The Republic may have a larger territory, but we do own the most important planets.

Though the Bendu only dwell on one planet, there are other important planets under their care and watchful eye that spread out for great distances.

This would be the perfect time for a rebel or a power mad figure in the sith to rebel against the current leader by naming that the sith are inactive as a reason and stuff.
