baan Ordo's alias, put together this armor over the course of his career as a hunter. The biggest bounties call for captives to be brought in alive, and this armor gives Spade a hearty advantage.

INTENT​

The intent of this write-up is to provide a visual representation of Spade's armor.

LEGALITY​

This gear is legal. That said, wearing a full-face helmet in public spaces is frowned upon, and often illegal in many core worlds, especially in or near government facilities.

Type and Coverage​

Type: Light

Coverage:

• Head: A full-coverage Durasteel helmet with transparisteel visor.
• Torso: Light, tailored blast vest with molded composite duraplast plating.
• Back: Light, tailored blast vest with molded composite duraplast plating.

Functions​

Function 1: Personal Cloaking Device

• A gauntlet function only acceptable for light or medium armor, portable cloaking devices are extremely useful for sneaks and, quite frankly, cowards who want to avoid a fight. They provide relatively complete invisibility from the naked eye at a distance of more than 10 meters by warping the light around them but are quite useless under that range. However, one must move slowly, no faster than a walking speed, and cannot attack in any way, or the cloaking is ended, and it only lasts for about 30 seconds anyway. One's heat signature can still be detected easily. The device must be activated and deactivated by manually pushing a button located on the gauntlet, and takes 3 seconds to become fully operational, a time in which one is immobile and can be injured or killed quite easily.

Restrictions?: Only for light or medium armor. The cloaking device cannot successfully function with a full suit of heavy armor.

Function 2: Scout HUD

• Scout HUD - Contains a 4x magnifier and Compass.

Function 3: Bola Launcher

• The gauntlet bola Launcher is a useful addition to a bounty hunter's arsenal. Single-shot takes several seconds to reload and has a max range of 25 meters. A successful hit tangles a foe in a strong durasteel wire to slow down or even capture the target.

Function 4: Scatterweave

• An incredibly rare and expensive material. Scatterweave is a coating that reflects very little light, making it extremely useful for sneaking at night. It also "scatters" the wearer's heat signature, making it difficult for automated sensor systems or thermal visors to get a precise fix on the wearer's location without intense scans.

Function 5: Jetboots

• Miniaturized jetpack technology, jetboots (also called "rocket boots") are essentially boots to which small jetpack thrusters have been attached. The wearer must activate/deactivate the thrusters modes via wrist-mounted controls. Like an average jetpack, jetboots permit a maximum speed of 35kph and can maintain this speed for two minutes of continuous flight (flight mode). In combat (mode), they can be used in short bursts to propel the wearer up to seven (7) meters. Jet boots are much smaller, lighter, and less vulnerable to attack and damage than jetpacks, but are also very difficult to utilize effectively, and wearers can be easily thrown off course
