Hmm, under US law the girl does not have go get married (she is in no way bound to the monetary transaction for her *marriage*). Im guessing that payment would be for the fathers consent. Unless the girl us under the legal age of consent she can go and marry whomever she pleases. *again assuming that this is not some crazy brainwashed sect out in the middle of no where*

Actually the girls are under the Consensual marriage age. The parents have to ok the children getting married.

Not trying to justify it or what ever, but I remembered last night that two of my friends parents had arranged marriages. They are from India and over there its apparently unusual to not have arranged marriages, still weird to me but it did get me thinking.

I think this site is more of an introductory thing then anything else. You don't say, "sure, I'll buy this one" and she's yours, you propose to her online, and if she likes you, then sure.
What really pisses me off is the parents who force their daughters to marry, not giving them the option to say "no", and at such rediculously young ages! Someone married at freaking 14 - eww!:CCry2: These people give Christianity a bad name, they should be thrown in with the creepy mormon polygamists and the rapist, European catholic vicar, into outer space.
Something else that pisses me off is that they claim that the Bible condones something like this. Just because the Bible mentions it doesn't mean that the bible approves of it.:CStern: Stupid weirdos.
