Ownership:
Owned by Sota Ja'rini Priest, Patented and sold to Bio-Tech Industries to be available to everyone

Intent:
I created this for mostly character driven reasons, it serves as a constant reminder of an important event in her life and it is deeply involved in the creation of her personal philosophy. In addition, it is also used as an indicator of how she sees people, whether they be friend, foe, asshole etc.

Model/Name:
SJP-01 Auditory Frequency Implant

Type:
Experimental Medical Ear Implant

Power Supply:
The implant is powered by an experimental gel that is directly fed into the implant via an injection port that juts just out of the skin next to the Ear lobe. Once injected, the gel uses the electical impulses of the auditory nerves as a catalyst, being broken down into energy that powers the implant for approximately 2 weeks before needing to be topped up. However, the gel itself can only be made in a chemical lab and can only be used whilst the implant still functions, therefore, if the implant were to be completely disabled, as opposed to being put on stand by, it would need to be surgically removed and restarted via conventional means before the gel can be introduced again.

Sensors:
It has one sensor at the very end, attached to the ear drum, which detects auditory stimuli and converts it into electrical impulses that travel along the auditory nerves, producing sound.

Size:
12cm

Composition:
Duraplast
Description:
Put simply, the AFI is designed for those whom suffer from deafness of any kind, be it genetic or inflicted. The implant is inserted alongside and fused to the Auditory Nerves and Ear Drum, with an auditory sensor at the Drum end. The sensor picks up sound, and converts it into electrical signals that the implant transmits directly into the auditory nerves, allowing them to reach the brain and allowing the user to hear once again. It also functions as a hearing aid, as the user can send a mental signal that puts the implant on standby, effectively making themselves deaf once more for however long they wish.
