While there are a lot of NPCs marked essential, the fact that Aela the Huntress is one of those is all kinds of awesome; immortal follower.

I flagged Lydia as essential. Being followed around by his housecarl just kinda fit my character better.

Plus I didn't want to be followed around by Ms. Batman.

If you don't like it, then sell it? Are you seriously complaining about Skyrim catering to different types of gameplay for different players?

The thieves guild is the best storyline in the game, the companions are boring as soon as you find out they're werewolves, the assassins guild had lame characters and the mages guild was too short.

The thieves guild had great characters, awesome set pieces, a betrayal at the heart of the story and great equipment to go along with it. It was better then the civil war quest line anyway.

No, I'm basically saying that if my Heavy Armor is 100 and wearing my very modified Dwarven armor gives me 992 armor raiting, then with my Light Armor at 20 something that the Nighting Gale armor won't be much use save for when I want to just look cool. I'm also against selling very cool/good unique stuff if it's one of a kind.

As for Quests, Companions seemed way too short. Oblivion's Fighters Guild was far more interesting.

Mage College was interesting I thought, and I liked the others there. But a tad short, but seemed longer then the Companions.

Dark Brotherhood... aside from my main character anihilating them from the face of SKyrim, I joined them with my Argonian and I so far like the characters there and the story seems predictable, but so far interesting.

Thieves so far I don't like because the first two quests you have to do(How far I got in their quest line) is basically being an asshole to people I am friends with, and I think there is going to be more. I know they don't have to like the new guy, but they don't have to be assholes about it. I wish for my main guy I could have just told Brynjolf that I was flat out not interested, but noooo... he has to say "Come back when you grow a spine or want to earn some coin" or something like that.

And the Civil War storyline barely had one. Go to this location, get orders, wipe out Imperials, repeat until the end.

Best quest line IMO is the Dragonborn quest(Main story). The Duke is so far my favorite Character. SOrry, I mean Arngeir.

You do realise you can get every single skill up to 100 and have 81 perks right? If anything this just means you can vary your gameplay on a whim by choosing whatever armour type you like by the end game, if you get bored of heavy armour. This is my point, complaining about variation in an RPG is pointless.

I agree.

Mage College was interesting I thought, and I liked the others there. But a tad short, but seemed longer then the Companions.

Again, the shortness I agree with as I said earlier.

Dark Brotherhood... aside from my main character anihilating them from the face of SKyrim, I joined them with my Argonian and I so far like the characters there and the story seems predictable, but so far interesting.

Babette and the Redguard where cool but you have very little reaction with them in the story until the end, Cicero was a love hate character.

The loot you get from the Dark Brotherhood was cool for a while, but after some time even Shadowmere becomes useless. It was just too ''RAWR WE'RE EVIL AND LIKE BLOOD AND SUCH'', plot points where also way too obvious compared to what they've managed in the past.

Thieves so far I don't like because the first two quests you have to do(How far I got in their quest line) is basically being an asshole to people I am friends with, and I think there is going to be more. Then you can't judge the Thieves Guild based on that because that makes up literally 20% of it's storyline, I don't even want to spoil it for you but it becomes ****ing epic, you can't judge it on the first while, I advise you to check out the rest.

And the Civil War storyline barely had one. Go to this location, get orders, wipe out Imperials, repeat until the end.

It sucked.

I am well aware, and like to play my characters in these to how they would be. A fighter/assassin/mage/thief/bard/etc is not something I have any intention on being.

It's hard when the beginning can't get my interest. Just like a movie or book, if the beginning can't interest me(First 25 minutes of a film for example) then it's gonna be hard to get me more interested.

What would be interesting is purging the Thieves Guild and giving Riften a better reputation with the corrupt and criminals gone.

So Volendrung is awesome, it's just ugly as **** IMO, it's too big and looks kinda ridiculous.

My guy now is my second character, rocking plate armor minus a helmet and an Epic Skyforge Steel Battleaxe, although I do prefer the warhammers, ignoring armor is ****ing awesome.

Favorite two-handed weapons?

You should still appreciate the fact it offers you the option to do in the first place.

It caters to a playstyle that's nothing like yours and for that reason you're missing out, but then again you probably think the companions is the best thing the game has to offer.

Perhaps people who prefer my playstyle just got lucky this time around.

Lydia is a bitch and won't take the better things I give her. Wish Bethesda would incorporate companions as a sort of party system where you can easily change their equipment no matter the rating. Or at least I have this issue with consoles.

I wouldn't mind being followed by Ms. Batman...hmmm my Nightingale armour + Cowl of Nocturnal (Gray Fox's cowl) = ? OMG Batman! I wish the cowl was in Skyrim. Man, my game is screwed, my char takes no damage and kills in 1 hit, but I can't sneak or pick locks. -_-

all I have to say is that sneaking + 2 hander is ****ing hysterical with the beheading perk. /sneaksneaksneaksneak draw battle axe cut off someones head sneak sneak sneak/ all the while the other guy in the dark room is just like "Huh...I thought I heard something...guess not."

You know you can decapitate someone with one-handed weapons too, right?

Beheading people was so morbid for me, it would be perfect if it had sex and blood, a fair share of more blood, luckily for me mods will come with that.

The first time I played it, I got Lydia, and I was Thane I felt i was in a mission of god or something (note that I'm atheist) it was awesome. But sadly after a while a courier came running to me, as it started to rain in Solitude by night, and gave me a letter. That Lydia had died and I had inherited 300 gold from her.

First gameplay, sad music, I thought I had messed up somewhere or that I was meant to happen. I had been searching for her for some time before the letter :CCry1 Such an irresponsible Thane! Later on I got another partner... And it died again, on the final part of the Gauldur amulet (That was incredibly overkill for my level, it was hard as **** and non-stop)

Then on my other playthroughs she started dying over the most pointless things, so I left her in Whiterun (for her own safety)

Has anyone yet reached Blackreach? I fell in love with that place... I was on a mission then I saw it and I was like "screw the mission!" and stayed like three hours taking my sweet time to explore the place. Beautiful. I was somewhat afraid that if I left i couldn't go back, or either had to do the entire ****ing oddyssey again.

The game "ends" too soon sadly. As for the main quest I was expecting for this to continue post Imperial/Stormcloack victory, ropleplaying the consequences, then Almeri Dominion/Empire and whatnot, I was kind of sad to find out that was it...

I'm actualy having a blast with my Argonian. Full Glass armor, dual glass swords and a glass bow. Sniping them with the bow and watching them scatter, then go back to business as someone sits down next to the body with the arrow sticking out of his chest. I love screwing with them. lol

I'm Level 28 with him and Level 51 with my Nord.

I'm doing my first runthrough as a lawful good Nord warrior/battlemage, planning on focusing mainly on the Companions, Winterhold, and the Main Quest. For my second run I want to be more sneaky/evil, and I can't decide between an Argonian and a Khajit. Any suggestions?

Argonian racial benefits > Khajit's.
