■ DESCRIPTION
The first incarnations of the K-16 blaster pistol came from galactic mercenary groups who would saw off the stock and muzzle of the blaster rifle the weapon descended from. Favored for it's versatility and surprising range, the blaster rifle could also overload and discharge it's entire heat reserve by holding down the trigger, firing a much more devastating payload of energy than it's individual semi-automatic function. Sacrificing ammunition capacity for mobility, Blastech capitalized on the distribution of their independently modified weapon by offering their own official model of K-16 blaster pistol, which rapidly gained traction among organized police forces and planetary militaries.

Traditional fire serves as a normal bolt from any blaster, while the charged shot is activated by holding down the trigger before releasing (5 second charge time) and is much harder to deflect with greater impact. Using this weapon's charged shot functionality uses the power pack's remaining heat reserve, and scales in power with the amount of ammunition consumed.
( Minimally practical unless carrying extra thermal power packs. )
■ INTENT
Besides offering a bit of diversity to the field of pistols, I was primarily invested in giving function to my favorite weapon from Battlefront without it just being a cosmetic choice. It's already in the canon, but I thought it should be run through tech for approval.
