The city of Keren in Naboo was at boiling point. Protests lined several high traffic areas of the city as gungans marched in the pursuit of equality and a demands to be treated the same as their surface dwelling counterparts. Despite forming the peace during the clone wars decades of complacency and relative peace meant the old rivalries and misgivings were beginning to reemerge. Keren being the epicenter thanks in part to a shocking story of a gungan being brutally assaulted by a squad of police officers. The local government's inadequate and slow response to the event along with the mayor's failure to condemn or offer a substantial opinion only helped cement the feelings that many had. With active protest and fears that it could devolve into a riot, a minister from the Royal house of Naboo volunteered to head from Theed to keren to rectify the situation. Today would be the day that they arrived to meet with members of the city government, as well as the leaders and organizers of the Gungan protests.
Everyone this morning seemed to be filled to the brim with tension. Except for one man skipping across the streets, earbuds blaring a symphony of amplified instruments. That was Jedi knight Felix Targrin. Felix had been sent to Naboo a few days earlier to Keren on behalf of the Jedi order. The knight being given the task to investigate and ascertain the situation on Keren, upon the arrival of the minister he would report his findings and try to aid the two parties in reaching an agreement. Felix however understood what the true end game was: Keep the peace. It was never said but it was always understood. That was the Jedi way, maintain the peace and allow change to prosper under it.
So the days he spent talking to locals both of the human and Gungan variety and even trying to track down and investigate various incidents. It was tiring and even worse excruciatingly boring at times but it unearthed a rather unnerving fact. It wasn't just Gungans being attacked by authorities or humans. There were also several accounts of humans being attacked and tracked down by Gungans. It was clear among the people he interviewed that there was a fear apparent inside them. It got ignored in the press and waves of protest which were naturally more focused on the Gungan side and perspective. It seemed like a organized group was using this as a means to finally retaliate. He even found a name for the group: The Black Tendril. Knowing how high profile this event was Felix was paranoid that something bad was going to happen. In fact his carefree demeanor was merely a way to hide the fact that deep down the knight was terrified.
It was his first major assignment in awhile, handling a rather delicate situation that could end in a mass riot, and there were likely forces at play that would see to it make that a reality. Add up all those factors and you had a recipe for stress. So Felix made his way to the landing pad 30 minutes before the minister was set to arrive. He was trying his hardest to concentrate and make sure everything was all tip top. Not one stone was unturned, every nook checked and cranny inspected. Nothing seemed amiss so far. A crowd was beginning to form including the welcoming committee ready to great and take the minister to the building that the meeting would take place. Felix was now open himself up to the force trying feel the emotions of the crowd only to no avail as the mixture of emotions made it hard to tell if anyone had any premeditated feelings. His could only dart and his heart could only race until finally the ship came into view and landed.
By the force please let there be nothing to kark this up.
