Its a really hard subject to grasp. To know that your NEVER going to see that person again is just surreal. Like...never. All the good times you had with them are just memories now, nothing else remains. Nothing at all.

Prison takes everything away from you. You are nothing. Your name means nothing. What you used to do makes little to no difference. Your features don't matter, your personality, nothing. You are just inmate # whatever.

Every day is a struggle. 4 walls, bars, people that want to kill you, some want to rape you, its just a horrible way to live out the rest of your days.

My friend is never going to see the outside of those walls. Thats really ****ed up. Really ****ed up. I don't know what to feel. There's just...confusion and emptiness. I'm shocked. Lots of emotions are going through me right now. Has anyone else had to go through a similar situation?

And you want to know the worst part about it?

He's only 28

You can still visit him, and if he behaves himself there's hope that he might get out on probation.

No chance he's getting out. He's a repeated felon.

I don't even know If i would visit him. Thats a horrible place to be, those visiting booths.

No offense, but I have to be frank.

If he's a repeated felon then maybe he deserves what he's gotten. But if you're not even going to visit him and he's a good friend of yours, then you're not a reliable friend. Even one visit would mean a lot to a guy in his position, and regular visits might be the difference between sanity and insanity for him.

If he's getting life in prison then unless by some twist of fate he's actually innocent, he deserves it. The fact that you say he's a repeat offender furthers this. It's not ****ed up. It's justice.

And no, I've never been in a similar situation because I don't associate myself with criminals.

He may be a repeated felon but that doesn't mean he's not a good person. I will write him in prison, but i mean lets be realistic, I can't visit him all the time. I don't have a car, and the prison is hours away. If I could, I would.

What did he do? If he's a repeat offender and he's getting life in prison then he's clearly not a very good person.

Sorry, but I know good persons.

And they don't get life sentences.

Awesome.

Now he won't be selling that dope to kids off the streets.

If the kids were smart they wouldn't mess with that shit anyway. Only stupid people use it.

And really, if they want it they can get it from anyone else. Thats the ****ed up thing about drugs. You can take out the dealer but its not going to matter.

Getting the dealers is the only thing we can do, and inaction is simply unacceptable.

Unless you want to nuke Colombia.

Oh, so it's the kids fault that he was selling cocaine to them? No. Stop selling cocaine and you won't go to jail. Simple as that. He's stupid too.

And really, if they want it they can get it from anyone else. Thats the ****ed up thing about drugs. You can take out the dealer but its not going to matter.

So you just stop going after them? No. That would be ****ed up.

Seriously dude, your friend ****ed up big time. He deserves to go to jail. Don't let the fact that you're friends with him cloud your better judgment.

Ah, so he wasn't a bad person, just an idiot?

Pretty much. Im not saying that what he did was not wrong, but that doesn't make him a bad person. Its stupid to do it and he knew the risks, but thats still a hefty sentence you know?

If that is all he did, and did not do something horrible we don't know of, then he does not deserve life in prison, just needs ALOT of help.

He's a repeat offender. If you keep doing something over and over again, eventually they have to stop giving you short sentences because you're clearly not learning your lesson.

Some people don't want help.
